  1. Nice post Jackie. Good info. I like both Crede and Fields.
  2. I voted for Mark. Man, that's an impressive list. I hate to say this ... but Oz, can't you find a way to win and win big with those core players?
  3. Maybe this will help Masset be a surprise. I don't like him based on his productivity, but maybe he won't get lit up now that he's in shape. I can dream anyway.
  4. Thome as a Sox veteran will kick ass this year, be a real leader, and realize his time is running out and demand excellence from everybody and lead us to the playoffs.
  5. Good option Knight. I'd take that.
  6. I wonder if the trib or sun times has researched any other baseball players and how they do following back surgery. Man, all the batting practice these guys take and the hacks in games and the grounders crouching over, I can't imaging it not flaring this season. Ditto Thome. That's my only concern about Crede. I'd love him to be a Sox forever if he's healthy.
  7. I hope Sisco sucks in spring training so we don't have to endure his wildness again this season. Hope he proves me wrong, but he is a stiff.
  8. I used to mimic his unusual batting stance as a real little kid. He had good power numbers during the years 20 home runs to 25 was a good power year with the lower mound and all.
  9. Get a grip, please. Why can't people be tolerant? Like somebody said, some people prefer thinking about God more than violent rap, b****es and hos. For some reason we've gotten to the point people get pissed at the athletes that credit God. If they want to thank God by pointing to the sky, why get worked up about it? If the interviewer asked that, he should also ask those who love getting drunk every night if their late night escapades caused the team to lose or him to give up a home run. And yes I think it's OK to say Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays and yes if the person informed me he didn't celebrate Christmas I'd say then Happy Holiday to you as well. This new anti God world pisses me off.
  10. Great post about Fields holding a Bible study no different than another player having a Strip Club night out. It amazes me the fact people turn on those players who have an interest in God. IMO that's one of the problems main problems with society today. The subject of God in MANY people's minds, if not MOST, is so taboo. Yet talk shows, etc., can joke about strippers, drugs, sex, all they want. I happen to think God is good, yet I also can go to a strip club and get drunk (especially in Vegas) once in a while. I can't change anybody's minds, so I'll stop trying. Sorry if I'm a cancer cause I like God. Kudos to Fields!
  11. I'd like to play in a head to head league. I do a league at work every year but am not experienced. I usually do poorly. I would prefer being in a league where the league picks the players for me rather than a draft format. To summize. ... head to head matchup league. I am inexperienced and have a history of not doing well. not really interested in doing the draft, would rather the league pick my players then i make trades, etc. don't wanna be commish.
  12. Uribe for Crisp would be great. But I agree. Give up no more than Juan.
  13. A major problem? I disagree. I just wish people were as tolerant of guys like Fields and the Royals' Mike Sweeney who care about their faith, as much as big leaguers being tolerant of those who love to get drunk, cheat on their wives, etc. God is good; so is going out and getting hammered once in a while. People need to be tolerant of all types, even in locker rooms.
  14. I like Pods for obvious reasons. He helped bring us a title. Good luck to him. It appears like many players, he hit a certain age, however and is done. -- I don't know why I thought of this, but remember when Rock Raines suddenly couldn't steal a base any more?
  15. How do you know what makes the troops happy? You may not like them (the camos), but anything people here in their comfortable homes can do to honor the troops, who daily are sweating their asses off for us here is no empty gesture. Maybe you served in the armed services, maybe not. I for one applaud ANY gesture to honor those guys who are fighting this stupid ass war. I hope the Sox give all Chicagoans at war future season tickets for FREE at least for one season.
  16. Best of luck to him, but glad he's gone. Now get rid of MacDougal and Sisco please.
  17. One thing about Kansas basketball. Kansas fans are EVERYWHERE. May have the best road following of anywhere except maybe Ky.
  18. I hope Oz has no tolerance for bases on balls from his pen this year. I'd prefer he jump dump MacD, but if he makes the team I'd yank him after ONE walk. Is Myers out of baseball? I am assuming we dumped that stiff.
  19. Proves money doesn't matter. This guy is a huge health concern. But at least we have some new bullpen bodies. I wonder if he'll make it out of spring training health wise. Wouldn't that be something if the Sox have patched together a better bullpen?
  20. I like your optimism, too, mainly because of Swisher. Hopefully he's a good grinder, not an Erstad. As far as pressure ... I don't think big league players feel that much pressure. We've got a lot of veterans and still have some guys from the WS title team. I don't think pressure matters.
  21. This guy wasn't bad when he was healthy.
  22. The thought of Crede playing third again is appealing to me. He's a good player. But I wonder if like Thome and Mike Sweeney of the Royals his back woes are just starting. I can't imagine a guy whose had back surgery not have recurring problems considering all baseball players do is use their backs for seven months counting March.
  23. If he can't be back til after the AllStar break, forget it. Too much of the season will have happened by then.
  24. That was a funny sentence. I laughed at fatass for some reason. I wouldn't mind getting fatty back. At least he has some experience.
