  1. I don't think the meeting is that bad. I think it's good they included Konerko in it. The article said other GMs are like vultures right now. For now KW accepts Konerko's assertion the team hasn't given up and can still get it together. That doesn't mean he's not going to consider possible trades to pull the trigger on before the deadline. I think it's refreshing a player was included in the meeting.
  2. I like the optimism and can only hope, but the team does appear to stink. The only hope for the kind of run you suggest is to hit like tonight. Thirteen hits a game every game and I would believe we have a chance. But that isn't going to happen. With our s***ty bullpen it is going to take so much offense game after game to put a streak together. The Sox have not shown that. Like one of you said corpseball gives way to one decent game per week.
  3. We need Ichiro. Keep Iguchi and sign Ichiro. I see Ichiro's style of play as something we desperately need. It'll wake up eveybody.
  4. Oh boy. He and Olivo will go off this series. It's been that kind of year. Maggs, Hurt, Rowand, Marte, Howry, Sammy, Kip (kidding) where are you guys now that we need you?
  5. Ventura i may buy some tix if i can make it home this summer. You got good seats? I haven't been to cell in a while and it'll be less crowded this summer.
  6. Jenks as you all said is the only candidate. If they had an all star game for name players who stunk the first half, however. On the team would be ... Paulie, Uribe, Dye, MacDougal, Iguchi, Crede, Erstad. AJ would be an alternate. Oz would be on there as a member of the coaching staff.
  7. It's been said before by many but the retooling of our bullpen since the title season has been a major joke. I don't know what KW is going to do to fix it for the future.
  8. Sox are so bad it's beyond belief. Of course the Sox are done.
  9. Just curious. You are saying we basically should trade the whole team. Do you realize putting AA and AAA players on the field and the mound will mean we are the Royals for the next 10 years? Who are we going to get in return from contending teams worth a bleep? They want our players, yes, but they are not going to trade the Sox any of their good players. If you think the Sox can win with minor leaguers the next 10 years think again. The Royals have proven you can lose year after year after year.
  10. You know what's wild? KW could make some trades that really turn us into the Royals for years to come. Mark B is one of the best pitchers in Sox history. He's about to be let go? The Cardinals better give us some damn good players for him. I mean losing Mark B and Dye will not improve this team. Are we planning on losing 110 games???? Be careful what you wish for with trades this time of year. Our minor leaguers haven't exactly come up and looked like studs. I can't believe how s*** we've become since winning it all. It's the 85 Bears revisited. It could be a long time before we contend again.
  11. Now even Danks sucks. Man are the Sox going to have a lot of no shows at the Cell the rest of the year.
  12. The team stunk in spring training and didn't do much of anything once the games started to count. No turning point. We were .500 for a while then the bullpen completely rotted and we started to lose or win ugly every single night.
  13. How can a team with this kind of starting pitching be so horrible? Sad.
  14. "The Sox don't stink anymore" was a great banner one glorious season. The Sox do stink now. What a pathetic team we have out there, injuries of course part of the problem to go with the awful reworking of the bullpen and sudden lack of home runs.
  15. Is Mark the best pitcher in White Sox history? It's possible, isn't it? Who else might be better?
  16. We need to do what the Yankees do and trade all our prospects for proven players. Right now we should start to rework the team by trading any decent prospects for veteran middle relievers (I know, none are available).
  17. The Sox were not a "fluke" in 05. The baseball season is too long for any champ to be labeled a fluke. The team survived the season and dominated the postseason. It was a great team and the pitching only got better as the postseason progressed. It was perfection, not a fluke. He is a moron for saying that. No, there was no dynasty. The team was one and done, but it was not a fluke.
  18. I think Irish is right. It's time to replan for next year. This team has only one chance to finish respectable this year. To start blasting home run after home run to go with our starting pitching. ---- Isn't it strange to have the season pretty much over in early June? Poor Thome. The Sox haven't done squat since Big Jim arrived. He doesn't deserve this.
  19. You said it all Irish. The offense is beyond embarrassing. We're done in early June. Amazing.
  20. Oh, it's gonna be a while. Good thing the Sox took care of business in the postseason 2 years ago. The Sox are like the 85 Bears; one and done. But at least we got the one.
  21. The problem is, what do we blow up? With injuries, we're playing Fields, Owens, Terrero. We got no minor league ss to replace Uribe do we? If we trade starters, we'll just be weak there to go with our weak bullpen. So what do we do? Trade Dye for what? Trade Mark B for what? Remember the talk of dynasty after we won it all? That seems so stupid right now.

    Bullpen

Sorry to start a new thread but ... are you kidding me? How can this be happening? Worst bullpen in modern history?
  23. And Dye, Thome, AJ, Uribe, Iguchi, Paulie don't suck?
  24. Serious question. is anybody else worried that a loss tonight coupled with Cleveland's automatic win against the crap Royals has pretty much eliminated the Sox from the division race the first week of June? Are we only playing for a wild card the rest of the way? We knew the division would be tough but to be close to eliminated in June?
