  1. The utility role is not good for young prospects because we would want them getting as much playing time as possible. I have no problem paying Whit to be that guy, even if it’s a slight overpay. Veteran guy, leadership, good clubhouse presence, and can play multiple positions.
  2. Is it possible we get an actual outfielder to play RF (sign or Cease trade) and then sign Whit for the “Leury” role?
  3. I expected to open this thread and see a single sentence saying, “It still sucks.”
  4. I agree, but is this Cease related? Or just more of a general thought in the most active thread right now?
  5. This whole argument reminds me of Matthew Berry’s fantasy football draft manifesto every year where he talks about how you can take stats and make any single player look good or bad. In the end, all that matters is what your gut is telling you about how the player will do this upcoming season. Or in this case, how do other GMs think Cease will perform over the next couple of years? Balta, out of curiosity, how do you think Cease will do over the course of the next two seasons?
  6. Definitely. We should try that.
  7. If we had to play a game tomorrow, what would our lineup look like?
  8. I’ll go out on a limb and say this lane does better than the shít we witnessed last year. I’ll go with 64-98.
  9. If we're going to get somebody to come back to play RF, might as well snag Dye. Actually, we should just see if Dye, Iguchi, and AJ want to come out of retirement. Three positions of need, and even at an old age, they would still probably outperform what we've been getting at those positions lately.
  10. Yeah, we our going to be bad.
  11. I didn’t really follow the prospects we got in the trades last year. How did Quero look?
  12. I think the trade is made at the winter meetings.
  13. Why would we have been down 2-0 without the AJ play? Couldn’t we have still won the game in extra innings? It’s not like we were losing when that play occurred.
  14. Trade or signing?
  15. Haha, I’ve already accepted the fact that we will be seeing a lot of garbage at-bats and pitching this year. I just want to see guys that care. Even typing that out was depressing.
  16. This is all accurate, and I don't really disagree with any of it, but does it really matter how good he is? I know that sounds ridiculous, but whether he's a 0 WAR player or a 3 WAR player really won't change outlook of the club. The Sox will not be good this year, so we might as well grab some players that play hard and play the game the right way so that any youngsters we bring up can learn and grow in a better environment. In other words, I'd rather sign a 0 WAR 2B that plays the game like Merrifield than a 3 WAR 2B that plays the game like Moncada. If we were trying to compete this year, then that's a different story.
  17. Completely agree. Nobody knows for sure. I was just looking for a prediction.
  18. James, any prediction on when Cease gets dealt?

Remember how good he looked on opening day against Houston? I think that was the one time I enjoyed watching a Sox game this year.
  20. I would hope the same can be said for anybody we interview. I would also hope we go outside the organization.
  21. Anyone else start to get a little excited while reading these lists, only to realize you were much more excited about much better prospects during the start of the rebuild and that amounted to nothing? Then you get really depressed and start looking forward to the Bears season? Asking for a friend.
  22. Are you trying to claim Lopez is worth the same as Anderson/Kelly?
  23. We’re only 3 games back in the win column! (When nobody is over .500 in the division, the win column becomes more important than the loss column, right?)
  24. Split the first two, then win on Sunday. Keep winning series.
  25. Thank goodness. I’ll be able to sleep well tonight now. Nothing like being a few percentage points ahead in a battle for 3rd/4th place on June 8.
