55 innings of 230 BABIP 4 FIP Reylo is not going to tell me that he deserves a shot to be a starter on an elite team next year. Rolling into the season with Reylo as the 5th starter would be terrible. His walks have gone way down but his zone % is actually lower than his career average. He's kept the pitches a little more competitive and gotten some people to expand their zone but I'm not banking on that going forward; he's not going to be facing the worst offenses in baseball over and over like he has for the most part this year. His walks regress because he's not throwing more strikes, and his BABIP comes back, and Reylo is trash. People really need to stop allowing these small stretches of baseball (where Reylo has been allowed to face A LOT of bad teams) to change a narrative entirely.
-
Man, I'll go with no thank you on that one. A FIP of 4 isn't bad, but I'm not banking on 55 innings of 4 FIP reylo to maintain over a full season. Results matter and happy he's doing well, but even tonight he's been more lucky than good.

YouTube TV & NBCSChicago...Ugh!

Have you guys tried to download the NBC sports app and link your Peacock Premium account to it and see if that works? Not sure that's even possible, but that might be the work around. -

Typically a RB or TE is going to chip. The Bears don't use their TE's - never throw them the ball - and their RB's very rarely motion out. You might be joking or being sarcastic, but it would make no sense to not keep more than 5 guys in against an elite pass rush. -

Garrett also said he's been chipped like 90% of snaps this year and last, but the Bears didn't chip him once and he was shocked. The Bears didn't chip him while also having a 40 year old retired LT. Amazing honestly. -

I'm like 99.9% sure Foles says "Matt's offense just isn't working." Even more damning. -
I think the funny part about this is I've been called a Hahn apologist here more times than I can count. I think Hahn in general has done a nice job, but at the same time I'm going to call out a deal that I think is a bad deal when I see one, regardless of who is making it.
-
Sure, but it's also not guaranteed. No GM is making a trade thinking if we get swept in the first round, we lost that trade no matter what. Kimbrel's impact on the playoffs is not nearly as significant as people here want to make it out to be. There's nothing that says the Sox couldn't have used another arm to be equally effective in a small sample. It's like the Chapman nonsense, the guy had an ERA over 3.5 in the playoffs for the Cubs but people act like he won the Cubs the World Series. Countless other relievers could have produced his numbers in the playoffs that year. You're not replacing Kimbrel with Aaron Burr.
-
Yes I hated the trade for the exact reason that it now stinks. Relievers are volatile and not worth that kind of investment. Kimbrel was not the best rp on the market. People really need to stop drawing conclusions from 30 innings. Iglesias has been better than Kimbrel for four years. And is a two inning reliever, which for the Sox need much more. And sorry but trades aren't assessed based on what you deem important. Production throughout the duration of the Deal, given the price, was imperative for this to work.
-
Lol so sox get swept in first round they lost the deal no matter what? Ok
-
This angle is nonsense. They acquired them for the stretch run, to hopefully get a 1 or 2 seed and have home field which they did not get because those guys stink.
-
Yes, we all understand that you think all catchers are "part time" players because they don't catch every single game. Why would Lynn give a shit about a game that had no meaning? The team clinched and could not improve their seed. It might as well have been a warm-up exhibition game to prepare for the playoffs. Sal Perez played 153 games and was worth less than Grandal who played 83. lol As for your article, it says the following: " What annoys me about Lynn is that whether he wants to be or not, he’s a role model. I used to tell my son that if he wants to be an athlete he must eat right. I wonder how many 12-year-olds see Lance Lynn as proof that it’s OK to stuff your face with everything you find. If Lynn can’t control his weight at 34, what are the odds he does it at 50? That’s why I mention John McSherry. The clock is ticking. " Maybe parents should work on being better parents? I can't listen to any clown who says an athlete should be a certain way to help teach other peoples kids how to act.

They could have gotten Kris Bryant without giving up Madrigal. Bryant would have had a much greater impact on this team. I said this the day of the trade. Hahn's strategy never ever made sense. It was terrible. This was after missing out on the actual power-first 2nd baseman and getting one whose power was very obviously much less sustainable. Hahn failed miserably at the deadline.
-
Yeah, it actually was important which was why the deal was atrocious. If you wanted to trade Madrigal you should have actually gotten a non-volatile impact player for the end of this year. Can you bump your bullpen thread you created after that trade? Always good for a laugh.
-
Kimbrel was bad for the two years prior; he had been fading for his last 2 years in Boston as well. It's amazing how Madrigal is knocked by you while you flat out ignore what Kimbrel had shown for years prior to a good 30 innings this year. I sure hope you aren't in the investment world with your buy high and sell low strategy. It's OK to be wrong. The trade sucked. Kimbrel isn't the superstar reliever he was in his 20's. You got the volatile guy that he has become and it was an atrocious deal. And now you're stuck with an 18 million dollar 8th inning guy next year who could be mediocre. If his option is picked up and he's not traded, Kimbrel no doubt prevents the Sox from making a move that would help the team much more than him next year.
-
Oh my, you're still here stanning for this move. Amazing. I'll say it probably for the 30th time. Madrigal for Kimbrel would have been laughable at the beginning of the season. Thirty innings from an aging expensive reliever should have never ever changed that. It's absolutely amazing to me you still think this was a smart move.

Luis Robert, closing in on one full season statistically
Look at Ray Ray Run replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This just isn't true. Correlation does not equal causation here. People with better plate discipline may be better hitters on average but walking more doesn't signify a higher batting average. High BABIPs have a lot of impacting factors; speed, going the other way, hard hit rate and etc. Those are all things Robert has become elite at. Will he hit 355 next year? Probably not, but if he hits a few more home runs and maintains a similar approach his average should be much better than people expected. -
Well yes, obviously, since the Sox didn't stretch him out. Not sure what you didn't grasp from my initial post.
-
All I can do is laugh at this point; sure would be nice if he was stretched out for the playoffs. SMH

Today is Clinch Day… Date Yourself

Governments fault; they decided that we shouldn't be allowed to play online. I thought it would just be a short hiatus, but here we are 13 years later and it's still not legalized on a federal level. Unreal. -

I am absolutely blown away that you're 30 or younger. In 2008 I was 21 living the dream; was playing cards online and traveling the country/world taking my friends along for the ride. Was at the blackout game as well. Now I'm just another working schmuck grinding away a desk job.
