  1. Questions for all the experts on rebuilding vs keeping star players. Let's say the Sox had the Cubs' PCA. Would you all be in favor of trading him for prospects in the name of our rebuild? Or would our fans get to enjoy a star? I'm thinking the Sox would be shopping him for the cliche 3 stars in the making rather than actually enjoying a player for say 10 years. Not sure I trust the Sox way of building a WS champ.
  2. Wow. I wonder if Taylor's HR will hold up. Sox got the one hit needed to win one against Benetti's boys.
  3. Is Vinny Capra any good? He has quite the name, reminding folks of Cousin Vinny and Frank Capra. I wonder if Vinny is having a wonderful life.
  4. Big series for Detroit but only if they sweep us. A 4-game sweep cannot be overstated how that can vault a team's prospects for the postseason. Then the Royals get to turn their season around (again) against us in a 3 game set. I'm thinking this may be the series these 2 clubs just CANNOT get up for the AAA Sox. That said bet the house tonight on Chicago, definitely bet the house on the Sox Friday night vs. KC. These teams cannot possibly be excited about playing baseball in June against our Sox.
  5. He's 32 isn't he? That's pretty old.
  6. You'd think Robert would seek help from some hitting gurus. Has to grow old making outs more than 80 percent of the time.
  7. It's wrong on so many levels. For instance the Royals got well when they mauled the Sox all four games in that series. Now the Royals have reverted back to their lousy team and desperately need to play the Sox again to get back on track. We're single handedly affecting pennant races by our lousiness. I'd feel so much better as a fan if the commissioner reprimanded the organization or took away our first round pick as a penalty for this b.s. brand of baseball rosters. Sox are so bad the only player allegedly worth anything in a trade is a .180 hitter. Good thing these pitchers have been good this year cause the everyday lineup blows, even tho it's better than last year's lineup.
  8. Too bad Tauchman is 34. He seems hitterish. Do I need to add him to the list of current Sox I like? Right now it's him, Meidroth, Beni and Quero. I don't really care about any of our pitchers. Should I? Houser (is he related to Dick) had a nice line today.
  9. How come we didn't keep Naperville Nicky over Rojas. Who makes more cash? Gotta be close and Naperville Nicky probably would account for about 100 tickets sold per home game.
  10. Mitey Mite gets the first mention of canning the manager award. Not picking on you Mitey, just giving you props for the first. Usually when a team blows the manager gets the blame even tho GM and owner are worse offenders.
  11. Baltimore the latest to get some much needed wins over our Sox. Lotta teams tend to get fixed when they play Chicago.
  12. Sox remain kind of crummy on the road. Not too bad at home. Why is this Rojas guy on the team? That Mayo guy should be fined. He went out of his way to shove Sosa and almost start a fight. Today's performance suggests it's time to trade Robert for scraps if anybody wants him. The guy is a great fielder but simply can't hit. Give him a change of scenery and if he turns into Tatis well the Sox will know they are jinxed. Robert can't hit a baseball.
  13. Except for Rojas that's not a horrible lineup. Sox by 4 today. That's about the best lineup our skipper could come up with. Bet the house.
  14. Did you watch his 3 hits today? He's raking. He's now my favorite Sox player.
  15. Beni is hitterish. He makes a difference in the lineup. Some opposing GM could steal a very good ballplayer. He's our all star pick right now folks. He might even get an at bat in the game.
  16. The discussion is closed on the game thread as it was nicely heating up so to speak with differing thoughts. What I was trying to say that got pointed out after my post about statniks is three homers isn't bad in 30 at bats. The guy would actually hit a ton of HRs at that clip. And as quin pointed out he had 10 K's. Big deal. I've been told K's and HRs are the way to go. Nobody cares about batting average anymore just as pitcher W/L record means nothing. In another lost season let Elko mash or fail. This idea you can wreck a player by rushing him is a cliche that is not true. Uh, Bobby Witt? He hit .254 in 2022 with 135 K's in 150 games. He had a .294 OBP. The next year he upped his homers from 20 to 30. Again he was not ruined by them rushing him at age 22. Elko is 26 for gosh sakes. Bring him up and don't treat him like u did Colas.
  17. Not trying to argue here but in modern statnikdom, isn't a hitter supposed to hit a HR or K? For most value? He was hitting HRs.
  18. Better team won tonight. Just a normal L.
  19. Sell him as Sheets II. Once he gets away he can reach his potential.
  20. I'm so happy for Sheets. Can only imagine what it's like to play for a bottom 2-3 organization in MLB. That's why I want Vaughn traded. He seems like another good guy, like Sheets. Would love to see Vaughn go somewhere and rake. I find it hard to believe it's been years since we've had a really good team on paper. Before the first tank job we were consistently a team that on paper had a chance. we were a team with real major league players. Now I'm in love with Beni and somebody on here yesterday showed me his stats reek as well. In conclusion ... Jerry, order the trade of Vaughn. Give him a chance like Sheets to excel somewhere and make some cash.
  21. Sheets has 10 homers and 31 RBI's. Do the same favor to Vaughn. Get him on another team's roster. Sheets might hit 30 homers this year? Laughable we let him go if he does that.
  22. I don't go by new school stats. he hit 20 homers last year and 64 rbi's and won me over. Though I thought he hit better. He only hit .229 yikes. This year I thought he was in the .260 range but it's only .219. 2017, 18 and 21 he was pretty good. I guess if he is under .250 I shouldn't love him too much. I still think he'd be of value to a contender.
  23. Jake Burger is an example of our team's crumminess. Likeable figure, a fan favorite with power. Ah get rid of him, that's the ticket.
  24. I see my guy Beni had a bad game. Three K's. His first really rotten game in a while u gotta admit. Beni-fan is I.
