  1. I fully agree with what you say as far as the regular season goes, but I thought this team was terrible in the series against the Astros, failing to do the basics right even though they were near full strength again. I don't know if the pressure got to them but the whole team seemed to unravel, especially in that 4th game
  2. My biggest concern is not necessarily the players but the manager and coaches. All season the record against >.500 teams has been poor and once again when the pressure is applied post season the basics are badly missing. Watching some of the fielding this series has been embarrassing, seeing a man steal 2nd & 3rd as easily as that in a postseason game is just unbelievable. My point is that you can assemble a team of talented players but if they are coached and managed badly they will under-perform. Why do so many players traded for by the Sox put up some of their worst numbers when they arrive? The young players and talent we have are potentially being wasted and picking up bad habits that will stall their development under the present regime. People talk of trading Eloy or Moncada but these are players of massive potential who really have stalled or regressed under the manager and coaches (I just know that if traded they would start to show that potential elsewhere). TLR was brought in for his postseason experience and if anything this season's postseason performance was worse than last. Unless the manager and coaches are changed we will waste another season next year with key players getting older, young players stalling in development and the window getting smaller.
  3. I don't think they were banking on him playing regularly this season either but Eloy and Robert then got injured. I think that as a platoon player Engel is more than adequate.
  4. Ashamed to say that at 5-1 I gave up watching and went to bed (I'm in the UK so it was very at late night!). Woke up this morning to find out I had missed an amazing comeback. Just watched the highlights and the atmosphere looked amazing. Thank goodness Game 4 is on earlier so that I can watch it all without having to stay up through the night!
  5. Why thank you my good man. ?
  6. Let's face it we can vent our frustration with having TLR in charge as much as we want (just like when we found out about his 2nd DUI) but Jerry doesn't give a f@ck what we think, so TLR stays and potentially another year of this team's 'window' is wasted.
  7. So far TLR has been amazingly underwhelming this post season, considering that was what he was brought in for, his 'experience' has not helped the Sox improve on last year in the post season.
  8. Wow, good to see some fellow Liverpool fans around here. Yes the whole Super League business was retched, it comes from having too many owners in football who are not really football people, and see teams as a 'franchise'.
  9. He would probably pitch a perfect game!
  10. I know how you feel. As a big football (soccer) fan here in the UK I can remember a time when I actually wanted my team to lose because it meant that the manager we had who was hopeless was a game nearer the sack. It felt dirty hoping to lose but in the long run it worked as a couple of managers later we were back on top of the League and winning trophies.
  11. I always hate the argument that as a fan you can stop buying his product (no offense meant to you) but as a fan of a team you can't just switch off your support, no matter how bad the team is or the owner is a fan can't just turn off the passion that makes them support that team.
  12. Haha, there are many people in the UK who dismiss baseball as rounders but I was hooked after seeing the White Sox live when I was 12 and we went on a family holiday to America, starting in Chicago.
  13. I live just South of London, I know that is miles from Liverpool but I started supporting them when I was 5! The disappointments just made it all the better when we finally won the league after a 30 year wait in 2020.
  14. As a Brit on here I know that in football (soccer) fans of unsuccessful teams always blame the manager and/or the owners as well, but there have been too many examples of 'careful what you wish for' when it comes to new owners. As a Liverpool fan we were bought by two Americans in Hicks and Gillette who far from moving Liverpool onwards and upwards nearly bankrupted the club. It was only when FSG (I know not popular with White Sox fans as rival owners) took over that things began to improve and a winning team returned. Has the same happened in baseball or other US sports? I suppose I am just saying that a change of owner isn't always a magic bullet that brings a change in fortune.
  15. But actually those 6 players have barely been on the field together this season due to injuries. Is as much of the problem the batting order as opposed to the individual players? Abreu followed by Grandal in the order is not ideal. And does TLR move Robert around too much? He is the crown jewel in this team, surely you find the best spot for him and fit the others around him.
  16. So he has rebuilt well but then you say the rest of his tenure has been bad, are you talking about before the rebuild?
  17. Hahn has provided most of the parts necessary for a successful team during the rebuild, he has not managed them, so sacking him at this point would be harsh in my opinion. TLR was brought in (by Jerry) to win postseason games, so far he has shown no more ability to do that than Ricky R.

Oh I agree, it seemed strange and unnecessary at the time and looked worse as the season went on and last night well that just took the biscuit!
  19. What do people think will it be: A) a glorious 3-2 comeback win for the Sox B) 3-2 Astros after the Sox win both their home games. C) 3-1 Astros Or D) a 3-0 sweep?

Hindsight is a beautiful country! But yes it does look dumber now than it did at the time!
  21. Well at least it was nice spending the season talking about the post season, just a pity that it is unlikely to go beyond 3 games in 4 days. ?
  22. Nah, just lulling them into a false sense of security!
  23. And to think I got my hopes up in the top of the innings. I should have known better.
  24. That's what I like, never satisfied! ?
  25. They are just waiting for us to load the bases first to really get us excited then hit a DP.
