  1. Yes, that's true, but that doesn't excuse the pathetic offensive output.
  2. He's not even hitting anymore so there's really no reason to have him in CF over Hamilton or Engel.
  3. If I had that outfield behind me I'd be afraid to throw strikes too.
  4. Cease didn't write Goodwin's name into the lineup in CF.
  5. Goodwin is in a huge slump and Engel is hitting righties well (albeit a very small sample size) so really just go with Engel in CF.
  6. I think he was excluding Kelly and just didn't word it well.
  7. So I looked up Hosmer to see if maybe the Sox could justify taking Hosmer if the prospect who came with him was enough to help get Escobar and/or a reliever. The answer is no. He's actually been worse vs RHP than vs LHP this year, and his road OPS is only 20 points higher than home OPS. I just couldn't find a way to get him enough playing time to take him even if the Padres paid half his remaining salary.
  8. I found this article: https://southsideshowdown.com/2021/07/21/chicago-white-sox-yermin-mercedes-might-considering-retirement/ which included this line: That would make him out of options after this season.
  9. What? We can't go into the postseason with Leury Garcia at 2B.
  10. That's possible, however, what I'd like to see is to be able to throw in Burr, Ruiz or Burdi as part of a trade. All three have had multiple shots with the Sox and not been able to come through. No reason to keep all three on the 40. I think Lamb comes back an pushes Sheets back to AAA, and I think Hamilton gets a mystery injury right around the time Robert is back.
  11. No, they're in a studio at the NBC tower in the Loop, same place they've been for every away game this year. They're announcing based solely on the same feed you and I are seeing.
  12. "I believe he was safe, we didn't see a call, but he's standing on 2nd." This bullshit needs to stop. If NBCS doesn't start sending these guys to away games, I'm going to start turning the TV off and listening on the radio. Also, way to go Vaughn!!
  13. Anybody else surprised that they didn't fuck up that rundown?
  14. Time to stop staring at the hypothetical 2025 depth chart on the whiteboard in the office and give Arizona somebody that will get the deal done.
  15. We can, but the front office is trying to bargain down the price of Escobar because they don't want to give up a guy or two that have small but nonzero chances of contributing to a championship in 2025.
  16. Hamilton's more likely to get a single than hit a deep fly ball, so I wouldn't risk it.
  17. Not saying Keuchel has been great but this team should be able to win with him giving up 2 runs in 4 innings. It's about time for the guys with the bats to do their part. Lynn had to drive in the runs himself last night or else the Sox have lost 4 in a row without scoring more than 2 runs in any of the 4.
  18. Eloy is not some kind of magic bullet that instantly makes everything better. TA, Jose, and Yoan still need to get their shit together.
  19. There has to be a trade for a 2B. You absolutely can't go into the postseason with Garcia/Mendick as your 2B combo. If it isn't Escobar, Semien or Story, I think Baez ends up being the emergency plan. There will also be at least one reliever.
  20. Could have done that, or if you don't like losing Leury's positional flexibility then Hamilton for Goodwin in the 6th spot which also improves your defense.
  21. Sox are obviously trading Madrigal for Kelenic after which there will be a 40 page thread about how great Madrigal is doing in Seattle.
  22. Lynn is not going to bat against any more good teams on the road though.
  23. The numbers are lagging but Vaughn is consistently making the best swings and best contact. Good to see one get into the gap.
  24. Sox have 5 runs this series, driven in by Vaughn, Collins, Zavala and Lynn (2).
