  1. I messed up quoting you for the notification. People are using the phrase "start his clock" but Monty's clock is going to be started regardless of whether it's in September or December. If he's brought up in September, they'll just have to hold him back next year, starting him out in AAA just to make sure he doesn't burn a full year of control before 2026.
  2. 6 years of control is 6 full seasons. He has to be added to the 40-man this winter, anyway. If he's added in September and brought up to the parent club through the end of the season, he still has 6 full seasons of control, and 3 options. If Monty is put on the 40-man this winter, he still has 6 years of control and 3 options. The only difference is the number of days he's on the major league roster this season, they would have to hold him in AAA longer than that amount of time to maintain 6 full years of control after the 2025 season.
  3. I think he's going to wear lots of different uniforms before it's over.
  4. I thought imply was what the speaker does to suggest an unstated truth or logical consequence.
  5. I honestly thought Monty would have relegated him to the bench or off the roster by now. That's why they play the games.
  6. Colson Montgomery has to be added to the 40-man this winter. If he was added in late August and brought up for a September cup of coffee, he wouldn't burn an option, and the 30-40 days service time would not really dent his 6 years of control. If he made the parent club any time after May, 2025, they still have a full 6 years after that. Brooks Baldwin doesn't need to be added until the winter of 2025-26.
  7. My very uneducated guess was that he was injured in college, and never fully recovered until forced to with TJS.
  8. Yes. In the horrible first weeks of the year, the White Sox had played the Guardians surprisingly close. We won one, and lost another in a walk-off. Again, I'm not even sure if you watch the games.
  9. I called him a AAAA utility infielder. I'd love for him to battle Ramos/Gonzalez/Baldwin/Monty for a spot on the infield next year and going forward. He seems to be acclimating.
  10. Do you even watch this team?
  11. I was wondering why Schriffen didn't do a tortoise call, or an elephant call when Maldy ran the bases for his HR. That would have been cool.
  12. Well, he was a starting pitcher who struck out 6 per 9 IP. Not really sexy. Yes, they probably should have started converting him to the bullpen before his 5th season in the system. He's invested 11 years to make about 2 years of that low salary.
  13. Cristian Mena - 1st 4 batters, 4 runs. He had a clean 2nd, walked a couple in the third. Jake McCarthy nailed Freddie Freeman trying to tag on a lineout. 4 hits, 3 walks in 3 innings. Welcome to the show, kid.
  14. Maybe some team wants a FO dude who will barrel into the war room and order scouts to draft his favorite college DH at #3.
  15. That struck me upon reading it. No love lost, I guess. Getz probably was in Jerry's ear for a while.
  16. Or, keep him as a closer, let other teams think they can fix him, then trade him as a power arm. They've made about three runs at making him a starter. He's a head case.
  17. Where is this whole podcast? It cuts off after mentioning Baltimore's call about Crochet, said, "let's talk about Garret Crochet", then there's nothing else on Twitter talking about Garret Crochet.
  18. Maldonato starting today. I wonder if Korey Lee got hurt yesterday.
  19. Oh sure. Like jogging back to the wall putting up your glove arm, and doing a little hop on a home run 15 rows out.
