He's an OK player but nobody we should 'miss.'

7/3 DUB Thread Sox @ Dodgers 9:10PM
Predictably we get swept. Since our division now stinks it makes the tank lovers look dumb compared to those of us who wanted to keep the team strong the traditional way. We can't even contend now when the division reeks. Keep on tanking, baby. It works so well.

Yes. The fanbase is mainly old people. The traditional stats are dead and gone. Batting average doesn't matter. RBIs don't matter. A .220 batting average is fine nowadays as long as you stroke a lot of home runs. And pitching has been decimated/boring with the five inning max starter, 100 pitches. Games still take too long and too many pitchers are used. It is very very boring without personalities and goals to achieve as far as the old time stats that determined Hall entry.

Nah, it's analytics that ruined the grand ol game. Sad.

What a terrible loss that was. Boom, an excellent game goes awry late.

I hear you. I am one of the old time fans who is saddened by the end of the complete game starter and the 3,000 strikeout guy. And the guy who wins 300 games. ... Think how sad it is that we'll never have another 300 game winner. Never. Very few guys will pitch complete game no hitters ever again. Sad, sad. I also wonder if anybody will ever get 3,000 hits again. Doubtful. Candidates for 300 wins: Nobody. Candidates for 3,000 hits ... Machado (no. I just sense he'll pull a Jose Abreu and at some point just stop hitting). Freeman: No. He's 35. Altuve: 35, too old as well. Ramirez: Too old. Lindor: Too old by today's standards as well. Remembrer today's standards are u are pretty worthless to a team at 35, 36. Bryce Harper: Maybe the best chance. Betts: Maybe a decent chance. Mike Trout and Ohtani: Doubtful. Soto: Doubtful. Bobby Witt: Maybe. I would say the only players who have a realistic chance to hit 3,000 hits in a career before it's totally impossible to do so: Witt and Harper (gets hurt a lot). Then Altuve and Freeman. Prediction: None of 'em make it.

The announcers made a good point. Kershaw will be the last pitcher in baseball history to hit the 3,000 mark in strikeouts. Amazing.

Is Shane Smith really that good? His pitches got raked tonight. Is he a 25 year old wonder or blunder?

Trading Deadline
I still say we're going nowhere in the standings if all we do is trade guys. Vargas and Beni ... if the rumors are true I could understand them. They both are major league hitters IMO. Beni doesn't hit for average as well as he should but will get you 15-20 homers and average to bad defense. Vargas seems like a real player who like Meidroth could be part of a contender. I would assume Sox will be after more pitching.

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
Robert did a nice job of avoiding injury this season til now. Is this the longest he'd gone in his career healthy? From Opening Day til the time of this injury? I bet so.

That’s a white Sox giant series winner
That's a great post. I used to feel this way you describe. But like I've said before the Sox accomplished an amazing feat in my life: Made me not care about how they fare on a daily basis. Considering how big a fan I was I shudder to think how many fans in Chicago actually care about the White Sox right now. Not many.

Teel is for real. Meidroth is exceptional. Will make us forget Ozzie at ss or Iguchi at 2B wherever he plays 15 years. It seems like the Sox have led early in a ton of games this season. I betcha compared to last year it's monumental how many times the Sox have led after 1 or 2 innings.

The trade lovers have to be salivating. Beni and Houser are both valuable pieces to a contender that has money to pay Beni.

Game Thread, 6:40 PM CDT, 6/27/2025: Flo Rida concert after the game
I'm starting to learn our position players but I really still know nothing about our pitchers since they only work an inning or two and I don't watch the games only the highlights ... so somebody have mercy on greg and tell me which pitchers to pay attention to (future stars) when I peruse the box scores and which ones are stiffs who are about as effective as fathom would be at this stage of his career/life. Thanx in advance.

Fan banned from the Rate indefinitely
Good call. I wonder how he could do it without outing his name and going on camera. Maybe send an email to all the outlets who cover the team, TV, radio and print? But if it was an ill timed ill informed mama joke a lifetime ban mite be too much. It might have been a dumb harmless mama joke. Either way the fan was stupid to go there and insensitive.

I would hate to play for the Sox as they constantly make you change positions. I remember in youth baseball I was a stellar third baseman and comfy there. The final year we had a good bat come up and the guy played third. So he took third and I went to the outfield and was very shaky out there and went from wanting the ball hit to me at 3B to dreading it in LF. It was like a pasture out there in my mind. The center fielder did as. much as he could to help me out. But having Yoda have to play RF, ugh, poor fella.

Shows you should never heckle about family members especially moms. Even if he didn't refer to her dying you gain nothing by going there with a mom comment. They should just make sure the guy is kept out of Comiskey the rest of this season and half of next season. And make him write a letter of apology to the player and make sure he emails it.

Maybe he's one of those loser type fans, like in certain college groups, who research the opponent to know what to yell at them.

Sosa appears to be a real player. What's his upside? Semien?

Lucky for him we have very few fans. I was thinking the same thing u wrote until I realized the Sox probably have a loyal fanbase of about 1,000 to 3,000 fans. Everybody else fair weather. Most of the loyal ones are old and won't check the Internet.

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
Poor guy's hammy made it through the cold weather months. Hope he doesn't come back too soon and tear it. Robert seems like a can't miss prospect physical specimin (like Eloy) but is another Eloy. Inexplicably he can't hit.

Nah. Our organization pulled a Knicks. Had a fit we got eliminated and canned a great fit as manager. Better for him, though. You win with talent and the White Sox only care about money not product.

I'm speechless. Even if dead drunk a normal human wouldn't yell at a player about his deceased mom.

10-0? Back to the dumpster. What pathetic baseball. ... Has anyone noticed this year's Sox seem to have saved the Cardinals season? The Cards swept us and in doing so, woke up.
