but Gounod and Bioto did!

I assume that is the the Worst category. It will be very hard for anyone to top my best with Fisk and your worst with Navarro.

Favorite Sox Or just overall baseball moment

bulls***, youngin.' Bonds is what, 38 - he doesn't have to do those gimmick things anymore, he has nothing left to prove, and why should he, he has done them enough. Bonds graciosuly stepped aside to creat new ambassadors for baseball. Let the younger, newer, upcoming stars have their moment and create new heroes. Exactly what happened, what Bonds did, and that was in MLB's best interest. And yes, I was there for the home run derby, which is a gimmick. Bonds put on a very generous home run derby at USCF over 3 games in June. For everyone I have seen, he has entered the Reggie Jackson (most powerful) Dick Allen (quickest) Frank Thomas (mighty wallops) pantheon of home runs hitters I have seen that made me go "oh my" on a repeated basis. -
Best ever: the only Pudge, Red Sox number 27 reversed to White Sox 72, the only and only Carlton Fisk

you have no idea how much ridicule Bulls fans were getting by Pistons fans for adoring Rodman, But it is not a perfect analogy, in fact, far, far, far from it. Rodman came to the Bulls as a ring-bearer, two of them. He wasn't the hot dog steriod me-me-me player that sam-me is. He came to the Bulls as one of the 50 best players of all time and an extraordinary rebounder and very unselfish player. He had already won 2 NBA rings. So the analogy fails. The place where Rodman signing had some predictive merit was back in post season 1996, I was specualting with a Tribe fan about off season moves and it suddenly struck me Rodman was signed by Reinsdorf, the parallel would be Reinsdorf signing Belle. And somewhere you find Joh Hoch, graduate of K College, he will verify that I was the first to call that signing months before it happened. But the analogy of Sosa to Rodman fails.

Worst trades: any trade Veeck made in 59, the 60s, and 70s, since he consistently traded away our future to save a few bucks and he costs us many pennants. best trade: any made by Trader Laine in the 50s pre Veeck. really best trade - the little one that was made between the cubs and Sox that got Luke Appling to the south side when he headed north thinking he was going to the north side

No, Tex, at least not for me. I remember when he frst came to us in the trade with Texas. He was lithe, fast, and what an arm. In the next two years we saw nothing. He did not grow as a player, imn fact he regressed on the field. He was overloaded with jewelry and an obvioous headcase and not coachable and a disruption. I rejoiced when we traded him away. We got what we wanted in 1993. Who knew he would turn in steroid boy but that he is a disruptiuve egomaniac, that we knew. And it isn't remotely guarenteed that had we had Sosa we would have won this or that. That is speculation. Our drafting would be different, our draft positions would have been different perhaps, and our trades would have been different and certainly factoring in personalities in the clubhouse, who knows if anything would have happened postive at all. Maybe we should presume that Herm would have kept Sam-me off the roids and so Sosa would have never hit over 10 home runs. And a sam-me less Cubs team might have had far greater sucess. All of these imagings on a cold winter today are expected. Nothing remotely can be guarenteed. The imaginings for the most part never take in all the possibilities, just selected ones. Without Sam-me we won in 1993, I will give uis 1994, and 2000, and we hung in until midSeptember in 2003. With Sam-me they won in 2003. So we are ahead of the game. Everyone moping because the cubs got 5 outs away - get over it. They didn't get there. Many of us knew they wouldn't there. They had a fluke year in a very weak division, weaker than ours. And for the literary minded, read or see Faust (isn't it currently at the Lyric?), or Mephistopholes, or Faustus, or Mephisto (available on video if not on dvd) or something, and check out what happens to the seller of one's soul.

Lowe had his good momenrs and his bad moments (which no one remembers - I remember 4 straght walks to lose a game) and his attitude got way negative - he has nothing elsewhere so giving him up was no great loss other than as that trade turned out to be one that sounded good and played terrible due to Ritchie
-
that was one of the best trades ever whatever Sosa was he was not one of us and whatever his numbers we did not need sterioid boy egomaniac Mr Selfish corkek bat on our team. so he hit some big numbers. we did not sell our soul to the devil as the cubs have to have that Anti-team player on ther roster.

totally. Sirotka/Wells was not a bad trade - Wells at least pitched some games for us and some our pitchers said wells taught them a few things. My fav Siro has never pitched again. Clayton for Myette, not that bad we didn't give up much, we all thought we needed a quality shortstop and no one could have known that Royce would have an affair with Frank's ex to destroy clubhouse calm

not sure that I understand the deadline policy for when the picks needed to be in I am really angry with myself - I made two picks for sentimental reasons and thus over ruled my head, I picked MSU because I thought SuperSteve would take that as a nod to a hoped for friendship, and picked FSU for the same reason regardng Spiff - and had I gone with my instincts, I'd be doing better here, 2 games better and in 1st, but I went with wrong picks for dumb and sentimental reasons and right now I am really down on myself - you know I never win a damn thing and this is just so typical of the reason why. I think I will no longer participate in any of these contests because I am sure to lose and sure to lose because I know better but still make dumb picks anyway for reasons that don't do me a damn bit of good anyhow. Just label me loser forever and let it be.

Luke Boone played 2nd - Ray Boone played short of course one is old and one is dead but they'd work cheap, probably -
it is a team game, we will never totally live or die by one player

I have pulled for Illinois in their bowl games - and I despise Illinois for cause. (I could add it is typical for an Ill fan to say they won't cheer for Michigan in a bowl - sad that it was DK who said that since DK is a great guy. I remind that when the Illini went to the Sugar Bowl you didn't beat Michigan but we all were hoping you would win your bowl. But on second thought, I won't point that out at all.) As has been pointed out, when Big 10 teams play each other, all the emotions flow and when Big 10 teams play outside the league, we stick together. It does no Big 10 school proud if the rest of the conferance goes down in flames.

which country on passport? That is a game that I do not do well in - I stagger to just make the bonus points barely every time. Congrats on the 100,000!

I am probably not going to be around later and right now I am of course very disappointed and yet hopeful. I remain very proud of Michigan no matter what happens in the final 3 minutes. I am surprised that an Indiana fan would pull for Purdue to lose, or an MSU fan for Michigan to lose, in the bowl games. Real football fans, real Big 10 school fans, always pull for the Big 10 teams. My 4 year old grandson knows that. I was cheering for MSU on Monday and cheered for Purdue today as I root for every Big 10 team in their bowl games. Of course one can choose to be petty. But what a selfish way to live. Hell, it doesn't mean anything but I'll even be pulling for FSU tonight because the brother of a good friend and also Spiff are FSU fans and you do things for friends.
