  1. Pods truly is a f***ing stud. Isn't he also married to a perfect 10? What a cool story he is this year. f***ing stud.
  2. Hopefully he'll walk and steal second
  3. That's probably right as well as the blind spot theory. McCarver said the play was right in front of Mark and that was an unusual mistake for a lefty. Brain cramp on a hot day I guess.
  4. True, but I meant just flip it over to Paulie where he was standing.
  5. Why didn't Mark just flip it over to Paulie when he saw he was about to commit a balk? His vision certainly saw Pauley over in the vicinity.
  6. Bradley gets a chance to make the sports media fawn over him if he slugs a double here.
  7. I can't believe Houston beat Detroit. What a good deal that is. The Royals are a mess again. My god. Meche gets raked once more. Olivo with big baserunning gaffe tonight and they flop at Pitt. Some sorry baseball in Kansas City again this year with KC 10 below .500.
  8. I'm surprised Piniella held his temper and didn't punch him. I wonder how Oz would have handled Bradley. Lou said in the media he's looked the other way several times this season when Bradley has acted the same way and had enough. I like Lou; I like Oz. City has some good skippers.

Oz wasn't pleased with AJ's at bat today, though he doesn't seem as angry as the headline on this article: "White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen criticizes A.J. Pierzynski's at bat" From the Trib's excellent writer, Gonzalez: “Bad at-bat,” Guillen said about five hours after praising Pierzynski for his clutch hitting and catching all 13 innings of Thursday’s victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. “(Pierzynski came off) the bench. He might have been looking for a breaking ball, but the breaking ball wasn’t a strike, and it ended up the wrong way for us.” AJ's take: “I was looking for a pitch up, and he threw me a high curveball,” Pierzynski said. “He’s known for having a good breaking ball. I hit it hard and hit it right at the wrong guy. I hit it three feet to the left or three feet to the right, and we are shaking hands right now. “I hit it to him, and what can you do. Pinch-hitting is tough. Marshall has a good curveball and he threw it high. Look at the replay. It’s high, right down the middle. I hit it good. Sometimes stuff happens.” I agree. s*** happens. I was feeling good when AJ stepped to the plate. Just think how happy we'd be if he lined that pitch over the first baseman's head.
  10. I'd give anything for us to have Granderson. I love that guy.
  11. Corky ... another backup catcher that failed. Will our current backup be the backup we need?
  12. I guess. I had hoped for better, but w/out last year's CQ in the lineup, it's still pretty weak on most nights even with Pods doing as well as he has. There are enough flaws we do appear a bit below average team. I can't see us going on a sustained run to put us 5-10 games over .500 at any point this year, but I could be mistaken.

We also need another bat in the lineup capable of the numbers CQ put up last year. We really miss that obviously.
  14. True. We ain't going 13-3 in the next 16. It would have been nice to win game one. Now we gotta do it the hard way again if we hope to win this series.
  15. Yep, yep yep. Such is life of a five under .500 type team. As far as AJ's at bat, I felt good having the vet stroll up to the plate against the Cubs with the game on the line. I thought he'd loft a fly ball to at least tie it. I didn't think the vet would swing at the first pitch and hit into a DP. If Fields wouldn't have drawn the walk, people would have second guessed Oz for pinch hitting for Beckham. It's so easy to second guess the manager on any loss. I personally felt good with AJP at the plate even vs. a lefty.

As a fan, I felt pretty good when AJ strolled to the plate, even against a lefty. One pitch later I felt lousy. You can second guess all day and I'm sure people will. So point out the 10 bad moves Oz made. When you lose, there are all sorts of things to second guess.
  17. Tough tough loss. Sure wish AJP would have lofted a game tying sacrifice fly. You could see it coming and wham, first pitch, we are done for the inning. After the great series against the Dodgers, disappointing to drop game one again.
  18. I don't know why he ever moved from second. It's a great spot for him. He can still make the occasional remarkable play at second. He's too erratic to play ss and that was easily predictable. It seems stupid to play Beckham at third if ss is his spot and he's reliable there. For this year though, since Fields was a bust, I guess we need Beckham at 3B, Lexi at ss and Getz at 2B. It's better than Fields at third, Beckham at short and Lexi at 2B. Unless Fields is finally coming into his own after the two dinger game.
  19. I'm not a Carrasco fan, nor a Gobble fan. I am an Oz fan, though. If he thinks he's doing a good job, great. If Carrasco helps us win like he did today, I will tip my cap to him.
  20. • Nice win. Got to love Pods' contributions this year. • Game drew just over 20,000 fans. Economy or our home record? • Sox have won four of five and eight of 12. Heating up? • Aaron Poreda gets first ML victory. Sweet. Congrats to him. Should he take over for Clayton? What's up with Richard after those great first three or four starts? • Carrasco nice job. Oz's eruption in the Trib on Lexi's defense ... TRIB GAME STORY Make that everybody except manger Ozzie Guillen, who was in a foul mood because shortstop Alexei Ramirez made a pair of errors, one of which led to an unearned seventh-inning run that tied the game 5-5. “We played 13 innings because we were lousy in the field. Lousy and lazy in the field,” Guillen said. “I made a big mistake when I said in January he’s going to be a better shortstop than Ozzie Guillen. I never thought I was that bad. “We won and that’s good. I’m excited, but there are so many things I want to see I don’t see yet. And I need to see it. ... We have a better ballclub than what we show.” Oz on Carrasco ... “the best pitcher we have. He’s always picking up everybody’s garbage and he has been doing it for two years.”
  21. If you think Carrasco is as good as Linebrink, then IMO you are dead wrong. Carrasco is a total stiff, not in the realm of a Gobble, but a career journeyman at best; Linebrink has a track record of being something. If you think Carrasco was the right move over Linebrink, then bless you.
  22. Team has to start winning series, winning every series, at the Cell. Sox home performance has been of an also ran, not a contender. The team isn't even over .500. That's not a contender. If we are not .500 at the break, forget it.
  23. THat was a horrible trade. I picked him up as well, but my teams really suck.
  24. He does suck, but that shot into the gap today to score our fourth run was a thing of beauty. Nice rip into the deep gap. He got us an important extra run.
  25. Ozzie obviously is trying to develop a pattern in which Linebrink is THE set up guy in games like this. Like you said, it's either throw in Mr. High Paid reliever or put him on the DL. Hopefully he'll address the situation in going to Liney again today in the media reports on the game. There is a reason, folks, the media has to ask him to clarify it for us but it may be Oz had decided he's the guy to pitch the eighth in games like this.
