For the hell of it:
Seeing as this is a simple thought exercise I’m gonna go wild! In previous posts I rallied hard against a perpetual rebuild trades. Under this premise I’ll push an idea that I’m not sure even I believe in. I would take something like Wander Franco and Casey Mise. At that point I’d consider trading anyone without 5/6 years of control for other top 10 prospects and build a 2023 super team. Seeing as this isn’t real why not zig when others zag ?.

2019 Lineup vs. 2020 Lineup WAR
Quin, using numbers to assist his point is showing how we are becoming a good team. The either majority or vocal minority of the board thinks the re-build has failed, and use White Sox fandom as like sports related self harm ?. more data driven logic and less moaning would make this a nicer place to spend free time.

2019 Lineup vs. 2020 Lineup WAR
Finally something positive!!! If we can get league average pitching instead of Santana, Covey, bullpen days etc that would be a few more wins. You can see how this team could make 85 wins plus!

Time to rebuild the rebuild?
You are essentially looking to have a whole team of players wIth 6 years of control. The problem then is they all hit free agency at once and you are left with nothing. A good rebuild comes in waves of talent and you re-sign the first guys to his free agency if the team is worth investing in to extend the window.. again this still may happen. You are not massively wrong with the idea, you are just AT LEAST 12 Months to early, id say much longer. I don’t want a perpetual rebuild.

Time to rebuild the rebuild?
I get the sentiment here. Essentially after this season Yoan and Gio have the same control as Eaton, Quin and Sale. The team was mediocre so we rebuilt. Surely if this team is also mediocre we could consider doing the same. EXCEPT!!!!! the off season isn’t over yet, we might still get some pieces and we can contend. Further more the value of these players are NOT AT their peak value as they have only done it for one season. We would likely get more if we traded next season after they repeat the magic. So given your premise, there is no reason to do this, especially not now.

The cost of starting pitching
This would be my plan too.

Sox acquire Nomar Mazara for Steele Walker
I get the concerns with this trade, however I like it. Mazara was a 5 million dollar international signing, he struggled with contact as a minor and always seemed like he was rushed to the Majors given his approach. He DEFINATELY has the potential to become a better hitter, given his age and potential. I think its likely the other trade options were asking for too much in return, quoting Hahns own Eaton deal as part of the reason. I’d have even been happy with Walker for Polanco as he also has performed poorly but had good prospect pedigree. WORST case is he outperforms what we had in that position last year.

Successful Plan B; What’s Next?
Don’t agree with this take. Cole’s futuresox content is great.

Dallas Keuchel (discussion)...come on down!
I like the idea of signing Keuchel. In a world of homers the ground ball is king. Further more as a finesse/control pitcher he should age better. Lastly the beard !

A Realistic Offseason

Mous to the Reds, 4yr Deal
Love the Grandal deal even more after this one.

Sox in on Marcell Ozuna? I mean, maybe. Or not.
I posted this in the Rendon thread when another in my view silly Billy Hamilton convo started, however it suits this convo better. Keeping in with this conversation but suggesting a more sensible player. My plan C is Jackie Bradley Jr. But importantly in a platoon WITH Engel. Engel over 88 at bats against lefties (I know SSS) hit over .350obp. JBJ hit .320obp with pop from the other side of the platoon in a down year. Together they would form a .335ish obs base with 20 plus home runs. i know the above isn’t electric but it would be above league average hitting at a small cost. Furthermore, say we are 2 runs up in the 7th all three head into the outfield once Eloy has only one at bat left. With that outfield very little drops. This has value on both sides of the ball and is a cheaper option that trades or my plan A, Big D**k Nick.

Abreu Signs 3/$50M Extension
https://fromthe108.com/2019/11/25/jose-abreus-contract-a-deep-look/ whats the view on Beefloafs take. 1) I love the loaf, if he believes this I’m sold! 2) two my view already wasn’t that this was a massive overpay as I believe intangibles have value that could one day be measurable. When that happens this deal will look better. 3) what if this gets a Yoyo exstension done. For those reading this pay particular attention to what the Loaf thInks of the accounting.

Sox in on Marcell Ozuna? I mean, maybe. Or not.
Gregory Polanco as a buy low candidate for RF and spend the rest on pitching is my plan B.

Rick Hahn's Resume as GM
▪ Player Dev Rank: 30th / -$350M in value generated (per Driveline) Can someone explain this player development rank more fully please ? not finding a diamond in the rough is my concern, everything else that’s gone wrong I see as hindsight somewhat.

2nd Generation Rebuild
If this was a computer game and not real life I’d love this idea. Essentially Tampa Bay do this as given there budget it’s the only option really and then strike when a core arrives together. this isn’t a computer game however, we fans and sponsors to appease. Ideally we need to grow these two areas and an even longer rebuild would deminish this. further more waiting for this core to arrive may not happen if players flame out. We have a core growing now, let’s use it, let’s spend! If it means we need to rebuild or re-tool again in 2023 or what we so be it.

Which players are you paying extra attention to next year?
Until he’s gone Hansen! I can’t see it happening but if he gets it together he becomes our best pitching prospect over night.

2020 White Sox Team Builder
This is my plan A from earlier in this thread. I will probably do one for my plan B too. Comes to 147 mil but I think in the real world it would come to less as I doubt Calhoun or Harris would cost that much (if they did I wouldn’t want them) mostly thanks for making this dude, this was fun to do.

Projected white sox arbitration salaries 2020
Marshall gave us millions in surplus value last year. Even if he regressed to a 4era pitcher he’s still worth 1.3 mil. Hell hes worth that sitting in the minors as insurance for injuries.
