Pitchers and Catchers Report
The "ace upstart" with the lifetime 4.48 era. I get he has potential and we might make a trade even up for a Vaughn type. No way are we making 3 or 4 to 1 trades for a #4 rotation piece. Frankly...I would prefer Mike Leake and give up nobody.

Leake should be on that list.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
I would go low 20's with lots of bonuses for innings, quality starts, etc. Bauer thinks he is better than everyone else...let him put his money where his mouth is. Keep his contract from being a disaster if he is just a little more average than he thinks.

Pitchers and Catchers Report
He means trading important players from the major league roster or top prospects for a player whose equal is available in free agency for only money.

And you can get that without giving up anyone.

Why would you want to believe there is an ounce of truth in getting screwed like this?

Jose Quintana...Signs with Angels (1YR 8M)
I think not getting Q at this price means it's a sure thing that something bigger and better is brewing.

I ASSume you are correct.?

I don't...Kopech for Burnes is more than fair. Kopech has more upside and Burnes has done a little something in a shortened season.

Jose Quintana...Signs with Angels (1YR 8M)
I think this is the correct take on the Q signing. Something is going down soon I would imagine.

Jose Quintana...Signs with Angels (1YR 8M)
It certainly was an obvious fit. Probably means there is another plan that is bigger and better. We can hope.

You forgot Moncada and Roberts.

Agreed! Absolutely nut IMO.

Please...just get that starter from the FA aisle. They have lots of different people with different skills and price points to choose from. You can keep our future moving forward while having that starting pitcher we all want.

Are the White Sox "done" making moves until spring training?
With guys like Q and Leake costing only money...why would anyone trade two important pieces of the club for Paddack?
-
$15m and two moves to finish the roster
Super utility guys get noticed when they play for a winner on the big stage. We should be attractive to anyone we want at this time.

MLB 2020-21 off season catch all
Their "window" has slammed shut. This would be an excellent time for JR & company to step on the gas. This town is there for the taking.?

Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers
With our offense and BP... give me a guy who can give us 6 reasonable innings and I'll show you a guy with some W's.

Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers
You should have said his name a couple more times. He's an excellent thought.

I like Mike Leake. He is a small guy and not a strike out type which is probably why no one seems to talk about him. Like you say...an innings eater. He would be great as a place holder for Kopech. Fits the 4/5 spot in the rotation very nicely. Nice guy for SP depth as we wait for our young guys to mature.

I like the ole saying..." some of the best trades are the ones not made". You only risk money with signing a FA. These prospects can come back to bite you for years. Just my opinion.

By gets real I mean no team is going to pay him like a no doubt about it best pitcher in baseball. He is proven to be one of the best but 35 million per year guaranteed isn't going to happen. I would think his best guaranteed contract might be something like 25 per for 5 years. I would think something like 20 million per for 5 years with real bonuses for games pitched, Cy Youngs, wins above15 or whatever the FO hopes to get out of him. Mainly I don't mind giving a guy like him good money but face it...if he doesn't perform like the best pitcher in baseball he thinks he is...I don't want to be paying him like he is. Seems like the kind of guy who wouldn't mind betting on himself.

I think Quintana is the probable acquisition to round out the rotation. However, I do believe that if Bauer gets real...the WS would make him a very nice incentive-based offer. Since he seems to have great self-esteem...he might just like that sort of thing.

Good!

We are very nice and we will discuss his accomplishments ad nauseam.
