9/19 ESPN Sunday Night Baseball- Tigers @ Sox

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 02:35 AM) You're right, September 19th is a great time to push your players even more against split-squad Tigers lineup. You sound like Chris Rongey, who excuses every Ozzie decision by saying he's trying to raise the confidence level of the player in question. You don't think John Danks could go seven innings tonight? With a 101 pitch count? It's on Danks. -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 02:34 AM) Ideally, if the losing streak continues someone will have to held accountable. There’s not a chance that actually happens though. Why? You going to fire KW for not improving the team at the break? -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 02:30 AM) Yep, when I see a starting pitcher struggling in the 7th inning, the manager should be pulling him sooner rather than later. Danks gave up 6 EARNED RUNS IN THE 7TH INNING! Think about that....that's inexcusable. Yeah but you marched in the thread like you were assessing Danks/Oz the whole game. Look, Danks' pitch count was fine. He has to learn how to frankly take the next step. Getting through seven tonight would have been a nice step against a crap team at home. I got no problem leaving him in especially with the Sox bullpen as bad as it is now. 101 pitches shouldn't have been a problem against a crap team like Detroit. Hopefully that implosion will somehow help Danks in the future. Cause he has to feel like crap for having a s*** ERA tonight after pitching well through six. He's GOT TO go more than six to be a great big league pitcher. -

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 02:27 AM) my god why is this team so bad Cause now the team is in the April/May mode of pretty much losing every time out, just as during the 25-5 it was winning every night out. Team Dysfunction is what I'd call it. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 02:13 AM) You must be proud of the team quitting on him. He said that if anyone on the team doesn't feel like playing hard down the stretch, they will no longer be with the organization. Well, Ozzie managed tonight's game like he would rather be anywhere else than at the park. Not often you see a starting pitcher allowed to give up 6 base runners in the 7th inning. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 02:20 AM) Tonight, I've watched when Quentin and Morel batted. Sadly, I had to watch Teahen cause he was batting in between those guys. I didn't see a single pitch Danks threw all night until the Laird AB in the 7th. So you admittedly watched almost none of the game and you are an expert on Oz's job in tonight's game? -

Watch Teahen come up and try to hit his home run. Watch Teahen strike out. Morel is up this inning, though. Gotta root for him to start next year. -

Don't blame me. I was posting in this thread when we were up 3-1. It's mysteriously become more crowded now that there's a reason to blame ol Oz. He can't help it that Danks imploded this inning. Nice job finishing, Mr. Danks. -

Sox should tape these Tigers at bats to learn how to hit baseballs on the meat of the bat. Putz was the savior on this board at one time this season. He's just another hack arm right now. Hopefully he'll be able to pitch the long haul for us next year. He's been pretty ordinary during the Sox second half foldo. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 02:17 AM) Right because we made no attempt to get Lance Berkman or Adam Dunn... Gotta get it done. Talk is cheap. They were danging Hudson and got another starter for him. That was ridiculously dumb. Just get it done and improve the team. That was the season right there. Sox stood pat. Team failed. -

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 02:16 AM) Ozzie is probably thinking the same thing that Leyland was thinking last night when he let Verlander throw 130 pitches or so..... "f*** it, it doesn't matter anymore" Yeah but Danks was at 101. The Sox fans who want a higher draft pick should be happy anyway. -

Or overachieving for him to build the record this horses*** team built. The Sox had a chance at the break. They had overcome the 9.5 game deficit. KW/Oz/Konerko made no attempt to improve by adding a big bat and reliever. It has nothing to do with quitting. Game.Set.Match. (the Konerko reference was to him also saying the team needed nothing to improve). -

Danks needs to learn how to pitch longer in games. Nice try. Ozzie is not a terrible manager. He's one of the best. -
Sort of unless you are female. Sigh is a message board thing that rubs me the wrong way. Shoot me for it.

Our team is laughably bad. They are dropping games now with the frequency of that winning streak earlier. Sox go on the field and they suck. It's been a given for a while now. -
My message board pet peeve is when people post "sigh." Nothing against you, I just think it's feminine.

Great play by Morel. I'm laughing at what Teahen would have done with that perfect bunt. -
QUOTE (Real @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 02:07 AM) I predicted a twins sweep in game 1's gamethread, this team is garbage It's 10 over .500; probably nine over after tonight. That's not garbage. If you want garbage, I'm sure the Sox will give it to you one of these seasons in the future.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 01:35 AM) Cool Mark Teahen! I am so glad Ozzie decided to flip Teahen and Morel in the lineup so that way Teahen could be the one to come up with RISP and ground out instead of Morel coming up and having a much higher chance of succeeding..... f*** it, what do I care, games don't matter anymore anyway..... QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 02:07 AM) Watching Teahen play, whether it be batting or fielding, is a very painful experience. 1.) Get used to it. Sox are paying him a lot of money so he'll probbly be starting next season. s***, who am I kidding. He WILL be starting for the Sox next season. The Linebrink thing proves Sox won't demote/and or dump anybody making huge money. 2.) Sox need to quit signing guys who happen to hit White Sox pitching. Teahen is ridiculously bad. Who cares if he hit our wildly inconsistent pitching well throughout the years? -

The announcers should spend the whole game blasting the Sox for this abomination of a season. Start the season horribly. Have one amazing amazing run. End the season horribly. This season just leaves a horrible taste. It's going to make for a s***ty offseason wondering if we're going to play the same kind of ball next year. s***ty vs. the Central and basically dysfunctional baseball. -
we ain't gonna go 7-7. we are cooked. more like 4-10.

You don't agree with me Ozzie made a lot of loot? Enough to live on this life and next?
