Gabe Kapler
Kapler would be an awful hire. The guy covered up sexual assault when he was with the Dodgers. I'm good. https://www.theringer.com/mlb/2019/2/6/18213283/gabe-kapler-los-angeles-dodgers-philadelphia-phillies

Saint of Second Chances- New Netflix Doc
Loved this. Couldn't recommend it enough.

You're obsessed with this vizquel thing. Chris Getz was given a piece of paper and he read it. Vizquel was in the game for 30 years and plenty of people said nice things about him. He was a bad guy. Chris Getz has a lot of question marks but reading a statement written by white sox council isn't one of them.

They're going to lose 100+ games and this moron won't sacrifice a win today for possible future wins via development. This is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard a professional coach say.

Getz goes into detail...
This is crazy talk; Chris Getz is set for life in the baseball world and he owes it to Jerry. What a break. Jim Bowden still has a job in the baseball space and he is about as toxic as you can find.

What's Left For Sox Fans?
Yeah, people keep saying it could but it just really can't... This was the peak year of a "contention" window when they were "All-in" and they are going to lose 100 games. They may lose 100 games again under Getz, but there will never be a more hyped failure than this team this year for me. I have watched plenty of bad baseball, that's what it is... I'll be back for that... but the expectations and kind of failure this year is unmatched in my lifetime.

JR Speaks (gasp!)...
I actually think the industry definitely over corrected a bit on the scouting side and that part isn't that dumb.

After an exhaustive search, Getz named GM/VP
Yeah, this is where I am. Also, this is obviously a ridiculous hire. No way around that. But unlike some others I'll take anything over Rick and for me, I'd much rather have a complete unknown than an old-game retread. Getz was a bad hire but it wasn't the worst hire. Dayton Moore, for example, would have been a much worse POBO. I got excited for deangelo Jimenez and Brett Lawrie, so I'm not going to pretend I won't give something new a shot. And to me... at least the failure won't be followed up the exact same guy spewing completely insulting bullshit. I would give caufield a chance at running this if it just meant I could stop listening to Rick Hahn and everyone who makes mini excuses for his colossal ineptitude. So this for me is a win because the bar for a win was set so low, I'll take what I can.

Chris Getz did not write that statement.

Repeat after me, it can only get better than Hahn. Because there's no such thing as worse than the current state of affairs.

Reinsdorf considers moving White Sox out of Guaranteed Rate Field or selling team
I think an AH shared sports complex and entertainment area would actually be pretty awesome..

Rizzo can run and build an org. He would be a great add.

Brian Kenny on White Sox front office...
I will never stop being amazed at all the excuses made for Rick Hahn.

Cali, I'm telling you that it doesn't matter what Jerry wants or thinks, he's a business man. If I can model and project an roi based on these investments that exceeds the roi under the current structure, Jerry would buy in. The job of management is to push and sell these ideas to make them viable and feasible in ownerships eyes. I deal with this daily. C-suit and BOD's are hesitant to make overhauls or change. My job is to assess exposure/liability, identify gaps, and overhaul systematic structures to realign a business or process in a way that is beneficial for the organization. The most common thing I hear is we tried this a few years ago or etc and it was shot down so we stopped/gave up. This breeds complacency which is what we saw with the Sox. It's not that people like Jerry refuse to change, it's that the people around them accept the status quo and that permeates onto anyone who comes in below those leaders.

Agreed. Problem is he learned from two crappy systems but maybe he has fresh ideas and can overhaul things. Better than Rick or Dayton in charge.

Fire Chris Getz
I'm right there with you. Rooting for better but will literally take scraps. I hate "experience" generally speaking in a space like baseball. Too much experience in that space almost guarantees you're a dinosaur. And you need to be a trend setter not a follower in that type of industry and too much experience hampers that imo. I'd rather give a new set of eyes a shot than some retread with a inconsistent history. I'd probably draw that line somewhere around rizzo.

I never said you had to play, I was merely asking what qualifications were in herbs mind.
-
Fire Chris Getz
Yeah, very unsure as to what herb makes one qualified for these roles. Getz worked his way up through the system same as others. You can argue with his results and etc and think he's not deserving, but not sure how a lawyer with no baseball knowledge or background beyond contracts is more deserving or qualified than a former big leaguer who worked in the scouting space. The WORST thing about chris Getz, ironically enough, is he's tied to Rick Hahn.

One thing you notice as you rise the corporate and financial ladders is a lot of people you've gone past are a hell of a lot smarter than the people you are joining and bumping shoulders with closer to the top

Rick Hahn has been here for literal decades. The Sox cut their old school scouting budget but then turned out they spent nothing on analytics, tech or new school techniques. Hahn was a bot, which makes all the Hahnbots that much more understandable.

After an exhaustive search, Getz named GM/VP
Yeah, I see that everyday in my job. Nature of what I do, and it's bad management. Guiding ownership and executives is a part of managing and how you present ideas and budgets and etc are a big component of that job. Ownership can remain as archaic as they want, and management needs to present the change in a relatable fashion.

After an exhaustive search, Getz named GM/VP
No business man cares about where it's spent as long as the return is there. This notion that reinsdorf wouldn't trade 5 million in payroll for 2 million in an analytics department is such nonsense and classic Hahn excuse making.

Ding ding ding.

KW/Hahn - They Gone
Rick Hahn sure is a good pr manager is what I've learned.
-
KW/Hahn - They Gone
Hahn has set the bar so low that almost anyone is an upgrade.
