A Realistic Offseason
If WS sign Cole the second pitcher could be a Nova type... If we sign Wheeler than the second pitcher needs to be something like Ryu...If we sign Wheeler and Cole then becomes available you now have Lopez or someone else for trade ammo. I'm saying get pitching and don't worry about it. The better pitching you have the more ammo you have.

Grandal - Early Off-Season Speculation
I agree. Joc appears to be the safe bet.

Angels sign Rendon - 7yrs 245
Didn't hurt Harper.

Nothing is guaranteed but I hope you are wrong.

A Realistic Offseason
I don't believe we or any other team is not interested in TOR guys. It is totally about what we are willing to pay VS others. There is nothing wrong with having a max budget and not going higher. Trout would appeal to anyone but half a billion would have been higher than my risk tolerance. I think most on here will be pleasantly surprised with what we get and what JR is willing to spend. We might even get in on some players that are bargains that weren't expected. Budget and salary constraints will leave some good players available.

I have to admit...that list is gruesome.

What...No Cole?

Division winning? That roster would have a good chance of going all the way. ?

Trade Candidates: Hitters
Boston is paying over 12 million in over cap tax penalties. They need to do something and are not in position to hold anyone up. They may be a good trade partner especially with a new GM. New guys seem more willing to trade players they didn't bring into the organization. David Price might be part of such a deal.

Cole or Strasburg?
This just might be the year. Keep the faith.

Castrovince picks the White Sox to win the Central
I don't know...this Castrovince seems pretty darn sharp to me.

Eloy snubbed for ROY final 3...
Seems about right.

Rick Hahn's Resume as GM
I'm most intrigued by Jirschele and everyone thinks Vizquel is heir apparent. So I guess Grudzilanek is least interesting of the 3 primary managers I was thinking about. However...a 15 year major leaguer probably understands the game pretty well. It seems everytime we send a player down to AAA they come back playing a little better.

Keuchel would be OK as the rotation filler to eat innings. He is really a third tier starter.

They would get the fifth year out of me if they could say yes fast.

I like Getz. I actually like all the minor league managers as well.

Angels sign Rendon - 7yrs 245
Madrigal will be with us in 10 years when the others have moved on. He will be the next to sign an extension IMO.

Rendon is better than Machado but still think money should to be spent where the needs are. That would be starting pitching, RF and DH primarily.

A Realistic Offseason
If FO intention would be to move Yoan to RF I would love the move. Moving him to second and trading Madrigal is a non starter for me.

I like it myself but best if we fly under the radar this time around.

I agree that Friedman and Beane are top notch. You are also correct about reference to "teams have excelled in identifying that talent." More than RH are involved in player selection.
