QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) What's up people... you guys don't vacation..??? I'm not a fan of traveling. Been to Minnesota, St. Louis, Florida twice and Phoenix. That's all.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 08:55 AM) I would sit down Jermaine Dye from what I have seen of him so far, I would rather have Carl in the field because of his bat. But it wouldnt be too far off to have a rotation going in the OF, with each guy taking the 4th day off. That's what I'd do as well, taking the DH into account as YASNY stated. Keeps everyone fresh yet ready and getting regular ABs. Nice problem to have....GET BACK HERE ALREADY, FRANK!!!!

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) Heck I wouldn't even pay for The Critic! I don't blame you! You'd be better off clothing me than feeding me - it's cheaper!!!!

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) Yeah Everettt picking up the tab is like us picking up the tab at McDs Even so, I doubt many of us would pick up the McD tab for 30 people. Very cool gesture by Jurassic, who's quickly climbing my list of favorite Sox players.

Maury, I'll let you know tonight if I can be there. Always have to check if my presence is requested elsewhere, y'know....real life and all that....

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 03:19 AM) As a kid, playing pickup hockey, I was a pretty damn decent goalie. One of the older guys I had played against went on to coach in a street hockey league. He remembered me being pretty good, asked if I wanted to play for his team. Well, it had been a few months as these games where being played in late fall. He put me between the pipes, against the best team in the league ... without one minute of practice .... they put a 10 spot on me. :headshake OUCH. I played goal in floor hockey ( not well, as you're about to hear ). They played me against this team that had a former minor-league pro and an alternate for the Olympics. Not a good idea. They put NINETEEN past me, and I had to make a glove save with 5 seconds left to avoid the dreaded 20.... They couldn't yank me, either, since I was only playing because our REAL goalie was injured. My play that day = :puke Their team that day = MY team that day = :headshake :rolly -

QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 08:14 PM) I'm probably a minority here because I know this is a SOX board, but there is NOTHING, better than playoff hockey. The MLB playoffs doesn't compare for me and the Super Bowl is too commercial. The Stanley Cup Finals is what it's all about, the players playing with broken bones and sewn up gashes, for the chance to skate around infront of 20000 people with a silver cup... I miss NHL hockey I agree, but don't forget the "playoff beards". Guys all look like Grizzly Adams by the time the Finals roll around. The Hawks' Cup run in 92 was so much fun, until they gacked that lead in Game 1 of the Finals and you just knew it was over. Watching them get to the Finals was terrific, though - I shared season tickets that year, and when I didn't go to the Stadium, I went to this cool little sports bar on Irving Park Road ( that hasn't existed for a LONG time now ) that was packed to the gills with other hockey fans ( and a fair amount of bandwagon jumpers ). There is seriously NO better time for me, sports-wise, than the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The game is played better, officiated better, and is much more intense than the regular season. NOTHING better in my opinion. -
Maybe I'm just easy to please, but I always use my beer mug from my buddy's wedding. It holds a bottle of Hacker-Pschorr QUITE nicely, and it's certainly nice to see my name before every drink. I'm not into golf at all, so I'd probably re-gift the certificate....

I remember an old Dennis Miller joke that went something like: "It's ironic that most of the "right-to-lifers" are also pro-death penalty......guess it's all in the timing, huh?"

This sucks. My favorite time of the sports year, ruined by stupid, clueless, greedy f***tards. Bettman, Goodenow.....f*** off. -
Dusty the Pitcher Killer leaves him in to throw 113 pitches in a blowout. I guess he's anticipating needing the bullpen in Game Two, when The Glass Messiah makes his grand return.

Even a crusty old bastard like me can appreciate this kind of thread. That's nice. Here's something my daughter said to my wife that made me feel really good, yet sad for her friend at the same time. My daughter was telling my wife that her friend told her that "her mommy and daddy fight all the time and her daddy slammed a door on her mommy's arm. I told her my mommy and daddy never fight, cuz they love each other". ( Not true that we NEVER argue, but we try very hard to wait until she's asleep to have our "discussions". Kids have to see too much bad stuff as it is, home should be as safe from that as possible )

that picture is HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE!!!! your kid is very cute! Glad the weather ( and the game ) turned out so well for you!

QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 12:33 AM) Since Carlos Lee was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers I have seen myriad opinions. Some praising some damning. After watching Carlos against the Cubs it made me realize he was a true White Sox. A player the city and more so Sox fans, should cherish the memory of. Yes , I know I ended the sentence in a preposition. My apologies to all those nuns and priests who tried to teach me better. His rise from "oh Lord they hit it Lee" to "damn , Carlos threw another guy out" is truly a Carl Sandburg, City of the Big Shoulders, blue collar , My Kind of Town inspirational story we can all appreciate and admire. Now if i was a sportwriter I could tell many tales of his diamond exploits against our hated crosstown rivals, whose name never crosses my lips nor my fingertips for that matter. It is for that reason alone that we , Sox fans , as a whole, should raise a glass in salute to our dearly departed "El Caballo." I respectually ask that if you have anything negative to say about C. Lee please refrain. This thread is a celebration of his time with us and a sincere wish for continued sucess with his new team. One thing I rarely saw when discussing the trade was that Sox management traded him to a team in a division so he could continue to :fthecubs . Here's to you Carlos , Chicago style See bold type above......"never crosses my fingertips" indeed........ and I agree...... to you, C Lee! Best of luck in Brewtown!!!!

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 01:03 PM) This pregame guy on AM1000 is kind of lame. I miss Wills.....White Sox baseball....NEXXXXXTTTT! I don't miss Wills, but this new guy is weak. Maybe the Sox don't want anyone to get too attached to this guy in case they move to the Snore?

I don't know, but I'd be surprised if the went back-to-back with the Sox.

QUOTE(heavyduty @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) Hey, I've only posted here a couple times, but since I go to BSU, figured I would comment. A buddy of mine is a T-Com major, he told me that this was the guy's first on air segment and also me that he had to change his major because of the amount of s*** he's gotten since the video was put on the internet. I guess the guy who sent it in is a huge asshole that nobody in the department likes and he got demoted from his position as a director from the show because he put the video on the internet. The guy might be an asshole, but I gotta say that I like him for putting this on the Internet.... Too bad the kid got heckled into a new major, though - that sucks for him.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 07:36 AM) I don't know, Jerry was a pretty funny dude.... there was that one time he said, umm, uhh... you know what I am talking about, right? Well he said something. And it was Really FUNNY. The funniest thing about Manuel was when he wake up in the dugout and pretend to be angry about something, but he didn't really know how to argue with the umps, so he'd stand there and wobble his head from side to side and then suddenly stop the head-wobble and walk meekly back to the dugout and resume dozing. .....that was funny..... -
Is it on Comedy Central at 2pm on a rainy Saturday afternoon with nothing else on but informercials and college sports? Cuz that's when I think I'll end up seeing this movie, and not before then.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 06:45 AM) Yeah, it's funny how liking a few Prog bands has always gotten me the label of a Prog fan. You're not the only one to call me "Mr. Prog Rock". It's funny, I guess that says alot about that style of music. If you like one band, such as Rush, it can be accepted, but if you like more than one, you instantly become a "Prog Fan". Yeah, so I was listening to Lamb Lies Down On Broadway this morning and wondering how anybody could dislike it, so what! But I was thinking about your comments and the thought that any idea can be achieved in under 3 minutes. Ya know, I am not so sure that Gabriel's lyrics would sound right with a Backyard Babies style backing! LOL!!! I take it you have no time at all for Classical? Jello is a bit hit or miss, isn't he? Especially after DK. If it looks like a Prog fan, swims like a Prog fan, and quacks like a Prog fan..... I have total respect for classical music, but I just don't have the ear for it. The wife enjoys Mozart quite a bit, so I hear that every now and again, but I am a neanderthal and I know it! .....and I always asked myself how anyone COULD like Lamb Lies Down.... My brother played the hell out of that album when we were teenagers cuz he knew it bugged me, and I played White Man In Hammersmith Palais by the Clash cuz I knew he hated that song......ahhhhh, youthful immaturity...... post-DKs, Jello was and is EXTREMELY hit-and-miss, more miss than hit. I like Lard, as I said, and I like to hear a spoken word track once in a while, but certainly not enough to buy a spoken word disc.

Ozzie is a quote machine!!!! Easily the funniest Sox manager I can recall. There's no one else in the race! -
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) You know I disagree with that one. I think it all depends on the piece of music, and I really don't think some ideas can be conveyed in under 3 minutes. But hey, you like Metallica, and even on the "masterpiece" called Master Of Puppets they went on with long songs. Have you ever heard the Jello Biafra w DOA album Last Scream of the Missing Neighbors with the song "Full Metal Jackoff"? Not sure of the exact length, but it is about 10 minutes, maybe even 15. It is basically 2 riffs, mid tempo, but with so many lyrics from Jello that it HAD to be that long. Yes, two riffs, and the song never gets boring. Yes, I knew you would disagree, Mr Prog Rock.... Of course there are exceptions that prove the rule, example being Metallica. Even in the case of Metallica, I generally like the shorter songs, such as covers like Blitzkreig and relatively shorter songs like For Whom The Bell Tolls. I can handle longer songs once in a while, if they don't meander in the middle like almost every long Iron Maiden song would. A one-song disc, though? Absolutely not. I did hear that DOA/Jello disc, and was surprisingly underwhelmed. I never even bought it, and I was SUCH a Dead Kennedys mark. Full Metal Jackoff did lose me mid-song, as I recall..... go figure. I just really don't like long songs as a rule. I liked Lard much better, but hated HATED Jello's work with the supremely bothersome Mojo Nixon. Thank the heavens that guy seems to have faded away.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) I settled in to watch some vintage Rage Against the Machine and 10 minutes in, there's a Cubs jersey on the base player. I had to turn away, it was terrible. So I added Rage to my boycott their Cub lovin' ass list. I am also considering adding Sound Garden as well. Who else do we need to add? I've been boycotting Rage Against The Machine since I first heard them because their music gives me a headache.
