  1. Giolito and Cease both seem to be getting very few swings at pitches outside the zone this year.
  2. Big inning for Lucas. 3-4-5 due up. Get through that and then the 5th should be easy.
  3. For Charlotte, Eloy with a single and Yermin with a homer.
  4. My insider source (milb.com) says that Eloy is currently in Durham and batting 3rd for Charlotte tonight.
  5. I guess so. When my mom dropped off the dog she mentioned that we were headed to Milwaukee to see the Sox. The dogsitter told her that the other two dogs she had for the weekend belonged to Kopech. I wasn't there this time, and St. John seems kinda far out to be an area a player would be, but last time we used this sitter I'm the one that dropped the dog off and this is a 70ish year old woman who isn't likely to make something like that up.
  6. Texas and Oklahoma get one game per year certain to get national attention when they play each other. You occasionally get Baylor or Iowa State having a great season, but those names just don't draw the TV ratings when they play Texas or Oklahoma. The SEC brings several huge ratings games per year, depending on how they structure the conference.
  7. My mom just texted me. She just dropped our dog off at our dogsitter since we're heading to Milwaukee tomorrow. The dogsitter has another dog from someone who's going to be in Milwaukee this weekend, but his seat is in the bullpen and he's wearing #34.
  8. I'd love to know too. We have a pre-paid preferred pass.
  9. Lamb is a FA at the end of the season. Nobody is taking him in a trade.
  10. If they don't already have a cell phone sponsorship deal with Samsung then they're doing it wrong.
  11. Home field advantage important regardless of matchups. Sox are much better at home compared to on the road.
  12. This is why the Sox need to be aggressive at the deadline and improve the team early enough to finish with the best record in the AL, to force the Astros and Rays to face each other in the ALDS, not just wait until the deadline because of the 8 1/2 game lead over Cleveland.
  13. Lamb returns -> Sheets to AAA or Sheets stays and Lamb DFA Eloy returns -> Burger to AAA Marshall returns -> Lopez to AAA 2B acquired -> Mendick to AAA RP acquired -> Ruiz to AAA Grandal returns -> Zavala to AAA Robert returns -> Hamilton to IL
  14. They couldn't have made this deal 3 days ago??
  15. We're talking about players in the minors getting released but Yermin is on the 40-man roster. One of only a few people who can be called up without adding someone to that 40 man roster, and someone who has one option year left after this year. I can't think of any instances of such a guy asking for and getting released. Billy Hamilton was originally signed to a minor league contract and if the rash of injuries hadn't led to his call-up and he was still at AAA in May, he is the kind of player who likely would have been granted a release if he'd asked for it. Also, it's not like the Sox are denying Yermin some kind of opportunity. If someone wanted him, a trade would have been made.
  16. I think somehow, someone, most likely Hamilton, ends up on the IL as the calendar turns to September so the Sox can have 14 position players on the playoff roster without having to carry 14 though the entire month of September. If that happens, I think the playoff roster is: C - Grandal, Collins IF - Abreu, Garcia, Anderson, Moncada, Mendick/2B trade OF/DH - Jimenez, Vaughn, Robert, Engel, Goodwin, Hamilton, Sheets SP - Lynn, Rodon, Giolito, Cease/Keuchel RP - Keuchel/Cease, Hendriks, Bummer, Crochet, Marshall, Kopech, Burr/RP trade, Heuer/RP trade
  17. I can't imagine the Sox would ask for much in return if another team wanted him, so the conclusion is that no other team wants him--yet. He needs to go back to Charlotte, keep catching regularly and mashing the ball for the rest of the season and then maybe he can be part of a trade in the off-season.
  18. First of all I really hope Yermin is OK physically and mentally and hope that after some time he comes back, because I think he has a shot to make it back, even if not with the Sox. Secondly, from an administrative standpoint, does he have to file paperwork or something? He's on the 40 man roster and the Sox have guys ready to come back from the 60 day IL and now they wouldn't have to DFA someone else.
  19. Saw the thread topic and thought this was something from December that got bumped. Unreal.
  20. Seems to be a byproduct of all the NIL stuff. Oklahoma state law requires OU and OSU to be in the same conference though, so we'll see if that has an impact.
  21. Keuchel and Cease keep one-upping each other in the race to be the one left out of the playoff rotation.
