Sox, Cubs, Brewers, Twins paired together in future?
greg775 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The mods do a good job of preventing talk about politics. Trust me, they do. For instance as you know I have some opinions about my hometown of Chicago. I DO NOT dare speak about such concerns/issues as I still fear the mods sending me on a six-month vacation from here for talking politics. They are all over putting a stop to non baseball talk Caulfield. -
Sox, Cubs, Brewers, Twins paired together in future?
greg775 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Will we go to playing the Cubs 20 times? That's ridiculous. I thought baseball fixed this realizing it was a mistake to have the Sox play KC 19 times a season (by the way I was right about the Sox again turning KC's season around; they now are locks for the wildcard and mite even win the division after boatracing the Sox and regaining swag). If the Sox are gonna be in the same division as the Cubs just have them break away from MLB and play each other 150 times a spring/summer. Dumb decision Manfred. -
Poor Gordon had very few good at bats. He was the definition of utility player. No bat. Good prediction by the poster about Sox scoring runs. He hit the nail on the head. Hope he bet the house baby.

8/17/2025 - Sox @ Royals - 1:10 pm - Davis v. Bergert
greg775 replied to WestEddy's topic in 2025 Season in Review
Greg doesn't usually speak up for himself. But I told everyone to bet the house on the sweep. So sad for baseball. It's unfair to the wild card contenders to have the Royals turn their season around with a sweep of the Sox this late in the season. Now KC storms to a playoff berth again. All cause the Sox gave them hope/momentum again. Sad, sad, sad. Even though the Sox are a bit improved this year I am all for penalizing them for fielding a noncompetitive team for the most part for so many years. Embarrassing sweep. The highlight of this season has unquestionably been a team in yellow uniforms honoring Oz, Paulie, AJP and Mark B in banana ball. -
This might sound dumb but have we missed Meidroth greatly? And shouldn't both our catchers be in the lineup every day? Also inexplicably Beni is 6-for-36, killing us. He prolly thought he was gonna get traded and is depressed. We need his bat to win. I'm shocked our pitching staff has been OK this year. It is by far the most "no named" staff in Sox history. None of these guys make you say, 'This kid can pitch."

Tonight's game was cool to see Ozzie coach first base and do the Banana dance and Konerko step to the plate. He shoulda took one pitch LOL. Banana management sure did a nice job honoring Chicago the past two nights. Nice introductions of Paulie, Buehrle, Ozzie and AJP; honoring Chicago firefighters both nights; the Banana players doing a dance to the Super Bowl shuffle; some guy on the broadcast saying there's not a bad seat in Rate Field. Honoring a family that has taken in several foster kids both nights. That's neat they didn't feel the need to honor any Cubs. Having Bedard of the Hawks there and MJ of the Sox/Bulls woulda been neat. Have Jordan bat again on 35th and Shields.

If AJP likes Banana Ball that's all I need to know. I LOVE me some AJP and he saw the electricity first hand.
-
Why the anger? No I haven't followed the Banana phenomenon. Now after watching em the last two nights I've learned a bit. What's with the anger?

Sox have been a godsend to the Royals. Saving their playoff hopes again. Very annoying to live out here and see the Sox get boatraced by KC game after game.
-
Say what you want. Nobody would have thought a fake team could fill 50,000 seat stadiums. The free food idea is genius. Anybody know if they charge for parking? Most sporting events these days charge so much for parking you'd think you were in Vegas getting ripped off by the casino owners.
-
My point is because of the Sox they WILL make the playoffs. You wait. They'll be hot as heck after this sweep turns their season around.
-
I will say I'm amazed in a good way at the Bananas success. This has been going on for several years now and they sell out all the games they play. My gosh 100,000 fans on two nights in Colorado; Rate Field is sold out for two nights. I watched the game on stream and it was as everyone says, very fun. AJ and Mark Buehrle were into it and it just was awesome. I think they charge 40, 50 and 60 for tickets maybe. Not exactly 10 dollars but the fans that attended prolly say it was worth it. There's some kind of lesson to be learned here. Banana fever. https://www.sportstravelmagazine.com/bananas-on-the-rocks-five-things-the-savannah-bananas-get-right/

I truly do think the Sox are improved this season so this is mostly frustration being expressed. I get so mad because the Sox are about to save the Royals season. Bet the house times 10. KC will sweep this series and thus start a hot streak that will get them in the playoffs. The Royals dominance of the Sox saved their season last year and they boatraced the Sox for years before that. It's not fair, baseball. Even though the Sox are better they still reek on the road and it's unfair KC gets to ride three wins over the Sox (again) to save their season and get 'em hot for the playoff stretch. Make us get competitive, baseball commish. It's unfair to teams that don't play the Sox at opportune times.

This is insane. Any one of us coulda thought of this idea. Kudos to whoever invented this concept. Can you imagine how rich he/she is? And how bout the players? I would think there are making so much $$. To pack the Cell for those prices is unbelievable. Can you imagine the money made on concessions today? I wonder if they charged for parking.

Our everyday lineup is good and full of potential. Our pitching reeks. Not Getz's fault. No $$s. I think this season he grades A-minus. Jerry grades F

Illinois High School Basketball Thread

Thank you. Sounds like the coach is qualified. Nice resume. Worked at St. Xavier and all those other places. High school sports are so weird. Obviously we can't win if we don't recruit and recruiting high school kids has to be strange. I met Bobby Frasor two winters ago at a KU basketball game. I was asking him all about Bro Rice. He had to think I was wacko being an adult so interested in my almie mater. Nice guy though. -
Getz so far is doing a fine job especially considering the financial constraints.

Is “The 78” Dead? Or even more alive? Fire announce plans for SSS
greg775 replied to soxfan18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Old Comiskey was that way. If you had lower level boxes first 5-10 rows or so you'd walk in the park and walk thru one of the tunnel entrances and BOOM, a glorious baseball field overcoming all your senses. I don't think my senses have ever been through a more glorious experience than entering old Comiskey field level. Actually Wrigley may be that way too but I can't remember that as much as Sox Park, 35th and Shields. -

Good post. If folks want to kill an hour or two go to youtube and watch the 3-4 people who go to games and rate the ballparks. Our park, Rate Field, consistently is the worst park the reviewer(s) have ever watched a game. Our park does reek but it has to be in the top five in terms of delicious (albeit overpriced) food. -
We gotta give credit where it's due. Getz is no longer the devil. He's made some great moves including picking up this Mead guy. As well as Tauchman and the others we discuss a lot. Folks, it's time to raise a glass to Getz. I'm thinking he 'gets it' in terms of talent evaluation, baby. BTW: Quero and Teel are for real IMO. Any current or former haters of Getz willing to raise your glass with me to toast (not roast anymore) him?
-
Like I said before he is gonna take Chicago by storm. He's the Sox version of Pete Crow-Armstrong, Bobby Witt Jr., Connor Bedard. Ten home runs at this stage is remarkable. His last two homers have been rockets.

Would you be on board with a rebrand when Ishbia takes over?
greg775 replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Great post. The block lettering unis and hats were intriguing. Kind of unprofessional though as u said like a softball uniform. I will say the Sox have always had good uniforms though. But you can't beat the current hats and jerseys. Like somebody said the rap community all wore Sox hats and Sox gear. The current S-O-X script is gorgeous. Again, the best hat in baseball tying the Yankees. I'd prefer we keep the current unis but scrap those dark red and black ones we wear sometimes. To be honest our best uniforms in my lifetime prolly were the red ones that Dick Allen wore in that picture with the cigarette in the dugout. Our only bad jerseys were the ones with the collars Zisk wore. Anybody else an Eric Soderholm fan? He could hit (in '77 at least). -
I love Frank Thomas. All I was trying to say is our lowly White Sox, an embarrassment to those who pay attention any more, finally have a Caitlin Clark, a Connor Bedard, a Bobby Witt for those who think I love the Royals, a guy like the Cubs player with the 3 names. That's all I was trying to say. I worship MJ and Frank both in a baseball sense of the word. Not guaranteeing anything except you watch Colson rake and try to tell me he doesn't have perfect hitting form.
-
You are not a believer in Colson? It's OK to get excited about something involving the White Sox when deserved IMO.

I knew greg would get called out for drifting to politics. Why did I go there? Check the thread and there are some political comments in here. I drifted there in response figuring I'd prolly get gregged. I was crossing my fingers I wouldn't get suspended.
