  1. Yeah, I don't really get that one.
  2. Hey we agree! There’s a huge swath of middle ground between the two extremes of 1) instantly praising or trusting moves they make and 2) being proactively angry about any and every move. I’m just wondering what big measures you’re realistically hoping to see this offseason.
  3. So, nothing? (Signing Soto is not a realistic move)
  4. Serious question for those who strongly believe this: Short of JR being removed from the picture, exactly what kind of moves are you hoping to see that won’t be met with layers upon layers of snark? I completely understand not instantly celebrating the moves or giving the org the benefit of the doubt, because they don’t deserve either, but what it is a realistic move in your eyes that wouldn’t warrant an instant roll of the eyes and dismissal of said move?
  5. 7) Both had Bo Jackson
  6. Yeah that basically sums it up for me. - The title was great as a fan. - The team was legitimately great for that season. (You can’t really argue with going wire to wire in the regular season, then dominating the postseason.) - That team was also a fluke in the greater context of things. - That team also further solidified JR’s belief that doing things his way was the correct way, thus setting the organization up to be the failure that it has been since. All of these things can be true at the same time.
  7. The move talk definitely does give off a certain vibe
  8. And he also said earlier in the year that AJ was emerging as a serious candidate to replace Grifol. Look, obviously you can put as much meaning as you want behind what’s reported or not reported and what you think was leaked or not leaked, but personally I just don’t see the point.
  9. Sure, but he also said that Dayton Moore was joining the Sox when Getz was hired. Point being, he’s always in the know until he’s not.
  10. Evidently they were just waiting for my smart ass comment.
  11. Did I hear correctly that the offense is running the first 15 plays scripted? At this rate, that should take us to halfway through the 3rd quarter.
  12. Eh I think it’s fine to hear the thoughts of anyone on the major league roster who’s solidly in the team’s future plans, regardless of the team’s W-L record. The obvious problem, of course, being who the hell are those players for the Sox?
  13. lol the same Padres fan that also wants to get rid of Machado Side note: I’m glad that’s not you. That’s the timeline of a highly unstable person 😬
  14. Getz is over here playing chess while all those other turkeys are playing checkers.

Not gonna lie, when all I saw was the thread title before clicking into the actual thread, I already had my response of “bad” all queued up.
  16. Thorpe would have prevented the 24 inning scoreless streak and you can’t convince me otherwise.
  17. Agree, that was a big loss. But again, while Cease was obviously not good, he is not “public enemy number one” no matter how hard you try willing it into existence.
  18. Fortunately for the offense, all the Padres fans will remember is Dylan Cease pitching bad.
  19. Got a feeling the Yankees are gonna make quick work of whoever they face in the ALCS (sorry royals)
  20. Yes, he has been bad in the three(!) postseason starts he's made. That you think he's "missing the clutch gene" and is incapable of succeeding in the playoffs or whatever Skip Bayless ass take you're making here is obviously your right. But I truly don't care enough about the topic to see what your explanation is once he ends up fine over a larger sample size.
  21. As much as you seem to want that to be the case, that’s not “all that they’ll remember.” I mean, you can look at the post game thread on their subreddit now to see what they’re saying. Spoiler: It’s not what you’re hoping for.
  22. Nah. He’ll receive his fair share of criticism, as he should, but he played a big part in getting them to the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Padres offense got shutout in a bullpen game. If they lose tomorrow, it’ll be a group effort collapse.
  23. Just like that, Pads are in trouble. Hard to see them surviving game 5 in LA.
  24. Interesting. I thought they were a really complete team all season. Just ran into a hotter team/went cold at the wrong time (again).
