He's selling a rolex on E-bay -- He's from Chicago.

He's a cubs beat reporter. He's used to writing "wait til next year" columns in April.

Your thoughts about Jason Grimsley?

So basically you have to hand it to Baird. He got a decent prospect for a throw away reliever. -
Question on homerun balls at the Cubs-Sox series
Gene Honda Civic replied to BigNDfan80's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I really think that the USCF staff should escort anyone who throws a ball on the field to thier car immediately. Hawk & DJ should should show them being escorted out. The balls back on the field thing would end very quickly after that. -
Pasttime you're not allowed to go to anymore games. Over the past few years I've seen a Surprising # of bulls victories in person, including 2 over the Lakers.

It's been linked to fark (the forums at least) multiple times. That is a local colloquialism around those parts. I'm sure that's where it came from.
-
There are less 1/2 price mondays than last year. And we had 1.2 price Tuesdays last season also, so it's a fair comparison of the two seasons.
-
That's bad, but over the same period he did this. He's inheritted 5 runners in June -- They've all died on the basepaths. I guarentee nobody in that bullpen has a problem with Neal Cotts.

Not to burst anyones bubble here, as we all seem to be having a lot of fun with it, but the site is a farce. There is no guy. Sure there's a picture of him, but it was created by some farker who thought it would be an astute satire of other "countdown sites". And it works, maybe a little too well. That's why the bio is so over the top.

Just wanted to note I saw Anahiem lay down a Suicide with nobody out, runners on the corners, while up 4 runs early in the game last night. It was of sucessful of course. Mike Scioscia is awsome

I'm pretty sure they already signed him to an extension too... They are thinking long term... They can't win this year, but they want to have a good nucleus in place for the following years. They don't want to allienate fan base in the interim by making wholesale cuts. -

They gave up a Minor leager with a career 3.58ERA prior to this season... Seems like a decent prospect. About the right price. -
Here's the answer, and you're not going to like it. The Cubs have a better shot at making the playoffs. The Cubs and Sox have about an equal shot of winning thier respective divisions, but the Cubs have a chance to win the wild card if they fall short of that goal. The Sox have no shot at the wild card with the likes of Boston, NY, Oak, and ANA winning at furious paces.

This thread is no doubt in response to the 2-run HR he gave up last night. But it seems to forget Neal saving Esteban's ass in the 5th with one out and runners on 2nd &3rd. Who else do you bring in in the 5th of a close game w/RISP? It's too early to use Damaso. Damaso and Neal have been the best relivers the sox have with inheritted runners. He's still holding hitters to a paltry .225 avg while pitching out of the pen. I'll live with Neal's 2-run shots. I'd prefer he learn to make them solo shots. It's a learning process, and in a perfect world he would be learning it at AAA. But right now he's the best option we've got.

That only slightly skews the greater pitcure. The rest of attendance is up, even if zero people showed up for those yankee games. Plus I could counter and say that we've had to play tampa, and that has hurt the attendance. There's still 6 dates left (Boston, Cubs)where theres already 35,000+ tickets sold. Minnesota comes to town for six dates(one weekend series). There's bad news on the scheduling horizon thuogh too. We have yet to play Detroit, so a lot of our home games in the second have will be the Tiggers.

There was a crowd of 27,922 at the Cell last night, and get this, That was the smallest crowd of the last 4 games at Comiskey. 712,331 people have made the trip to the south side in the first 32 games. Over the same 32 games last season, the sox drew 555,935. 156,396 more fans have watched the sox play already this year. That's almost 5,000 more per game. 28% more than last season. We did not reach 712,000 until the 40th game last season (the Cubs series). Over the last 41 games last seaon about 1.2MIL(500,000 more than in the first half) went through the turnstiles at Comiskey. If we draw simillarly over the last 40(philly probably wont be made up) we will easily eclipse the 2MIL mark. I figure we are likely to approach 2.3MIL in paid attendance. I'm not the only person who can see the numbers. JR knows what they are. He's already told KW that he has a bigger budget to play with. I expect KW to really make some noise. I can't really imagine him getting outbid for a player when there is this amount of support from the fans.

You're going to have to settle for June 1st. It was easier, and it was just about 2 weeks after Ward was fired. Konerko's numbers look terrible on there. He was 4 for 41 last june. :puke Small note: These numbers are not 100% accurate. In order to properly calculate OBP, you need HBP #'s. When I expanded the stats for Brando, I wasn't able to include HBP's, as there are no HBP stats readily available by month, or by game. I would have had to look through the box scores for them, and even I'm not that big of a nerd.
-
That would take some effort, But I could probably get it done. When did walker take over? -- I'll probably pick a date a couple weeks after that.

Don't sit in Sec 151. There's plety of good seat available. Sit in the outfield you're always facing the action.

I put together some numbers for guys on the team since last years ASB. --------------------------------------- *Aaron Rowand's numbers are since June 10th, 2003. This was when he came back off the DL last season. His numbers reflect his play when healthy. -------------------------------------- Edit: I pulled a TLAK, and just took a screen capture of the stats.
