  1. I don’t know. I find them interesting to watch in a train wreck sort of way. The sox were unwatchable because they played a very boring brand of bad baseball.
  2. One of these days, maybe a mega superstar in their prime who can single handedly make your team more successful will become available.
  3. Completely disagree. If that’s what it takes to sign a first ballot hall of famer in his prime then that’s what you do.
  4. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s awesome how guys like Acuna, Soto, Carroll, Merrill, etc became stars almost instantly. But man, that has completely warped our expectations and timelines of all other prospects.
  5. Definitely thought Jeff Bolker was another minor league signing before clicking into the thread.
  6. I always get a kick out of when the “playing a kids game” line is dropped. We acknowledge that it’s a business, while doing our own roster and payroll breakdowns. We buy expensive clothing with players names on the back. We get upset at players when they don’t meet our expectations. We take it all very seriously. But when it’s convenient to the argument, we simply minimize it to a silly children’s game.
  7. Right. It will figure itself out one way or another. Most likely in a “whose terrible glove do we not want out in the field today” sort of way.
  8. There’s so much strategy involved on the pitching side with pitch counts, off days, etc that I don’t really see bringing in a reliever as much of an advantage. On the contrary, for a golden batter/pinch hitter, you don’t have to factor anything else in other than “let’s send our best guy out there to hit.” And it’s not like they’ll be coming into the game cold like a traditional pinch hitter does.
  9. I would guess some sort of rotation that includes Vargas, Vaughn and Benintendi.
  10. Two points even
  11. Look, if you really want to showcase the game’s superstars more, another way to do it is to just eliminate those boring, good-for-nothing non superstars. Anyone that has an OPS under 700 falls through a trap door into a snake pit the next time they take the field. Baseball is evolving, folks. Get on the bus or get run over. (Oh yeah, there will also be a bus driving around on the field during play.)
  12. Filing this under “They need to make a bobblehead of someone.“
  13. Fully agree. But at the same time, at what point do you prioritize getting at bats for the guys you have vs the sign and flip guys? If they (hard emphasis on they) really want to find out if Fletcher, DeLoach, etc are in their future plans, at some point they have to commit to giving them regular at bats. Which, yeah, truly riveting stuff. Can you feel the excitement in the air?
  14. Getting thrown out an egress window lolol. That’s so much work for the one doing the throwing.
  15. I think we cashed in all our luck in 2005.
  16. I’m not following. All I’m saying is it’s kind of wild to assume that starting off with an already low asking price will result in a quicker resolution and/or higher return. I think the standard process would still play out. Getz has yet to show enough in trades that would lead me to believe this strategy would work out in his favor. What am I missing here?
  17. I think you’re underestimating Getz’s ability to start off with an already low asking price and still end up with a return even less than that.
  18. I love the idea of the 2024 team popping champagne when the 2025 team finishes with a worse record.
  19. I’m not sure if this says more about Vaughn or the state of the roster, but either way I’m lol’ing that Vaughn has a legitimate shot at either: 1. Being non-tendered by the worst team of all time 2. Being the Sox most productive hitter in 2025
  20. Are we not in the Upside Down now?
  21. I’m expecting an uninspiring but necessary SP signing ala Flexen to eat innings.
  22. So anyway… This is both funny and kind of interesting: https://bsky.app/profile/fangraphs.com/post/3lbf7ohlxo52p Wonder if we’ll see any “we trieds” leaked after Crochet is traded.
  23. When the book on the 2024 White Sox is being written, I hope they interview some posters here because evidently they have a lot of inside info on how things went down.
  24. I’m sure this will go over well
