Guy, he clearly didnt misspeak. He believed it, thats why he said it so effortlessly repeatedly. Being a switch hitter is a unique quality. Its not like he called a righty a lefty or something. Switch hitting is a unique attribute. Jeeze, it's not a huge deal imo but the people trying to claim he knew the truth in spite of reality are just odd.

That said, he's wasnt acquired for his bat and he wouldnt be any better of a bad hitter if he switch hit. In fact, probably easier to improve one side than both!

To be clear, you were scouring the internet for 1940's players who had changed to switch hitting during their MLB career instead of just saying Acuna bats right handed and this was a mistake. That's probably where the "Getz can do no wrong" moniker comes in play on this one.

Of guys who threw 100+ innings last year, Fedde had the worst K-BB%. While you can succeed without being elite there, it's more rare and no one is succeeding below 3%! He also had the 2nd lowest K-Rate, all paired with the 12th worst hard hit rate in baseball. If they can get something out of Fedde again, I'll throw them a parade myself. He's in a small group of worst starters in baseball.

"Hahn couldn't develop a prospect to save his life." Somehow having 5 position players as league average or better as young players isn't as good as having... two. Getz then gets credit for developing Teel and Vargas who spent no time or very little time in the minors but Hahn doesn't get credit for his guys because they were acquired or too high of prospects ha. I said it elsewhere, but if Montgomery is as good as Anderson in his first 6-7 years with the White Sox that would be a huge win. Nothing you've presented aligns with the reality of the situations. This rebuild is in a worse position than the prior rebuild at the same point - both pitching wise AND offensively. Hahn made better trades than Getz to rebuild the roster. The White Sox have the 2nd most projected losses again in 2026. Brooks Baldwin being cited as some proof of concept is also wild. I'll add one last point. You keep citing how the offense finished last year as being the compelling part. The 2019 White Sox had a 102 wRC+ from August 1st through end of year in 2019. The 2025 White Sox had a 95 wRC+ from August 1st through end of year last year. You're trying to rewrite history. The last rebuild and set of young players were BETTER than this group out of the gate. It wasn't even close.

The 2019/2020 team had pitching. For CWS to say he hadn't seen young guys come up and contribute right away under Hahn is just blacking out a reality that occurred 6 years ago! The 2019 team, that won 72 games, got 4.2 bWAR from TA, 5.1 bWAR from Moncada, a 116 OPS+ from Eloy, a 5.4 WAR from Giolito, with Cease showing great strike out ability and Reylo existing. They also had Madrigal and Robert in the wings to come up as a plus prospect and an elite one. The following year, they won the division, and on a per 160 basis, they had the following WAR totals (obviously 2020 has a bit of an asterisk across the league): 3.16 7.29 2.79 8.26 1.86 4.12 5.5 5 of the above were 27 or younger. Those are JUST the position players. That team also had Giolito, CROCHET, Cease, Reylo, and Dunning. All who had more promise as pitchers than anyone the Sox have today with the exception of Smith who is on par with Reylo. Repainting right now as being more promising than 2019/2020 is hilarious.

The teams that should spend and dont are the problem, not the other way around. Nothing wrong with the Tigers qualifying for that and spending big.

I have no idea when those guys learned or tried it, but i said in the MLB which clearly disqualifies Eddie. Id bet some of those other guys tried it in the minors first too but I dont know since I wasnt alive when any of those guys played. This entire conversation shows the extent youll go to claim Getz isnt/wasnt wrong. Acuna is not a switch hitter and will not suddenly start switch hitting. I stand by what I said, im not aware of anyone nor have I seen anyone pick up switch hitting at the MLB level. Batting and throwing are both learned abilities that aren't predicated on your handedness. Hence why you have lefty hitting short stops who throw righty and righty hitting pitchers that throw lefty. Im not sure why you think switch hitting is something guys just pick up.

Eloy first 170 games was 3+ WAR and 45 hrs. Moncada was 8 war over first two seasons. Robert was 6-7 over his start. Anderson was at 4 WAR per 160 for like 5 years. I won't even go into the pitching. Your representation of the past vs the current isn't a reality.

He's not, never has been. I'm not aware of any player who started switch hitting in the big leagues. He's not switching to being a switch hitter, i think that much is obvious. He of course hit right handed in winter league because he's a right handed hitter. Our GM doesn't know the handedness of an acquisition he made. Yikes.

I agree there's credit for colson development. This discussion had been about scouting and bringing in/fixing players. Can't get credit for fixing your own guys. An actual fix opportunity at this point is curtis Mead. If he puts up a 110ish ops+ and 2 war then that's a fixed scenario. Beating all projections easily. edit: I'll also add that I was one of the few here who never soured on Colson and never worried about the ups and downs --- only the back. Even a few of our resident optimists were lower on him than me by a good bit.

When the Sox acquired Vargas, his 2025 Projected WAR was 1.2 and his projected OPS+ was 102. He finished at 1.3 and 101. Just because some people like to overreact to 400 MLB at bats and decided that was who Miguel Vargas was for the rest of his career, doesn't mean that's actually what was expected of him. The Sox haven't gotten more out of Vargas, they got exactly what was expected out of him. Hardly a case of fixing a guy.

Fixing is getting something more out of player than expected. Not getting the 50 median outcome of their statistical trajectory.

They didnt fix Vargas. Vargas has performed exactly in line with his projections from the day they acquired him. Not sure why people continue to sing the fixed Vargas praises. Montgomery has only ever been in there system. They dont get credit for "fixing" something they created.

Fedde will be out of baseball before the year ends.

Low on base, high K. That profile is perceived as more risky, especially as you age, so guys with that profile haven't been getting paid post 30. It also didn't help Saurez that the first time he was set to hit free agency, he had the worst year of his career. In the past 25 years, of over 1100 qualified players, there have been 52 player who have run a K-rate as high as Suarez with an OBP at his level or lower. Of those 52, only 10 had positive offensive profiles over that period (wRC+ at 100 or greater). Of those 10, none of them have aged well: Gallo, Chris Davis, Stevn Souza Jr, Chris Carter, Patrick Wisdom, and Franmil Reyes to name a few. I get the hesitance with his profile, and don't think it's driven by anything but his production. He's a good player though, no doubt. Just rare type of success which teams are more hesitant to bet on.
