  1. Offering the QO might also lead to an agreement on a longer deal. Rodon knows that rejecting the QO hurts his value on the open market. The Sox would like to reduce that big number for 2022. Maybe they end up at something like 2 years/$30m guaranteed with a 3rd year option.
  2. Make your offseason predictions here: 1) When will the 2022 season start: As scheduled (March 31), 1-30 days late, 31-60 days late, 61-90 days late, > 90 days late, not at all Will the following players be in the Sox organization on opening day 2022 (whenever that is) Yes or No 2) Garrett Crochet 3) Dallas Keuchel 4) Craig Kimbrel 5) Carlos Rodon 6) Ryan Tepera 7) Jake Burger 8 ) Cesar Hernandez 9) Gavin Sheets 10) Leury Garcia 11) Eloy Jimenez 12) Andrew Vaughn 13) Yan Gomes 14) Eduardo Escobar 15) Marcus Semien 16) Kris Bryant 17) Nick Castellanos 18) Joc Pederson 19) Other (specify)
  3. There are two aspects of managing - managing the people and managing the game. Both RR and TLR were/are good at managing people. They create an environment where players want to give 100% and succeed. Both RR and TLR are bad at managing the game. Ignoring data when making lineup, pitching and defensive positioning decisions. Liking a manager and wanting to play for him may cause players to dismiss a manager's shortcomings in this area.
  4. I'm not advocating bringing Ozzie back, but his teams were known for doing the little things right. This team needs someone to instill that in them.
  5. Should Rodon get a QO? Yes Should ron get a QO? Absolutely not
  6. The Bears may have well lost anyway, but it's really disgusting to see the Packers continually get 3-4 huge breaks from the refs every single game. Clear offsides not called, led to an interception in the end zone when it should have been 3rd and 5 and at worst a 45-50 yard FG attempt. Clear grabbing of the face mask by Aaron Rodgers not called, plus an unsportsmanlike penalty called on Bears, instead of 3rd and long Packers get 15 yards and first down and eventually score TD. Ticky-tack holding call on Bears while the Packers don't get flagged for holding once the entire game. Bears overcame it and scored TD but took an extra minute off the clock.
  7. Two blatant holds on that TD scramble. Refs are a fucking joke.
  8. By the way, why was the play where Aaron Rodgers grabbed the guy's facemask not reviewable? That's not really a judgment call.
  9. Bears have to score 2 touchdowns before one of them will count.
  10. That's some of the worst tackling I've ever seen on that drive.
  11. If it's a live ball personal foul the penalties offset. If it's a dead ball personal foul both penalties get assessed and it's an automatic first down.
  12. Announcer trying to say that shoving the DB in the back isn't PI.
  13. That's why I could never be a coach because I'm having someone take Rodgers' knees out on the next play.
  14. I'll be graduating with a statistics degree in December 2023. Maybe I can help them out.
  15. It's not just that, it's that Sheets is lefty and those other two are not. I maintain that a lineup with Eloy, Vaughn and Abreu all in it is not going to succeed.
  16. Maybe @ptatc can weigh in, but I'd think there is a difference between his arm just got fatigued due to the high workload or his arm actually suffered damage at the end of the season. If it's the former, an offseason training program ought to help him do more next year. Only needs a 15% increase over 2021 to reach 150 innings in 2022. You absolutely give the QO if you think he can give you that next year.
  17. Better off going to a NY6 game and not having to play Georgia. Nobody is beating Georgia this year.
  18. Of course Keuchel is better at holding runners. Look at how much practice he got.
  19. Sheets had 1/3 of the team's extra base hits in the postseason despite only playing in 3 of the games. He's the one guy who legitimately came up big in the big moments and Soxtalk wants to send his ass back to AAA so we can shove Eloy and Vaughn into the same lineup.
  20. Sheets can't be a bench guy at his age. If he's not starting 5+ times a week, then he needs to be playing every day in AAA. However, stashing a lefty at AAA so you can shoehorn three high swing and miss, defensively deficient righties into the lineup seems misguided. I let teams know either Eloy or Vaughn is available, and see which one fetches the best price.
  21. Bears are +200 on the money line vs the Packers tomorrow. That means that if you bet $100 on the Bears, you will lose $100.
