I assume Notre Dame added a ton of portal players like everybody else. Could it be the portal is going to eventually eliminate all but one, maybe two powerhouse teams per season? it's still a team game and portal guys can take a while to fit in.

All of them have somehow found a way to acquire players good enough to contend. Lip's front office comment would be the only reason for the Sox total ineptitude if we are saying they actually have a desire to win. I can buy the argument that the Sox front office 'may' be that bad.

None of them tried to lose like we have done for a long time.

It prolly doesn't seem that way but I hear you, LipMan. I just think in our Sox case the tank/rebuild thing has been an utter DISASTER. For gosh sakes Bill Veeck at least tried to win (1977 pitch at risk to Richie Zisk). And something you and others won't explain to me: How the heck do fellow low market teams KC, Cleveland, Minnie Detroit do it? It ain't the tank/rebuild method. They just get enough players to compete. Sorry to be a broken record; the losing just tears me up year after year.

I never thought we'd be like those Orioles teams of whenever it was, 8-10 years ago mabe, that were out of it in May every year and were the dregs of baseball. Sox really have damaged their reputation historically. We used to be average to contention fairly often. Now we stink every single season. Very sad. I know the tank/rebuild lovers don't mind much but it saddens me we've become the Bears and Bulls of baseball, noncontenders.

Might as well lose 100 again. Wonder if we can get there.

Sox have had more no name stiffs like Civale the last few tank seasons than in their entire previous history. Name after name of crummy ballplayers. We go through players like Elizabeth Taylor went thru husbands. ... Civale needs to say sayonara.

Getting boatraced by the Royals again makes me want to flush the whole organization. I realize I've expressed positivity this season regarding the Sox, but darn it, these losses to KC are ridiculous. Nights like this make me want to puke. Two seasons in a row now I have only watched highlights, no MLB.com, so at least I have that going for me. 12-1. You must be kidding me. KC blows and we lose like that to them ... again?? p.s. the sox win probability was 65 percent after Beni's homer. What a worthless stat is win probability.

Somebody needs to count the actual number of fans at the game tomorrow. What a revolting game tonight. Massey beats on the Sox again after being in the minors for a hella long time. Royals need to send thank you cards to all White Sox once they clinch a playoff spot again thanks to our boys.

Should be interesting to see how he hits the final five weeks. Personally I'd keep him. At worst he's the best defensive center fielder we've had since Ken Berry or Chet Lemon. Maybe he's blossoming because he's finally 100 percent healthy. I'd take that chance. Everybody is worried about age of players when the team becomes a contender around here. Why aren't other teams afraid of guys 30-35? Our fans act like 29 is ancient. Other teams do not. It doesn't take a team of superstars to win our pathetic division. When are the Sox gonna acquire enough players to at least contend for a WC? Keeping Robert to go with some of the young hitters would be a smart move.

I don't think so regarding too much hype. He's hitting home runs off all kinds of pitches and terrorizing the bleacher fans with his missiles. Whoever passed on him to let him fall to the 20s in the draft was dumb. He is amazing.

Teams blew it in not offering the Sox a lot for Robert. Somebody coulda stole him. He's been healthy all year and when motivated appears to be special. The arrival of Colson seems to have woken him up. I mean when you are playing with complete stiffs like last year it has to wear on you. Now he has Colson around. Plus Teel is for real folks. Quero is tremendous and shoot me if you will but I like Tauchman and Beni. Tauchman has had a lot of good games and is light years better than somebody like Pham. Hope the Sox build around the core and spend a few bucks to contend. They have way more good players than last year to build around if they wish to do so. We all know the pitching staff isn't good nuff to do anything special. Nice win over the Twinks who own us normally.

Colson Montgomery is a superstar in the making obviously. He's so good there are no words. Robert may now blossom or at least we can hope he's turned the corner. Did you see his form on that home run? My gosh he crushed it and had the natural lift and pull uppercut.

I can't believe another season is almost over. And Jerry didn't take a hit in his wallet at all. Our fans are so good that attendance wasn't half bad again this season. I would say next year we currently project to be a .450 team. So that's another wasted season. Ugh.

I kind of like Getz. I think everybody should agree I was right that the tank/rebuild thing was always a bad idea by Kenny, Hahn and moneybags saver Jerry. I do think the team is way better than last year's abomination. Perhaps next April and two weeks of May the Sox will actually go 5 over .500 and be in the race for once.

Tauchman having a good year has helped. I still like Beni. Quero, Teel can hit; Montgomery obviously can hit; Robert has been better prior to all star break and after. Sosa has 17 homers. We can hit. The problem with our team figures to be pitching in the future. Sox have a bunch of no names who haven't had to ever pitch in a pressure situation cause of our team's burying itself the first six weeks of the season. No pressure at all. Sox need to work on the rotation this offseason. Bullpen has stunk forever it seems.

36 rbi in 34 games? Hitting .325. He's doing well for the Brewers. Hopefully they win it all and he has a huge postseason.

Baseball is best with AL teams playing everybody in the AL and just a few interleague games. Playing the Cubs so many times is absurd. And frankly playing Detroit, Cleveland Minnie, Milwaukee a ton of times is flat out boring. Who cares about travel issue mentioned by Manfred? It works well now with private jets. Teams are making plenty of money flying around.

Salt Lake is an underrated town. I like it. However they'll need a retractable roof. For sure.

No on the pitchers hitting again. That automatic out is important in games where the pitcher hits. Agree on Cubs/Sox. Will be the end of baseball interest in Chicago. Cubs fans don't want to play us; and we don't need to play the Cubs. Yuck.

The mods do a good job of preventing talk about politics. Trust me, they do. For instance as you know I have some opinions about my hometown of Chicago. I DO NOT dare speak about such concerns/issues as I still fear the mods sending me on a six-month vacation from here for talking politics. They are all over putting a stop to non baseball talk Caulfield.
