  1. Yikes. Source: WrestlingObserver.com Dave Meltzer is reporting that a plane carrying the Smackdown and ECW crew had a "gigantic scare" several hours ago when their plane almost collided with another plane in Europe. After last night's show in Frankfurt, Germany, the SmackDown and ECW crew were on a Lufthansa flight headed to tonight's show in Zurich, Switzerland. As the plane was approaching the runway to land, another plane appeared out of nowhere right in their landing path. The pilot acted quickly and managed to get the flight back in the air at the very last moment. The plane circled and landed safely, but everybody was shaken up from the incident. Several hours later, the crew was described as being "white as ghosts". Had the planes collided, Nancy Grace would have blamed Vince. (green?)
  2. QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 11:28 AM) Did you pay for that info? I win! Let's put it this way: If Soxtalk started charging people to post, you'd never see me again.
  3. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) If the Sox did sign him...I don't think the Sox would get out of the first week of Spring Training without a Bonds-AJ fight. And I'm not talking a Bonds-Kent pushing match...I'm talking about broken furniture, etc. I don't know about that. Didn't they play together for a season with no fights? Maybe it would be different because this wouldn't be Bonds' "house", but I don't really think they'd come to blows.
  4. Once again, team player Tripsy pops off - he just can't stand anyone else getting attention, even for a moment: partial source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter -- At the 11/19 Raw show -- the night in which Chris Jericho returned -- Triple H was joking with a number of the younger wrestlers about how they should be really excited for the next round of house shows. When asked why, he said that there would be nothing but sellouts now that "the savior" has arrived. He also said something similar to Shawn Michaels, telling him that he should work house shows again because Chris Jericho "was back to save wrestling." Michaels didn't really respond to Triple H's comment as he didn't laugh about it nor respond to it negatively. Of course, Triple H was being sarcastic with his comments. He was telling people that Ric Flair's return will mean more money than Jericho's return. Internally, some people believe Triple H's comparison was counterproductive. It was also noted that he never does this sort of stuff at the arena to co-workers, but Jericho of all people got him to do it. If he does, it's only with the inner circle of WWE. On the other hand, Stephanie McMahon was giving the impression at television that she is very supportive of Chris Jericho.
  5. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 10:13 AM) They are having trouble doing that with all the injuries. If they think he is a forward, that's fine, try to keep him up there. Personally, I don't really like him on defense for his lack of skating ability and coverage errors, I don't project him to be a decent defensively. Anyways, if you are going to put him up at forward don't put him on the 1st freakin line, as I said after Wed's game. Being big and physical and having a nice slap shot doesn't suit you to play on a team's first line. He can't keep up with Lang and Havlat and doesn't have a good idea of how to play forward. I can see his skating and passing ability hampering any sort of rushes through the neutral zone, as well as his ability to cycle down low and make passes and good decisions. He's better suited on a line that almost always has to dump and chase and forecheck really hard, as well as check the other team's big guns (because one thing Buff will do is finish his checks). It's ridiculously obvious, but put Ruutu (or a less talented Burish) on that line if you really want a physical guy up there. Buff should not be in the top 2 lines. I'll be shocked if Buff has a good game tonight. To me, this isn't putting your players (or team) in the best position to succeed. That IS great analysis (I expect nothing less from The Krush), and I agree with all points. It just seems like they want him to be a D-man, so if that's where they project him, I want them to give him the best chance to succeed back there. I do think, as you do, that he'd be a decent low-line forward, a bang-and-crash kind of guy. Ruutu would give them a physical presence on the top line, and he can put it in the back of the net as well. I want them to leave Sharp, Kane and Toews alone no matter what. I think that line can do some great things if they're not tinkered with.
  6. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 02:13 AM) http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=91020&src=149 Buff will play on the first line tonight. I don't like it. Neither do I. Assign the guy a set role to play on this team and keep him there. Bouncing from D to F and back again will only hamper his growth as a defenseman. Bring up a forward from Rockford and play him. Keep Buff on the backline. ....just in case, I still want him on D even if he scores 4 goals tonight....
  7. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 12:53 PM) honestly, I share a distaste for Bonds but it's tempered and nuance -- that said... would you feel that same way about Joe DiMaggio, who was greedy, a jerk, a wife-beater, an asshole to fans...he was Barry Bonds without "cheating" or a hostile media. Can't say for sure - DiMaggio is one of the very few players in baseball history who played before "my time". If he rubbed me the wrong way, then yeah, I would. I knew I never wanted Mark Grace, Curt Schilling, Roger Clemens or Derek Jeter anywhere near my favorite team, baseball abilities notwithstanding. They all rub me the wrong way, much like Bonds does. I don't dislike all "jerks" or even all "cheaters" (examples off the top of the head, I liked Rickey Henderson and Jose Canseco), but when I've had enough of someone I don't want them near my team. My distaste for Bonds has very little to do with his alleged cheating - it has everything to do with looking at him and listening to him speak. Just from comments he has made in public, I don't like him. I actively don't like him, enough so that I would without hesitation "disown" the White Sox from the moment he was introduced as a Sox player until the moment he was traded, released, retired or left via free agency. I just want to watch the White Sox without vomiting - is that too much to ask??? (....might not be possible to watch them without vomiting in 2008....)
  8. QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 03:54 PM) It's so sad how far TNA has dropped off. A few years ago I was getting into it, it had good angles and even better matches and than it hit a wall and went over a cliff. I still think it has EVERYTHING to do with Russo turning things into crap. Guys like Styles and Daniels were becoming stars and now everything is a gimmick and a clusterf*ck. I don't even really think Joe is anything special anymore. FIXED! Actually, I don't think it's 100% Russo's fault, but he's got his hands so deep in the crap that his elbows are brown. The fact that they hire any and every WWE reject doesn't help. They end up looking like they're picking trash in Stamford. Matt Morgan? Really? You need Matt Morgan??? Even with 2 hours they continue to waste FAR too much time with go-nowhere angles (beer drinking contests, anyone?), kill the only thing that sets them apart from The E (Dudleyz trashing the X Division), and they've done something I'd have never believed possible - they've made Kurt Angle BORING. I still watch because I'm a stupid overgrown adolescent, but I don't care AT ALL if I happen to miss a segment, or even an episode. ...and I never thought Joe was special, so welcome to my way of thinking!
  9. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: if the Sox sign Bonds, I stop following the Sox until the second he's gone. I think he's vile, and I won't support any team he's on.
  10. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071205/ap_on_...wake_in_surgery Her next lawsuit? The producers of the movie "Awake".
  11. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 06:31 AM) By the way...you have one weird friend. Admitting your weirdness is half the battle. I'm proud of you, my friend.
  12. Big old stinky fish wrapped in a 2001 Diamondbacks commemorative World Series newspaper.
  13. You don't live longer without sex, it just SEEMS longer. .....or so I've heard.....
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 05:11 PM) I dunno. You old farts probably miss this stuff. Not this old fart. I've already told my wife (and anyone else who'll listen) that if anything ever happened to my marriage I'll never date again. I do NOT need that s*** ever again.
  15. QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 10:07 PM) Flair will just not wrestle so he doesn't have to retire? I read that Vince was unimpressed with the ratings for the first installment of the Flair "Win Or Retire" angle and they're most likely moving it to SmackDown. They advertised him on the last Raw, then held him off with no explanation.
  16. Saw on Lords of Pain that Dwayne Johnson refused Vince's invitation to appear on the Raw anniversary show. Must be too busy filming another tremendous movie to appear in a cameo on the show that's the reason anyone even knows his name. So very, very busy.
  17. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:10 PM) Props to the Tigers. They see this is their window with Maggs-Sheff-Pudge all getting older. They are going for it all for next few years. That farm system is completely ripped apart now. Yeah, they had a taste of coming close and they're going for the whole thing now. Can't blame 'em.
  18. Paul McCartney's grandfather (Gammons) is reporting that Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis are, in fact, going to Detroit for a slew of minor-leaguers. And that it will get done tonight.
  19. QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 10:07 PM) Flair will just not wrestle so he doesn't have to retire? I can't wait to see all the QUALITY ways they keep Flair's career alive.
  20. My only real wants are an iHome clock radio/charger for the iPod and a Wolves jersey. Anything else is a plus.
  21. Kind of nice to see the APA, although they look a little old and soft.

  23. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 03:07 AM) Random thought. It would be pretty cool to own one home in each of the 50 states. Nothing luxurious, just simple, modest homes where you could stop off and lay your head. I've decided to own one home on each of the seven continents. It's more affordable (7 being approximately 43 less than 50), although airfare will eat up some of the savings. So far, I've got one continent covered, so only six more to go!
  24. Scott Hall no-showed last night's TNA pay-per-view. He claimed to have food poisoning. I'm betting on alcohol poisoning. What a complete joke his career has become.
  25. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 04:54 PM) Still wrong, Dahl is on 104.3 whoops. 104.3 is correct. Jack, Kiss, Drive, Mix, Loop, Lite, what's the freakin' difference?
