Many teams would pick up Leury in a second. Utility players that can play several positions adequately, and are switch hitters as well, are always in demand. Let’s keep this guy.

It was more of a hard hit line drive than a fly ball. I think he misjudged how hard it was hit and it got by him. Should have made the play but it was not a give me.

It is a factor. McCann would have been a much better fit. But also what is hurting Kimbrel are the walks. You can’t afford walks in late relief close games, particularly the dreaded lead off walk.

At least Hernández was much cheaper than Kimbrel.

I fault the Kimbrel trade. But it is not one of our worse deals. Not even close to Tatis Jr and Semien.

Right on. It would have been the end of the Goodwin era, and the beginning of Murderous Row. Also a position player contributing every game rather than a reliever coming in every two or three games.

What we needed was a good defensive outfielder with pop, not another reliever.

“Tony proof” with Kimbrel still includes Ruiz, Burr and Wright in high leverage situation. He needs to manage this bullpen better.

Agree. Madrigal complemented our team well as a contact .300 hitter with minimal strikeouts.

It was a terrible trade giving up two young stars including a first rounder for a 32 yr old guy that we did not need. We already had a Hendriks. Hahn screwed up big time.

Wow,! Leury has become a slugger this weekend. We tried to give the game away with Kimbrel and awful hitting, but Leury would not have any of that. Glad we did not have to see Wright pitch after all.
