And That's a White Sox Winner!!!!!
QUOTE(TLAK @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 08:14 PM) For the record, in 04 the Sox were Shut out 8 times. 0-13 when scoring 1 run 1-23 when scoring 2 runs this adds up to 1-44 in low scoring games. So what you're saying is, expect 44 bad losses now?

So, how does the park look?
QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 04:47 PM) Is the Fundamentals deck accesable to all fans? Meaning can fans go up there to just hang out to watch the game? And if so how do you get up there? Are there stairs from the concorse or something? Also are the club level seats cushioned, or are the scout seats only cushioned? That would be awesome if all the new green seats will be cushioned. From TV the stadium is looking better and better each year. You can only gain access to the FUNdamentals with a child. So either you bring your own or abduct one once you get to the park. Only the scouts seats will be cusioned. Although complimentary massages are available if your uncushioned seat causes you problems.

"FUNdamentals" helping the Sox?
QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) The fences were moved in at his request before he even stepped a foot on the field. The park opened in 1991. The dimensions have been listed as the same from that time until 2001. Granted I may have attended a total of only 2 games at USCF during the Belle Era cuz I was out of state in college, but I don't recall the fences moving at any time during his tenure. And if they were, I don't think you can attribute the current configuration to Belle's request.

"FUNdamentals" helping the Sox?
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) Move home plate back, it would accomplish the same thing and also put the action closer to the seats behind the plate. No? Removing foul ground would make the park just at hitter friendly by reducing foul outs and giving hitters more attempts.... Also it couldn't be moved that far back, there's not much room down the lines.

"FUNdamentals" helping the Sox?
QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) They moved them in at Albert's request years ago.. they've been talking about moving them back out ever since he left. That doesn't pass the smell test. Albert spent 2 seasons on the Southside. He was out the door after a year and a half. He had played his final major league game before they had even broken ground on the first phase of renovations after the 2000 season. I seriously doubt the fences would be moved in as a consession to a player who hasn't played for the team in 2 seasons.

And That's a White Sox Winner!!!!!
QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 12:15 AM) That's more challenging than their original idea: Race Paul Konerko. They still have that one... It's in the Bullpen Sports Bar. First you have to chug a beer. Then you have to run carrying another, full beer. If you spill any beer, run while drinking, or don't finish your entire beer Pauly wins. That's the only way he has a chance.

Wilson Valdez
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) The weird thing is that the Mariners would have had to pass on him the first time around because all teams in the same league have first crack in the waiver process. They knew Pokey was heading to the DL, but when Valdez was put on Waivers the first time, they didn't know the status of Jose Lopez, who has now been diagnosed with a broken hamate bone and is out 4-6 weeks.

Official Final Four Thread
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 10:06 PM) Ohio State used to have the highest enrollment on a single campus? That still the case? I believe Minnesota may have passed them this past year. That could just be for undergrads though, it was just something I read casually on Gleeman's site. OSU was the largest for a long time.

And That's a White Sox Winner!!!!!
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) I sure did. It was hilarious. I was like AJ better not be bunting. The position to bunt was when Arow was on third, 1 out, sox up 1-0, Crede at the plate. (it's not like he's gonna get a hit)

Observations
Everyone remarking that Westbrook was dealing... Take a mental picture of his sinker..... OK now recall Jon Garland's best sinker. The two are not even close. I'm a big Jon Garland fan, but don't let anyone tell you how great his stuff is. It just doesn't stack up.

April 2005 Quotes of the Month
QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 11:19 PM) Classic and all too true for many of us! I LOLed when he used the front 7 joke a few months ago. I just spit Pepsi all over my computer when I read the PP part of it this time.

Observations
Just a pitcher's duel... We won these games at the begining of the year last season too... We started out like 11-1 in 1-run games.

***Opening Day Thread***
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 06:45 PM) He didn't get tossed, he was pulled. THen in typical punk cub fashion (like Wood did against STL last year) he goes after the Ump because he knew he couldn't be ejected. You're right he was pulled first... But he was still barking at the ump, and was Tossed(even though he was already gone)
-
Introductions
Opening day is a little different, they announce everyone, even the bench... I wouldn't be suprised to see them go back to the thundersturck stuff for the rest of the season.
-
***Opening Day Thread***
I missed it, but apparently Zambrano got himself tossed after 4.2IP today for the cubs... Anyone wanna place bets on him finishing with 19 victories on the season now, seeing as he squandered pretty much a sure victory today because he couldn't keep his mouth shut.
