I don't mind if they can contribute at MLB level, but if relying on rookies is the only tactic then it will eventually bite us, especially as the farm shop shelves are pretty empty!

He only had one collision yesterday, so surely he is improving! ?

Old Sock Drawer, ex Sox player discussion

That is a mighty big 'IF' and we had 3 of those 4 last season and still didn't get beyond round 1 of the playoffs. -
Old Sock Drawer, ex Sox player discussion

Our top two starters were hurt by the end of opening day so Rodon last until June would be an improvement! -
GAMETHREAD 4/9/22: Sox vs Tigers (Cease vs Mize) 12:10 pm CST

A bit of an understatement he currently has given up twice as many hits as outs. -
Giolito leaves with injury, being evaluated

The way our SPs are falling that will be the 1-3 of the rotation soon. -
Put Burger at 2B (or Yoan at 2B and Burger at 3B)

I know but it is so much fun to overreact to one bad loss. ? -
With the Opening Day that we feared would never happen now upon us what do we expect to see against Detroit? I predict Giolito will give 4 good innings before things get a bit scary when the bullpen takes over and we hang on to a nervy win!

I'm just waiting for the first comment that trading away Kimbrel was a mistake ?

Kopech/Cease two of five dark horse Cy Young candidates

I would be happy at the moment if they both stayed healthy and lasted the season. -
Lance Lynn has slight tendon tear, 4 weeks no throwing off mound
Chimpton replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Unfortunately until the scans it is hard to know, I am a football (soccer) fan here in the UK and have seen player walk off after a knee injury but then it turns out worse than expected and equally seen them stretchered off but be back in a few weeks. There are different levels of tear to the acl or mcl but even if it is 'only' an ongoing soreness problem it is not a good sign going in to the season and is a warning that relying on Lynn to last the full season would be reckless, another 1-3 SP is needed asap. -
Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Chimpton replied to CentralChamps21's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No it isn't it has just become culturally unacceptable. -
It was also a top 5 'on paper' last year but didn't make it that far, I would be happy with a team that performs better than it is predicted 'on paper' even is that team doesn't win it all.

OF Help at last!! White Sox acquire Haseley from Phils
Chimpton replied to KrankinSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Tough choice! But I think the latter. -
Nothing in my post was putting the 'FO on full blast' I was merely questioning whether ranking the WS as 4th best in the MLB was realistic when the rotation potentially looks weaker in 2022 with the loss of Rodon, and that the depth did not appear to be there. Bearing in mind that last season's pitching wasn't able to take us beyond the first round in the play offs.
-
Just read the article on MLB pages that has the White Sox down as the 4th best rotation in baseball this season, even with Keuchal as one of them, and Kopech moving into starting with limited innings. Is this a realistic assessment? And are we just one injury to Giolito or Lynn away from a big problem? Because there doesn't appear to be any real depth in starting pitching unless one of the AAA pitchers will surprise us all.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud

Either his age or he is on the sauce bottle again. -
Although Vaughan did injure himself fielding yesterday! ?
-
Sorry I was wrong in my original post it was 2019 that he was twice injured in collisions while fielding, 2020 it was while celebrating a win! But he did still start 122 games in 2019 and 55 of 60 in 2020, so it was only 2021 that he missed a large part due to injury. I'm not saying he is golden glove material but personally I think finding a RF is a bigger issue at the moment than having to find an alternative to Eloy in LF. I may of course be wrong, it wouldn't be the first or the last time!
-
He has hurt himself 3 times while fielding in outfield, twice in 2020 and the long term one in 2021. So he hardly injures himself every game. Yes he is clumsy but he is far from the injury prone goof that people make him out to be.
-
Is Eloy really a 'defensive liability'? He may not be a great left fielder, or ever likely to be, but he has only made 2 errors in the last 2 (albeit brief) seasons, so far from a liability. And his fielding percentage for the last 3 seasons of .985 is again not spectacular but is actually league average for left fielders in that same period. Granted his injury last season was stupid for Spring Training but to describe him as a danger to himself and others is an exaggeration.
-
Come on Eloy not getting hurt! Next you will be saying Adam Engel goes a season without appearing on the DL ?
-
Don't worry I am not Rick, and I would probably do an even worse job than him if my efforts on OOTP are anything to go by! ?
-
I know it is very early in Spring Training but have any of the call ups impressed you enough to think that they will play a part in 2022?
