  1. Is Robert the most overrated player in Sox history? He's still just 27 so I guess he has the statlovers drooling that he still has 4 seasons to rake before he's worthless and over the hill cause of age. How could any team justify paying Mr. K a ton of money?
  2. I hate when teams do this. It can't help a prospect when he's stuck in the pasture of LF when he has no outfielder instincts at all. As much as rabid fans talk about not "rushing" a guy, a team has the audacity to bring a guy up and play him where he'll be scared and have embarrassing results.
  3. Even though I confessed the other day it doesn't hurt to lose any more since I'm so used to it, there's really no harm in rooting for wins. You don't even get the No. 1 pick assured when you have a team as bad as the Sox were last year. Especially early in the season when the Sox are not mathematically buried a win is rather nice, especially at home where the loyal fans paid good money.
  4. Meidroth is tremendous no doubt, but it is nationally embarrassing that the Sox refuse to keep good things (phenoms like Crochet). Sad that a big city team operates like it is broke. Love me some Meidroth obviously. Would rather have Crochet though as he is truly special. Embarrassing loss today because of the near no-no.
  5. I think it's pretty obvious the Sox have improved their defense from last year and have learned how to be mediocre to good in Rate Field. Our division sucks this year so it's kind of sad the Sox didn't try to make a few more acquisitions that could have gotten us to .500 and contention in our division. At any rate, this Sox team is proving managers do matter. This team is capable of contention in the Central once we bring up a few more guys as we did with Meidroth.
  6. Obviously Meidroth should have started the season with the team. Maybe we wouldn't be 3-10. Good call, Sox.
  7. Maybe the Sox will be a good home team this year and ultimately learn how to play on the road. This team seems better than last year's. Meidroth has a chance to be a hero with the fans after tonight. His AAA manager had all those great things to say about him in the video. He could be special.
  8. Meidroth and Martin. The M and M boys of summer on the southside.
  9. Why are people so mean in the message board world and social media world? Why not be helpful at all times?
  10. Is Meidroth somebody I should expect to excel? Is he somebody I should be rooting for?
  11. Please, please please ... if you go to the game tonight tell us how many fans really are there and please tell us the percentage of fans are Red Sox fans. I'd say crowd of 19,000 and 12,000 are Bosox fans.
  12. Bear with a frustrated greg ... thanks You know what's very odd about the Sox ineptitude? Can you think of another business in which the business had its worst year in history the previous calendar year and yet without any shame trots out a product significantly worse the following calendar year? Why the hell is this accepted as standard procedure in the sports world? Most people with healthy brains would realize getting the No. 10 draft pick means NOTHING if you have to put the worst product ever on the field to get it. Again, management, the on field leadership sees nothing odd about being this rotten with the payoff to come in 3-4 years. Most businesses realize if you are that bad for that long, you are out of business in 3-4 years. Very very sad sports teams can get away with this. You know, with a team this bad for this long an extended period, a GOOD business would seek out in its records its MOST LOYAL customers and shower them with free stuff (concessions, free tickets, free parking at the least) to reward them for supporting this unsupportable crud of a team.
  13. Where's Tommy Pham when you need him? Who picked him up? Any way we could find Viciedo? Where is he? How bout Abreu? Where's he playing? It'd be interesting to at least employ Abreu. Hosmer still isn't 40. Sign him up. Also Moustakas isn't 40. Just put some name players out there to fail instead of our current stiffs. And Magrigal. Sign him too for minimum. ... Why is Robert doing so poorly. That's kind of embarrassing he's no good apparently.
  14. There's no question this lineup is actually worse than last year's. If Beni's not healthy and we get only single digit homers from him and Vaughn only hits 15ish homers certainly this team will have less HR power than any team in Sox annals.
  15. Good post. As some long timers on here know, I used to freak out on a daily basis if and when we lost the game, any game. Even meaningless September games. i wanted ALL wins. Now (it's not my fault, it's Jerry's conditioning me this way) I expect to lose every single game, kind of in some weird way want to lose every single game. It's strange psychology but I'm thinking after an organization/team finally loses a person (the person is convinced the organization is utter trash and has no ability to turn things around) the brain expects defeat and welcomes defeat. Weird I know but I can't be the only longtime Sox fan who is so jaded he/she kind of likes when we lose now.
  16. Aside from last year is this the Sox worst start in history? It's tough to lose this many games in April. Usually it takes a bit for bad teams' record to become rotten.
  17. I also would have loved to have Candelaria. At least he's interesting. I want Burger, Candelaria and VIciedo and that other fan favorite guy, Colas, in my lineup. Why not?
  18. That's what greg was saying last year. At least contract our team. We then could get a new team in Chicago under new owners. There should be contraction. We are not trying to win in the (once) greatest city in the world. With our gorgeous hats and cool jersey tops we would be THE team in Chicago if we tried to field a winning team. The Cubs have stunk since their one great year. The city is there for the taking for the Sox and their trendy beautiful hats and jerseys. Nobody wants to wear Cubby bear jerseys and hats. The Sox should have owned Chicago starting in 2006. Instead .... Please contract the White Sox. End this misery.
  19. Ptatc: Serious question. If you worked for the Sox and were in the dugout would you have demanded our new skipper pinch run for him in the 9th? Knowing his injury, etc? This is malpractice IMO of the White Sox.
  20. This is the post of the year. Seriously ... how could there not be a pinch runner unless we were actively trying to lose again. How could there not be a pinch runner? Tauchmann should be incensed.
  21. I can't wait to see the replay? I don't get the games this year.
  22. Is Tauchman the answer? He's hitting .400.
  23. what happened guys? Boy we stink. Did somebody pull a Dybber on the basepaths?
  24. Has Detroit been totally rebuilt? I never knew it was a nirvana-ish town.
