  1. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) I had this in another thread already, but oh well. Anyway, Brantley made it seem as if all of our success is just pure luck. I don't mind if a guy doesn't pick us, but to think that all of our wins have been lucky is just stupid. well, this just proves that old saying: "I'd rather be lucky than be Jeff Brantley"
  2. There's got to be a doctor in Vienna who has a creative new treatment for hamstring strains....
  3. I'm not a doctor or trainer, and I'm not at the game, but I'm going to speculate anyway with nothing to base it on....heh.... I'm thinking it's nothing major, since Jose could keep going. He hopped a bit after those two pitches he threw to Stairs, but he didn't seem to be in any huge pain. Dr. Critic signing off...
  4. They may as well trade that Dubois kid for a closer, cuz Dumbass Dusty won't use him anyway. He's not a 10-year veteran, so The Pitcher Killer has no use for him. Flash, I think Jon Leicester was the other lily-livered reliever you were thinking of. Nice to see that the Sox have four closers and the Cubs have none. Borowski has the mental part, but came down with a glass arm like so many other Cub pitchers.
  5. There are a lot of adjectives I'd use to describe that thing, but "cute" AIN'T one of 'em....HA!

    Damn damn damn

This happens a lot in life. I know there are a few people I've lost touch with under strained circumstances, and I know I'd regret it if they weren't around anymore. But yet I don't reach out to mend the relationship either, so there you are.
  7. So I went to check Anthrax.com and I got a message that says, "This site is temporarily unavailable. Please check back later." Anything more to this? Or is the site simply down? I had heard some rumors that the reunion might not be going too smoothly, but that was a while ago so I thought that had all been ironed out. Any info? Also, are you going to the House Of Bad Sight Lines to see 'Thrax? I'm not, as I hate the House Of Blows more than I like Anthrax.
  8. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 06:57 AM) If it wasn't for Shingo's blown save against Cleveland we'd be 14-3, now! DAMN THAT SHINGO!!!! Thankfully, we can laugh about that blown save right now. No one was laughing when "The Count Of 3 And 2" ( aka Billy Koch, Botch, Krotch, etc. ) was blowing saves last year.
  9. In the absence of Chuck Tanner ( managed my favorite Sox team ever, the 1972 squad ), I voted for Al Lopez.
  10. Magglio = jilted former girlfriend talking s*** about her ex. Ozzie = responding childishly to get under her skin. Me = enjoying the ensuing hilarity.
  11. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) If he was on Scrubs all would love him Is that show still on the air?? Buerhle = Quality. Eastern States Propaganda Network = slow to notice. White Sox fans = lucky to have him.
  12. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) I'm an ex-smoker. My buddy and I were pretty pathetic. We used to cut straws to little stubs, place a cig on the end of it, and then stick it in a large cup with a little ice in it, and then smoke in the movie theaters. The ice kept the cup from heating up too much. Heh, we were such rebels. ...and you guys aren't working for NASA now???....
  13. I just never thought we'd have to have this discussion about the park no one supposedly goes to.....
  14. QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) Major League 2 was so awful compared to the original. But, good ol Harry Doyle had some good ones in 2 also. I enjoyed ML2 quite a bit - enough to buy the DVD, in fact. Now, "Back To The Minors"?????? :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke EDITED to verify that YES, I did in fact post practically the EXACT SAME thing as kdhargo, 22 minutes later!!!
  15. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) I doubt very much that there is any open-air stadium banning smoking. Though I would say it should be curbed around children. Especially the stoggies. That's the only problem I've had in the past. I find it's best to just ask the person to put it out when they light up & the smoke bothers any one in my party. I agree about curbing the smoking around kids, but the funny thing is, the earliest baseball memory I have is seeing the light standards of Comiskey Park as I walked toward the park and smelling some old dude's cigar smoke. Cherry. It smelled good to me, even as a 6-year-old. Whenever I smell a cigar I think about that for a second. It makes me smile every time. But I never did take up smoking - go figure.....well, I tried smoking for about 2 weeks in high school, but I didn't like it so I left it at that.
  16. The problem with public places is that they're full of the f***ing PUBLIC!!!!!
  17. QUOTE(Quality Revenge At Last @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 08:33 AM) and all those espn tools still like the cubs chances because of their pitching even if they are 20 games out....bah :puke Slight thread hijack: Hey, QRAL, you going to the final Hey Mercedes show at Metro? I'm not gonna be able to attend, and I'm bummed out. They are (were) a fine band and they'll be missed. Eleven To Your Seven is one of my all-time favorite songs.
  18. Ahhh, just give Crosby to the Rangers. New York's the only market that matters anyway, right? I don't trust either set of morons to get a deal done anytime soon. I saw some links to that story and didn't even click on them. I'll believe a deal when I see it, and I'll think about the NHL again when they finally drop a puck. I'm so sick of this whole situation. We should be enjoying the Stanley Cup playoffs right now, not thinking about a possible first step towards maybe finding some potential, hypothetical middle ground that could, if all things fall into place, perhaps pave the way towards an eventual settlement.
  19. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 09:05 AM) This is a silly thread. Are we still, after 9 pages, talking about people walking in the aisle? I understand the smoke. That makes sense. But to still be complaining about the aisles? Sorry folks, I have kids, if my daughter (age 7) has to use the bathroom, YOU can be bothered by my taking her to the facility. I am NOT in the 5th grade anymore, and I do NOT need your approval if I go to the bathroom or not. Sorry. People get up to use the bathroom during movies, but I don't yell at them. If you are a part of a "society" you need to learn to adapt, and understand. Sometimes people need to get up. If it is the same person over and over again, then there is a problem. But if you are complaining about just people in general, maybe you should try living in a cave where nobody will bother you. If my comments have been mentioned, I apologize for being redundant. But this is without a doubt the silliest complaint I have read yet. Amen.
  20. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) What's with that sig? too much to read. CLASSIC LEE ELIA!!!!! One of the funniest moments in Chicago sports media history, right alongside Ed Lynch's "Without you I don't have a JOB???" to Bruce Levine.
  21. "If you get a piece of it, you can re-name it...."
  22. Wow, simply outstanding start to this season. Could not have asked for more thus far!
  23. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) That's not my decision. "Yoo don' may dee foakeen lineoap....AYE DOO!!!!" One of my favorite Oz quotes ever!
  24. When her body was discovered March 18th, a detective notes, quote: "the victim was holding a purple colored stuffed dolphin toy in her arms." This line really got to me. That poor innocent little kid....oh, s***, this is beyond horrible. Whenever I hear about something like this, I think about my daughter and my heart just breaks for the people who loved these kids.
  25. Looks like she's as good at baking as she was at broadcasting....
