  1. Harsh nickname. He has had a great great season though the pickoff thing was really bad.
  2. We are only two back which is good. But we have shown no signs of being able to take advantage of anything. Detroit is getting b****slapped by Boston so we can't beat a good Seattle team but one game? We need to take advantage especially since Detroit mauled us four of five recently. I'll never give up, but ... I guess we'll be waiting on Jimmy to save the day like he did last year in the playoff game vs. Minnesota. I agree though it's stupid to say, 'Wait til next year.' That's dumb. We still have a chance now but this team is definitely a .500 enigma.
  3. There's no reason to be too angry. If a .500 team can win this division, we'll be there all season. If it can't, we won't. Maybe we can hang in there all the way, but I go back to Justin's article. Our team is a flirt like he said. Maybe next year we'll catch fire and be better than .500ish. We get great pitching and suddenly we can't hit a lick.
  4. Nobody on the bench needs to tell Dye anything. He's what, sixth in the league in homers? Albeit not a ton of them but he's still arguably one of our best hitters.
  5. Even Dye should realize he needs a day off or two. I wonder if Oz will adress it with him 1-1 or just pencil Rios in today and not speak to Dye about the ultimate plan for Rios.
  6. Great article. Great analysis on all the players who deserve to play. Has Oz or KW been quoted as saying Rios, CQ, Pods and Dye and Thome will all continue to play a lot? Was that written somewhere? Personally it's not fair but I think if Rios has to play everyday and for that money he probably has to play every day, then you have to take out the guy who he's better than on paper. And that's Pods. Problem is Pods has been amazing. I wouldn't think juggling the lineup every day will work in this day and age of me first ballplayers. I guess I'm in favor of juggling the lineup and seeing how it goes, but we don't have much wiggle room here. We have to win and win now. That said ... on paper ... if you have to make a decision it's a no brainer. Pods must sit for Rios. Rios makes WAY more money and on paper Rios is the better player.
  7. Will the guy benched for Rios complain tonight or take it like a man? CQ, Pods and Dye are pretty good major leaguers (Pods since his getting healthy and rejuvenated; Dye scuffling in last 80 at bats).
  8. Rongey or DJ, somebody on the radio last night was crediting Wise being on base for our rally. Something about Aardsma slidestepping and not getting the good velocity cause he was worried about Wise. I don't remember the whole scenario but Wise was getting some love.
  9. I'm trying to figure out what turned Dye into such an unpopular player on this board. I'm hoping it's just because of peoples dislike for me on this board and I'm a huge Dye supporter. Aside from that, I for the life of me can't believe the Dye hatred I've seen lately. It's unexplainable. Paulie last year and Dye this year. Wow.
  10. Justin wrote it in his article today on this site. The Sox have been a tease. Until they prove otherwise, they are mediocre. There's nothing there but mediocrity.
  11. Seattle is wishing it was in the AL Central. .500 here we come unless we start to man up.
  12. Didn't want to waste a new thread on this guy. Hope this report is wrong. Hineybirdi to the once-proud Tribune. Oh well, maybe his Oz/Kenny rants keep the team honest. He's really the only critical, albeit piece of s*** columnist in the city at least from what I can tell. I really dislike his columns, though.
  13. I never said Jose was "atrocious" just that 4-11 is a horrible record, which it is and it will be nice having him out of here next year. I don't think he's astrocious and I won't take the bait lest I get banned. See the warning which I've heeded in the other thread.
  14. Jose is 4-11. That is a horrible record. It will be wonderful next year with him pitching for somebody else. How's Javy doing these days?
  15. Are you Jay Hineybird? Jay's back. I hope Ozzie always remains Ozzie. He's great.
  16. Thank goodness we're in this division. Doesn't Seattle even have a better record than we do? Losing 2 of 3 to Cleveland is not good at home. Bummer.
  17. Atrocious to me means he is a complete and utter stiff who has no business being on the team. That clearly is not the case in my opinion.
  18. Boy that really hurts.
  19. Maybe, Thunderbolt, but we led by 3 runs in the ninth against a bad team. I woulda got it out of the way with Jenks plunking that second htter, even though he's a nobody. He got the first out then BAM. Now we've got to deal with it Sunday and Jose has sucked of late.
  20. I'm done with the thread. He's not atrocious; he's just not. I'm really enjoying my World Series DVD tonight as I sip a Bud. I especially love the part where Jermaine is hoisting his MVP trophy. Not bad for an an atrocious outfielder. Man he really sucks.
  21. If you guys want to mock me for standing up for Jermaine Dye, by all means do so. He is not "atrocious" or "horrendous" in the outfield. You act like every ball hit out there drops. Jermaine Dye is a f***ing stud. You disgree with this?? Wow. Excuse me while I pop in my World Series tape.
  22. Why is it a joke to you that I take exception to you calling Dye's defense "atrocious." It's just not.
  23. He's not a great outfielder, but he's not "horrendous" either. Some people would love it if we could switch players every month. Guys are easy to take for granted. How could anybody blast Dye? Ingrates.
  24. We win. Detroit loses. Me go to bed happy eventually tonight. We win in spite of the freshly squeezed strike zone. Umps piss me off.
  25. I don't care what his UZR is. He's a f***ing stud and not an "atrocious" defender. YOu probably want us to trade Dye for Rios. You probably didn't want Dye in right field during our WS season. Give me a break please with the word "atrocious." He may be average out there but he's not f***ing atrocious.
