  1. https://www.counterhate.com/disinformationdozen What this is essentially saying: while your Facebook feed might have friends sharing false vaccine information from dozens, perhaps hundreds, of people, just 12 people are generating all the false information that are getting shared, and then shared, and then shared, etc. It's outrageous that social media platforms aren't willing to voluntarily deplatform these people, and even if they don't, I think the government is within its rights to force their hands. The old first amendment adage is, "you can't yell 'fire' in a crowded theater". Well, the crowded theater is on fire and these 12 people are yelling "There's no fire" so as to drown out the fire alarms.
  2. If Engel stays healthy the rest of the season and continues to produce even close to what he has so far, he's 100% a starting OF because of his defense.
  3. Doesn't seem to be helping a whole lot, unless they just started doing it this weekend.
  4. The central won half of AL pennants from 2005-16.
  5. I'd offer two, maybe a front-loaded or incentive laced three, but no way I'd offer 4+ and I think there's at least one desperate team that will.
  6. If that's true, then why isn't it done?
  7. Nobody is taking Adolfo as the main piece in a deal, but Arizona is far enough from contending that they might take a flyer on him as the second piece.
  8. If the Sox were out of contention, and didn't get a decent prospect in return for a fan favorite with an expiring contract just because he's a fan favorite, I'd be pissed.
  9. I have Marshal as arb3, Giolito, Engel and Fry as arb2. Nobody would be arb1
  10. This year jumped out at me, so I went back and looked at the final standings. Sox finished 90-72 (+18), so they were -9 from July 6 to the end of the season. If they had just been .500, they would have finished with 94 or 95 wins, which still would have either been one short of or tied with Detroit for the Wild Card. The AL Central had 3 teams with 90+ wins. No other division had more than one, and the entire National League only had one 90+ win team.
  11. Realistically, the Sox aren't going to be willing to commit to Rodon for more than 2-3 years guaranteed due to his injury history, and I think there will be a pitching-desperate team that's willing to go 4, and maybe even 5. The only way Rodon stays is if (1) he's willing to turn down some guaranteed money to stay and (2) the Sox come up with a very creative contract containing vesting options or something like that.
  12. I can't believe they took time out of showing Yankees games to mention that.
  13. With a lefty on the mound for Houston, I'd expect the lineup to look something like this: TA 6, Moncada 5, Abreu 3, Vaughn 7, Engel 8, Burger DH, Hamilton 9, Mendick 4, Zavala 2
  14. Why not? Cards fans are generally pretty baseball savvy, and I think they'd appreciate Yadi getting a chance at one more ring before he retires. He can always re-sign after the season and then retire as a Cardinal. Plus, the next worst thing for Cubs fans after the Cards winning the WS would be the Sox winning the WS, so the Cards should want to help out.
  15. Neither Sheets nor Burger are getting traded unless the return is huge. There is nothing wrong with having quality guys at AAA in case there are injuries next year like we had this year. Plus, Abreu is gone after next season so that opens a spot for one of them.
  16. Burger will be a very nice insurance policy stashed away at AAA once Eloy is back. Sheets has a fair chance at sticking and sending Lamb packing.
  17. Is it bad that I feel better with Goodwin up than Abreu?
  18. Someone started the thread about TA adding power and he homered, so I figured I'd give this a try.
  19. If there's any consolation, that would have been a DP by Sheets anyway.
  20. Eloy struck out swinging first time up.
  21. The changes from yesterday are Engel from CF to bench, Goodwin from RF to CF, Sheets from DH to RF, and Burger from bench to DH, so it's not about platoon splits since the lineup just swapped Burger for Engel and on top of that made the outfield defense a lot worse.
  22. Just spend $38M on Lynn, so no money left to have announcers travel.
  23. Engel still not playing on consecutive days.
