I was going to start a thread if someone else didn't... I was beating on this guy pretty hard last week -- I never advocated trading him, but I thought that he could use some bench time when Jose got back -- I still think he needs to shorten his swing... But I'll gladly eat crow, and run him out there every day if he continues to hit like he has the past 2 days.\ /he has raised his average .60 points in the last 2 days.

April 28th Game Thread 1:05 first pitch
Gene Honda Civic replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That's the way MLB keeps the stats, so that's good enough for me -- Winning in the last AB and 1-Run victories go hand in hand. -
April 28th Game Thread 1:05 first pitch
Gene Honda Civic replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That point was not lost on me -- I bumped the "bullpen sucks" thread as quickly as I could find it -- ----------- That's the 5th win in the last AB this season, and the Sox are 7-1 in 1-run games. -
All of them have better offensive lines-- and those numbers are manipulated The point is we aren't comparing those backs -- we are comparing TJ and AT How does TJ compare to those backs? -- Less favorably than does the train. Also how many of those backs have shown the GREAT break-away ability of TJ? -- 3 20+ yard rushes a season is really hard to match
-
Did they at least feed you when they locked you down there, steve?
-
Yep Bullpen sucks.
-
You cited stats in your last response -- yet those weren't manipulated Last year was the worst offensive line that I can ever remeber the bears having -- yet thomas still rushed for a 4.0 YPC average, and broke 7 runs for 20+ yards -- that more than in TJ's career -- And TJ definitly had a better O-line that the Train last year -- Also -- Who the f*** was hired as the O-line coach? -- the one from Arizona. --------------------------------------- What was the purpose of bringing CP and AG into the argument? -- No AT doesn't compare with either of those backs, but I could just argue that Denver and GB just have better O-lines(which they did), and that stat's can be misleading and manipulated. You seem to like to do that when you're out of anything to back up your own argument.

Anthony Thomas -- 3 fumbles in 791 touches --- Puts the ball on the turf once per season, or 1 every 250+ touches Thomas Jones -- 8 fumbles in 596 touches --- give the ball to the other team once every 75 touches --------------------- At least TJ can break the big run -- TJ -- breaks a 20+ yard run 1 in every 83 carries AT -- breaks a 20+ yard run 1 in every 40 carries (since I'm sure that you'll argue that it was due to the good offensive line in 2001, I'll drop all of the 20+ yd. carries from that year, but still keep the attempts) That would come out to 1 in every 73.6 carries -- Still a better ratio that TJ

time to start giving williams some credit?
Gene Honda Civic replied to soxfan420's topic in Pale Hose Talk
First of all -- We still paid Durham -- Second, We sent him to a Oakland, who's been in the playoffs every year since 2000. -
6HR's? no -- but with anything but that little league defense we've played today behind him, only one would have crossed the plate.
-
Spitz is an idiot -- Where was he in 72 when 11 israeli's were taken hostage -- New York f***in' City -- That' right he was done with the olympics at that point and was watching it all go down on TV -- The famous Sports Illustrated cover of him with 7 gold around his neck was taken a day before he won the seventh -- one was a teammates.

Soxheads start the game thread for tomorrow
Gene Honda Civic replied to WSoxShuf's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Shuf, You're not allowed to post at all anymore -- They put some of that Royal blue in the water out there, and I think you've been infected -
how long will rowand last at center fielder
Gene Honda Civic replied to GoodAsGould's topic in Pale Hose Talk
i wouldn't have a problem if Willis was out second baseman either -- He's batting over .500 -- plus we could put him on the bump every five days -
time to start giving williams some credit?
Gene Honda Civic replied to soxfan420's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah let's give him lot's of credit for getting adkins -- all he had to do to get him was give up an allstar second baseman -- plus pay part of the Ray durhams salary -- It's a good thing we had someone waiting in the wings to fill that hole at second/leadoff -- We've had some real production out of the 2B/leadoff spot ever since -
Not even close -- the longest winning streak we had last season was 8 --
-
Shattered bat -- only Glen Allen Hill hits the ball with autority while breaking a bat like that.
-
Well that was 4 hours of my life I'll never get back.
-
I've got a feelin -- JG's gonna have a great outing -- No longballs -- 8IP
-
Caught the replay of Sunday's game yesterday -- Specifically in the last AB -- Uribe in his stance/swing-type reminds me a lot of Albert Belle --- I'm not comparing thier offensive prowess -- but the way he swings the bat, he looks more like a Baby Belle than a Baby berroa to me.

What has pleased/disappointed you thus far
Gene Honda Civic replied to 1549's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Rowand's avg. is 20 points below his career average -- three games ago it was 10 points above -- It's too early to judge -- You can rightfully be disappointed with Aaron in RBI situations. -- Batting .100 with runners on base, and .083 with RISP -- Still it's early, but that shows me he is pressing -- Especially when he's batting .370 when the basepaths are clear -------------------------- Carlos lee is in the same boat as Aaron -- his average is not that far off his career average, but he is woeful w/ runners on. -- .161 w/runners on, .167 w/RISP -
