  1. Sure, why not. And if he returns to his 2021-2023 form in the first half, that's a much better trade chip than Benny would be.
  2. Holding out hope for the Cigar Aficionado hit piece.
  3. I’m just as sick of Vaughn as the rest of y’all but, considering the context, I don’t see the harm in giving him one more chance to realize his potential. It’s going to be yet another season of seeing what you have in guys, so they certainly have the time. He isnt blocking anyone that’s more important to the future. The $6M price tag doesn’t matter since they will not be spending/reallocating that money in a meaningful way anyway.
  4. Each person in the department gets a Texas Instruments graphing calculator, a Baseball Digest magazine, and a kick me sign to go on their back.
  5. I understand the sentiment that there wouldn't be any sort of closure or enlightening responses from JR, but when that's the closest thing we have to even a inkling of accountability for the colossal failure he's created and subjected the fans to, then yeah, I think there's some satisfaction in that.
  6. Lol at this phrasing. Very controversial take here, but yes, I think the billionaire whose laziness and stubbornness is the principal reason the team sucks should indeed have to explain himself to the fans that he continues to take money from.
  7. Very brave of Jerry.
  8. Most of the players aren’t major leaguers and should never have been put in this situation. They were set up to fail.
  9. For all intents and purposes, that one specific person IS the team. And, fair or not, everyone else is guilty by association. They went from a World Series contender to the worst team in baseball history in three years. That is unfathomable. They do not get handed the benefit of the doubt, they have to earn it back. And they have a loooooong way to go.
  10. Both things can be true. 1) Sports fans are often stupid, irrational and mean-spirited (myself included) and it can definitely look silly in the grand scheme of things. 2) Due to the emotional connection many of us have with the team, we have every right to be upset. It’s supposed to be a pact between the team and fans. The fans buy in, literally and emotionally, and the team is supposed to hold up their end of the bargain. Instead, it’s a one-way relationship. The fans invest in the team, the team doesn’t give a s%*# about the fans. F*ck em.
  11. Battery about to die checks out.
  12. Rumor has it Dwigt Rortugal is off the table.
  13. W-L record definitely does not matter, especially with this team. And I get what you’re saying, but Touki or whoever else you have in mind was not going to give you 160 innings. Hell, going into the season, I just assumed Flexen would be a guy DFA’d by June. It’s not sexy by any means, but he provided value to the Sox by filling an SP slot so that they only had to juggle 3 of those spots all season and not 4.
  14. Yes and no. Ideally he’d have pitched well enough to flip at the deadline, but they also desperately needed an arm to eat innings just to get through the season.
  15. This fucking guy has a life time contract with the team.
  16. I understand the sentiment, but then what's the solution to getting a positional player core? Develop their own Trade for prospects Sign free agents Wish upon a star
  17. *Getz eagerly pulls up the 2022 prospect list* Edit: Oh, fathom beat me to this joke by like 12 hours
  18. It’s really annoying that JR gets to dodge the embarrassment of it happening at home, all while collecting an unexpected amount of $ from these relatively large crowds.

Are we really comparing strip clubs and tools to being emotionally invested in a sports team?
  20. Alright let’s do this.
  21. If he only wants to win his way, he doesn’t actually want to win that badly.
