Jake Burger is actually pretty interesting
He has hurt himself 3 times while fielding in outfield, twice in 2020 and the long term one in 2021. So he hardly injures himself every game. Yes he is clumsy but he is far from the injury prone goof that people make him out to be.

Jake Burger is actually pretty interesting
Is Eloy really a 'defensive liability'? He may not be a great left fielder, or ever likely to be, but he has only made 2 errors in the last 2 (albeit brief) seasons, so far from a liability. And his fielding percentage for the last 3 seasons of .985 is again not spectacular but is actually league average for left fielders in that same period. Granted his injury last season was stupid for Spring Training but to describe him as a danger to himself and others is an exaggeration.

2022 Bold Predictions Thread
Come on Eloy not getting hurt! Next you will be saying Adam Engel goes a season without appearing on the DL ?

Early days but....
Don't worry I am not Rick, and I would probably do an even worse job than him if my efforts on OOTP are anything to go by! ?

Early days but....
I know it is very early in Spring Training but have any of the call ups impressed you enough to think that they will play a part in 2022?
- Rodon to SF, 2 years, $44 million (opt out after year 1)

Offseason Part 2 - Lets the Rumors & Action Begin
I would just like to say how refreshing it is to see everyone back to arguing about on field matters again!

The MLB lockout is lifted!
As an outsider watching all of this, what really surprises me if that the two sides are not negotiating every minute of every day to solve this stand off. There seems to be no real urgency from either side, and MLB seems unconcerned about cancelling 2 weeks of the season and the players seem equally unconcerned.

The MLB lockout is lifted!
Thanks for the info, does that mean that say Charlotte Knights don't make money for themselves and are all part of the overall White Sox umbrella?

The MLB lockout is lifted!
As a UK Sox fan who has read this thread to try and educate myself more about this lockout, one thing that shocks me is how little most minor league players get paid. I know they are not MLB standard and many are young hopefuls but the games still get attendances who pay to go to the games and buy concessions etc. I know the aim is to make the MLB but for those who don't but have a good MiLB career they really should be paid better and should be able to afford accommodation that is not subsidized by the club.

HOF voting/discussion getting increasingly vitriolic/polarized
And politics has nothing to do with sporting achievement which is what the HoF should be about. There are plenty of unpleasant characters who were great players in the HoF.

Burger working out at 2B
Well it can't get much worse they were 26th ranked last season!

The MLB lockout is lifted!
Back to back play off births that lasted one series then elimination. That is hardly what the rebuild was aiming at, we were told they were aiming at multiple World Series births not just showing up and embarrassing ourselves in the play offs.

Where could Kimbrel be traded, and for what?
Most of us on here would be happy if they took him and his wages even if we got nothing back in return!
-
Why Yoan is unlikely to go back to 2B
Yes but what will the Sox do?

Where could Kimbrel be traded, and for what?
A considered opinion ?
-
Where could Kimbrel be traded, and for what?
Nor me, but some on here think he will never be a good starting 2B, and you know that if he came back he would get criticism on here!
-
Where could Kimbrel be traded, and for what?
They could give back Madrigal and but that would cause too much argument here on Soxtalk so the trade could never be done!

The MLB lockout is lifted!
Even if Spring Training starts on time it will be a long off season!

The MLB lockout is lifted!
Thank you for such a thorough reply.

The MLB lockout is lifted!
Being from the UK where we are not used to this style of sporting lockout, who do you consider to be most at fault for this one? I have tried reading as much as possible but different articles blame different sides, or is it a case of they are both being stubborn and eventually will get things sorted?

MLB 2021-2 off season thread
Sorry I missed that, it still says (report) on the Official Sox MLB page.

MLB 2021-2 off season thread
90 pages in and the Sox have only signed Graveman (if reports are true), other than that not even a strong Sox related rumour. Can we make it another 90 pages before the Sox actually sign or trade for someone?
