The trade lovers have to be salivating. Beni and Houser are both valuable pieces to a contender that has money to pay Beni.

I'm starting to learn our position players but I really still know nothing about our pitchers since they only work an inning or two and I don't watch the games only the highlights ... so somebody have mercy on greg and tell me which pitchers to pay attention to (future stars) when I peruse the box scores and which ones are stiffs who are about as effective as fathom would be at this stage of his career/life. Thanx in advance.

Good call. I wonder how he could do it without outing his name and going on camera. Maybe send an email to all the outlets who cover the team, TV, radio and print? But if it was an ill timed ill informed mama joke a lifetime ban mite be too much. It might have been a dumb harmless mama joke. Either way the fan was stupid to go there and insensitive.

I would hate to play for the Sox as they constantly make you change positions. I remember in youth baseball I was a stellar third baseman and comfy there. The final year we had a good bat come up and the guy played third. So he took third and I went to the outfield and was very shaky out there and went from wanting the ball hit to me at 3B to dreading it in LF. It was like a pasture out there in my mind. The center fielder did as. much as he could to help me out. But having Yoda have to play RF, ugh, poor fella.

Shows you should never heckle about family members especially moms. Even if he didn't refer to her dying you gain nothing by going there with a mom comment. They should just make sure the guy is kept out of Comiskey the rest of this season and half of next season. And make him write a letter of apology to the player and make sure he emails it.

Maybe he's one of those loser type fans, like in certain college groups, who research the opponent to know what to yell at them.

6/25 getaway day game thread vs AZ

Sosa appears to be a real player. What's his upside? Semien? -
Lucky for him we have very few fans. I was thinking the same thing u wrote until I realized the Sox probably have a loyal fanbase of about 1,000 to 3,000 fans. Everybody else fair weather. Most of the loyal ones are old and won't check the Internet.

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.

Poor guy's hammy made it through the cold weather months. Hope he doesn't come back too soon and tear it. Robert seems like a can't miss prospect physical specimin (like Eloy) but is another Eloy. Inexplicably he can't hit. -

Nah. Our organization pulled a Knicks. Had a fit we got eliminated and canned a great fit as manager. Better for him, though. You win with talent and the White Sox only care about money not product. -
I'm speechless. Even if dead drunk a normal human wouldn't yell at a player about his deceased mom.

10-0? Back to the dumpster. What pathetic baseball. ... Has anyone noticed this year's Sox seem to have saved the Cardinals season? The Cards swept us and in doing so, woke up. -
The Thunder front office probably pulled off the best feat in sports history with that team considering how tiny a market. Incredible regular season record proves postseason was no fluke. Not sure how they worked the salary thing but they have great players and apparently aren't making Thunder owners go broke. Some tank lovers will tell me they tanked/rebuilt to get this good. I dunno about that. Hopefully somebody will write a piece on how they got this good. Greg doesn't merely accept they did the tank/rebuild thing. They have some players who other teams passed on, etc. Whenever I hear "Thunder" I think of thunder buddies in the underrated movie, "Ted."

Funny how Sheets turned out to be a better trade piece for the opposing team than Robert will be. Robert is an abysmal hitter/good fielder. I don't see a change of venue saving him like Sheets.

Nice pick up though by Getz in Houser.

6/21 game thread Sox at Jays 2:05 CDT
greg775 replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in 2025 Season in Review
Man we got clobbered today. Yesterday musta been the deal where the Jays took us lightly. They have such a much better team. Did anybody watch the Cub highlights? It must have been gale force winds blowing out. Simple fly balls were flying out of that place. -
However 10 homers. As you know I've bought into the lift and pull thing in assessing value.

Sox trade Andrew Vaughn to acquire Aaron Civale

Gavin Sheets is a fan fave in San Diego. Hitterish with a good organization. The fans apparently chant "Holy Sheets" when he comes up to the box. Good for Gavin. -
That isn't happening. The Sox are too cheap to win pennants. Isbia could change that but it may take 5-10 years after his taking over to win an ALCS.

Another Trash Lineup Jays vs Sox. Friday June 20. 6:10 ct
greg775 replied to JoshPR's topic in 2025 Season in Review
That's who he is, what he does now. He didn't like that 2023 season when he had five homers. He'll hit 20 again this year like last year if he stays healthy. -

Beni and Robert having good nights. -
I had a couple questions and thought Vargas deserved his own thread since he is starting to distance himself as a possible star. Do you think Vargas is a potential star? Has he passed Robert as our top everyday player? And potential player? Or instead of vaulting from a .235 hitter with 10 homers and 35 RBI get into a skid that puts him where most of our players are: .210, no power, no clutch hits? What do you say? Is 25 year old Vargas a super stud? Should we start to get excited and look forward to his at bats? I would say he is close to emerging as a guy you'd pay to watch play. Forgive me for starting a new thread but it seemed to me Vargas is close to distinguishing himself as a positive on a team full of negatives. And he could be a feather in Getz's cap.
