  1. Who says Anderson found his stroke? He gave me a stroke watching him take feeble swings at the ball and hit blistering pop ups.
  2. Great post winningugly. I am amazed at how bad the Tigers are playing. It's like the ghost of Roger Maris pushed Granderson to the turf and that throw to first on the bunt was horrific. And there was no reason Monroe (lf?) was playing so far in on that line drive off his glove. Bad baseball. That said, it's not over yet. The Cardinals are equally mediocre and could easily drop the next 3. Cards starter had nothing tonight. I was amazed at Maggs' horrific at bats tonight. He was getting some meat to hack at. Tigers are in a funk right now.
  3. We desperately need somebody like Kenny Rogers/Jamie Moyer. What do you guys have against signing Redman to a cheap deal and see what he can do as a veteran? Sometimes it's about more than numbers. He didn't pitch that bad this past year with woeful (except against the Sox) KC.
  4. Good stats, kalapse. I can't argue with those numbers. Not bad at all.
  5. Didn't Johnny Callison play for the Cub at the end? He was a pretty good player. Remember in those days pitching dominated, too.
  6. These grades made you want to puke? I don't know why some people thought these guys were so good. C is average; does anybody back me that all 5 of these guys were average? What's so mean about that? These guys did not have stellar seasons. OK I could go B- but what's wrong with a C?
  7. I think our competition remains in the Central. We should have been able to beat out the Twins this year but we simply sucked the second half. The Tigers probably aren't going away and the Twins seem to be good every year. The Royals already are competitive against us. Who's to say Cleveland doesn't rebound. Entering this past season the Indians were expected to be good again. We do have to make some changes or we're not going to make the playoffs again. If we enter the season with the same roster as this year, we're out again. So trade Pods, one of our starters, one of our young ofs or Fields and let KW do his magic.
  8. Why? They were almost the same as yours. I wasn't as harsh on Pods.
  9. I don't know why you'd say AJ doesn't deserve better than a C. Look around baseball. There aren't many better hitters at the catcher position. I don't know his stolen base stats as to how well he threw guys out. Is he still respectable there? Anybody know? But judging from some of his key bombs which should have sparked this team big time but didn't, I think he deserves the A minus; B plus type grade. My bullpen grades were basically Cs. I thought Jenks deserved an A because of his great save totals. Those other guys I thought were average at best. I guess MacD mighta deserved a B- in my mind but not much better than that.
  10. Since there are so few posts early in this offseason. Here are my grades for the Sox as to how they performed this past season. Please add yours. I will not include all the Sox. Paulie - A Iguchi- B plus. Uribe - C Crede - A AJ - A minus. Thome - A Pods - C-minus, D plus Anderson C-minus. Dye - A plus. Buehrle - C minus. Jose Contreras - B Garland - B Freddie - C Vaz - C Brandon - C minus Jenks - A Riske - C minus MacDougal - C Cotts - D Thornton - C Cintron - C Gload - C Ozuna - C Mack - C. I am not high on our bench. Oz - B (we did win 90 games) Cora - D Walker - C Cooper - C minus Needs for next year: Get rid of Pods; upgrade there. Need bullpen overhaul Let Brandon start; trade one of the starters to make room for him
  11. It's amazing how many people overlook the guys on the current team. There are very few better than Dye. DDD. Don't Deal Dye. Seriously some people need to get over this love of the unknown. You ain't going to get better than Dye. And for the money? My gawd he is underpaid!!
  12. He'll be worthless next year. He'll be "tired" since he's playing an extra month or so like our team last year. I'm still sick of that argument our team was worn out.
  13. Is there any serious talk of us getting Ichiro? I love that guy. He's being wasted in Seattle. How bout Brandon and Fields for Ichiro? I mean this is Ichiro??
  14. The Tigers are last year's White Sox revisited. Give em the trophy now. And please Tigers, be tired and underachieve next year as we did this season.
  15. Keep dumping money into the stadium; make it look better and better. This is a non story. Who cares?

Is Brian Anderson the next Jeremy Reed? Just wondering. What makes Brian a better prospect than Reed?
  17. Taken off the AP wire tonight. You still want A-Rod?? He is a loser. Paid too much. Give me a hard worker anyday. The Hackensack Record They talk about pinstripe tradition, but the roster is plagued by petty rivalries and jealousies that act as a cancer in the postseason. Derek Jeter can’t stand Alex Rodriguez and refuses to come to his defense. Mike Mussina doesn’t like A-Rod, either, although, come to think of it, the Stanford grad hasn’t much use for any of his teammates. No one talks to Johnson. Everyone thinks Carl Pavano is a joke. The Yankees’ best pitcher, Chien-Ming Wang, is isolated by his limited knowledge of English. On and on, the list of dysfunctions keeps going. Instead of a dynasty, the Yankees have become a newer version of the Braves — consistently outplayed by younger, hungrier teams such as the Diamondbacks (2001), the Angels (2002 and 2004), the Marlins (2003) and now the Tigers. Steinbrenner has only two choices now: He can fire Torre or trade A-Rod. They’re the ones who must answer to the Yankees’ consistent underachievement. By all accounts, The Boss already has decided it’s Torre who’ll go, ready to replace him with Lou Piniella
  18. Why would so many of you want this guy? He defines losing. He batted eighth the other day. It turned into the sideshow. Why did he bat him eighth? Cause Torre is sick of him, just like Oz was sick of lightbat Brian Anderson. Leave ARod to rot in NY. As long as he is there we won't have to worry about NY winning it. Keep Crede should be our rallying cry. Just say no to AROD and keep Joe.
  19. It probably is too simplistic a story for the Chicago papers to write about, but maybe whitesox.com's writer could do a story on what exactly is the schedule for our "tired" pitchers this offseason. Do they simply do nothing throwing wise from now until January? Do they throw a little bit? Admittedly I have no clue what guys do right after the season til spring training nears. Do they completely shut it down??? Will Mark B even pick up a ball for the next 3 months?? Man ... there will be no tired excuse next year. Our boys have a lot of time to think about how much they underachieved this season.
  20. If they hire Piniella, no way they deal A-Rod. If Torre stays, I bet he's dealt. I don't want A-Rod on the Sox. He will be a major cancer. Why do you think he's booed at Yankee Stadium and the Rangers were horrible with the guy?? He makes too much cash. He belongs in NY with the Yankees with that salary.
  21. How can anyone be wrong who has an opinion about baseball? Do we need go get out our resumes? Yes I played the game. Yes I follow the White Sox closely and have for a long time.
  22. Sometimes you guys astound me. You act like a simple post on the message board is something I'm 100 percent behind. I thought these places were for fun discussion of topics rather than everybody agreeing with each other. Maybe I want your opinion on whether Moyer or Redman would be a good idea. Maybe I've seen the spark Guiel shows in KC and WONDER if we should take him instead of somebody like Mack. And throw out there what if we got Bonds and Griffey? I'm sure I'll tire of this before too long and you'll have one less guy to throw out some unpopular ideas. --and getting my opinion from ESPN, not really. But I follow the media and the papers and I'm sure they do influence opinion and at least help shape it. But like anybody else I hear something and agree or disagree with it. p.s. Don't discount the money issue with the "pansies" as you called them. Nowadays money is very important to how these guys view each other I bet. True since Jeter gets almost as much, maybe that's a bit different.
  23. The one bright spot is if we get Arod he will continue to want to prove he can win a ring. Can Uribe play third? I'd rather have Arod at ss than Uribe.
  24. Maybe you are right. I hope so; cause I think we really could get him. But we'll have to give up Crede and I do love Joe.
  25. Regardless, Uribe is a talent who should take instruction and become the hitter he can be.
