How to Handle Kopech in 2020
No way they pull him from the rotation in a pennant race. Youd have strasberg drama all over again. You limit him early. Skip him everytime you can and just have him throw on those days. Gradually work up the workload as the season goes on. He may not pitch in a game every week but he'll be throwing and maintaining conditioning in a controlled setting which allows him to work on his control and stuff still, while limiting the strenuous innings of mlb baseball. As for high level pitchers - the numbers are much better for older pitchers today than they were a decade ago. For whatever reason, with the increase in run scoring, older pitchers have improved significantly while younger pitchers have struggled much more. 25-29 is still king though and signing a pitcher into his mid 30's is rarely a good idea... but sometimes you get Max Scherzer.

Free Agency - How confident are you?
Pederson is fine in right.

Ozuna is a bad LF'er, I dont think you can put him in right and eloy in left. Robert better be Buxton 2.0 defensively if they do that.

7/20 Games
I get excited for the unknown paddy guys. That's what he's known for and good at - as he preaches, quantity is king with young kids. I get excited about Bailey because he's 6'4 and 215 and playing outfield with some speed. The plate discipline is nice but in DSL it really means nothing. Robert walked a ton there. He could grow into being a complete monster, fast. His tall lanky body. Maybe an alex rios type at his top tier ceiling.

Luis Robert
What? Franco was the #1 international prospect and also has a 930 ops at 18 with more walks than k's. How is he anything like Maitan? The guy asked who the best position player was in the minors right now. Luis Robert is probably the MiLPOY right now. We'll see how it finishes. No idea where you come up with these other thoughts.

What is about potential? The guy asked about the best position player in the minors today - not prospect for the big leagues Robert has an 1062 ops with 32 steals and top level defense at a premium position. Wander better plate discipline but at lower levels as well.

Every single player is different. They should expect some adjustment period but you never know.

How has franco been better than Robert? Robert, at this moment, is the minor league POY. Franco might be a better prospect (I'd argue that but the majority disagree with me) but no way he's been a better player this year. And the minor league POY is very often not a SS or pitcher. Also, trevor story is 22nd in sprint speed so whatever article you read made that up.

Robert's ft/second clocked in at 31.2 in the futures game to first base. Buxton averages 30.3 ft/second this year. They're close I imagine.

Goins Called Up; Minaya Clears Waivers, Outrighted to AAA
Thankful to who? Part of the commitment to rebuilding was the three tradable assets they had - it was one of the motivating factors. I'm not sure what your point is. No one alive was arguing they had a good farm system before the rebuild started.

Goins Called Up; Minaya Clears Waivers, Outrighted to AAA
What? For one given year you think more than 4-5 people will make significant impact?

Goins Called Up; Minaya Clears Waivers, Outrighted to AAA
Yeah, most teams turn their #10 ranked prospect into MLB superstars. The hilarious thing about being critical of this is that 2 of these guys are all-star caliber players lol. The 3rd looked great before TJ and the 4th is still in the big leagues showing flashes at times but lacking consistency.

Eloy going on IL
I felt that way until his AAA promotion. You cant just let the guy hit 350 with tons of bombs and steals in AAA for the rest of the year. Can you?
-
Eloy going on IL
The spark that Luis would have provided would have been a ton of fun. Hopefully soon!

Goins Called Up; Minaya Clears Waivers, Outrighted to AAA
So of course it doesnt include their actual prospects but you wanted to be critical just for the sake of being critical. Makes sense.
-
Eloy going on IL
The way he was quenching his fist, this actually makes a ton of sense.
-
Eloy going on IL
He could literally have TJ and be back to hitting for a full season like Ohtani. It hurt micker way more than it would hurt Eloy because Micker had a fucking 80 grade arm - devastating if that never comes back. I wanted to see a guy go right field to home at 100 MPH - Micker had the best arm in minor league baseball.
-
Eloy going on IL
How though? Brunt force doesnt really lead to a muscle tear. I am guessing he hyperextended it and they are sending him back to Chicago to get an MRI and make sure he didnt tear anything in the process.

2019 Trade Deadline Predictions
Sell high on a young controllable reliever with a 98 mph sinker?
-
2019 Trade Deadline Predictions
How is it too late to get Greinke? How could Greinke ever classify as an inning eater? He's a top 10 pitcher in baseball who has shown the ability to pitch and succeed at 90 MPH.
-
2019 Trade Deadline Predictions
Greinke is not going to cost "more than Rutherford" given his contract obligations and the DBacks current position.
-
2019 Trade Deadline Predictions
I actually think Greinke would be the perfect add. He is one of the few pitchers alive that can be great throwing 89 mph and it's because his understanding of modern technology and it's implementation. Greinke knows how to pitch better than pretty much anyone alive and maybe he could teach young guys that.

It's literally 1000% percent more money so it is, in fact, much different.

So if no one offered him that he would have retired? Come on Jack, you're a smart guy. Your last paragraph is so wrong Jack idk what to tell you. So he was gonna hold out for two more years or sign a 1 year deal and expose himself to risk of injury or depleting skills... he was never worth more than he was worth this offseason. Hes not getting young. He wouldnt take a 1 year deal and push off free agency another year. That's nonsense. If I have a $10 bill and I want to sell it for change because I need change... of 32 people, 28 of them offer me 9.95 because they know I'm desperate. 2 guys offer me $10, one guy $11 because he really hates change and one guy offers $14 because he really hates change and hates $11 man. It wouldnt mean that $11 is no longer a competitive offer... it would simply mean someone was willing to pay even more than 99% of others thought it was worth. A competitive offer would be anything north of what the majority viewed its value as. I should have used the value of a home and not a $10 bill since player values fluctuate based on organization but I'm too lazy to retype it and you get the point.
