  1. Quero and Tauchman can hit the baseball. Both good pickups. Whoever got us Quero knows what he's doing especially.
  2. Are we expecting a disco demolition type crowd in terms of size?
  3. If this draws a big crowd it is a huge deal (will it?). As such you'd think the Pope would give the homily. Not that difficult to tape a 10-minute homily in Rome and play it on the scoreboard. Certainly the Pope knows about this Mass at his fave park.
  4. He needs to lift and pull such pitches over the wall.
  5. My gosh. Sox returned to normal form on road and just got slugged by Houston. Never a ballgame. Annihilation.
  6. White Sox are on a roll tra la tra la. Winning baseball is back. Meidroth. Wow.
  7. Yeah but a lot of our fans don't want to 'rush' anybody ever. Those fans have to be thrilled Tauchman is getting at bats.
  8. Second round draft pick out of LSU is ready. Thanks to our loyal fans for attending a ton of home games so far this year. It appears the Sox front office has caught the fever. Fans applauding the team and shaking the Cell has to have heartened the guys who normally only get criticized by us fans (and rightly so). Your excitement in the stands has helped the Sox attain a good home record (oh so bad on the road tho). We're calling up young studs left and right in part because of all the positive vibes around 35th and Shields. True I am a hater of the tank/rebuild, but as a jaded fan I deserve the right to return to the bandwagon when I feel it's time. The Sox are rising baby. Keep bringing up young guys! And start winning some road games baby!
  9. Out of sight out of mind. Get rid of the poor guy and let him be Sheets-like in his new home. Have mercy on him and let him go somewhere else. He's not going to contribute here. Trade him for a non prospect or two. Or release him. It's just money.
  10. Tauchmann is way better than the other stiffs we've tried to play in that spot the last few seasons.
  11. In the "what have you done for me lately?" department ... The Royals have clobbered the Sox in something like 18 of the last 20 meetings or whatever it is, winning series after series. Now because of one series that our Sox are destined to sweep the KC fans are all upset and want major changes including getting rid of the manager. Only way to shut up fans is to win every game. That's how it is and always will be. Look at the Knicks throwing a fit and firing a coach who actually made that woebegone franchise a winner.
  12. Would have been interesting to hear Hawk call the last 3 seasons if Hawk hadn't lost his ability to call a fly ball a homer or easy out.
  13. Agreed but with pitcher's arms falling off by the dozens each year, they've proven they are not worth the investment. Cole was great last year; now he's nothing for 15 months or more, maybe even done being effective forever. I'm sure college and high school coaches contribute to this. I mean they'll use their top two pitchers over and over and never take them out if it means winning at all costs. I think it's weird kids pitch complete games in high school and college, throw 170 pitches in college then in the pros it's 85 pitches and out.
  14. Tavern pizza might be the best food you can ever eat except for a well cooked steak and baked potato or true Italian plate of spaghetti and meatballs. Tavern pizza and those squares are delish.
  15. Didn't Petey Rose once say good hitters adjust their stance/approach all the time? If Robert did that, nice.
  16. Ha! Tonight role reversal. The Royals looked like the chumps. That wild throw to first. That error by the infielder. And the clutch hits of Robert and Teel. I'll give the Sox credit. I'll never support losing one game much less tanking but I do love me some Teel, Meidroth, Robert (if he'd get his head right and frickin hit), Quero and Beni. Also Tauchmann deserves my support. He's hitterish and making Getz look good. Poor Royals. We get even with 'em this weekend.
  17. Cause Sox play well at home. Winning actually matters to our loyal fans.
  18. I forgot to tell u all to bet the house. We win 2 of 3 or 3 of 3 for the same reason as Tiger series. We are at home and loose and KC takes us for granted. Sick of seeing the Royals turn around their season 2 years in a row by beating up the Sox. Can't possibly happen yet again, baby. They are called ODDS.
  19. I wonder if the Sox front office is getting sick of losing amid this parade of bringing guys up like Meidroth, Elko, etc.
  20. Baseball is such a joke. Today's hot story: "Arizona Diamondbacks starter Corbin Burnes will undergo Tommy John surgery. Brutal loss for the D-backs in his first year of a six-year, $210 million contract." I mean, cmon. 17 mill a year down the drain. If baseball teams refused to pay these run of a mill oft injured pitchers this kind of money there would be a trickle down effect and games would be affordable. Those people who lived in the glory days when they could go watch MLB at Comiskey for 8 dollar box seats and have to be a glutton to spend even 10-15 bucks total on glorious concessions (food, drink, hats) should count their blessings. They could go to 20 games a summer sit in the box seats and have a blast instead of waiting on guys like Cole, Burnes to heal up. And owners wonder why governments won't pass laws taxing normal people so the billionaires can build stadiums for free. Ha. I despise Reinsdorf of course but can understand why he wouldn't want to give ANY pitcher a huge contract especially in this era of 4-5 inning starters (of course Jerry doesn't do it to keep things affordable for the loyal fans who support his wretched organization). Pitchers should be poorly paid. They are all clones of each other. Fierce fastballs and the out pitch cutter or whatever we're calling it these days. Four innings, bye bye. Get well, Mr. Burnes. it's not your fault you are hurt but also enjoy that money.
  21. True. It's because of the new way teams use starting pitchers. Pitchers are restricted to about 4 or 5 innings max so the Sox can throw out a bunch of average to below average arms and then start the parade of relievers with guys who throw hard and have cutters. So with all teams' rotations about the same (4-5 inning wonders) you get six decent hitters and you can contend. We've now got close to six with Teel up and Elko up to go with Beni, Quero, Meidroth and Robert.
  22. Sox are average to good at home right now; abysmal on road. The new manager is a success cause last year they stunk at home.
  23. Soccer is different. Soccer owners are different. Baseball and football are not building IMO unless the city or state pays a huge portion.
  24. There's no way the stadium will be built without a deal with the city or state to pay for most of it. Things don't work otherwise in sports. If a new stadium is built, it ain't gonna be at 35th and Shields area. Ishbia has no ties to that area and Bridgeport may be quaint but it's old money and Ishbia just isn't building in that part of the city. It would make no sense for Ishbia to build where the current stadium is located. Hello Arlington or somewhere downtown or yes, moving the team out of state which is most likely if the city/state don't build them a new stadium downtown. Or Arlington build them one.
