Luis Robert needs some tough love. Can u imagine Lasorda working with this guy? Isn't Robert sick of hitting below .200? It should be embarrassing that he doesn't even get two hits every 10 at bats. Why in the green earth would an MLB team want to trade for Robert? Granted he's fluid in center field on defense. But he has to be one of the worst hitters BA wise in Sox history for a regular. Get some pride, Robert. You should be able to hit .250 in your sleep. You are at what, .186?

We're 0-7 vs. the Cubs and Royals. So the team blows against the Cubs of the NL and all Central teams in the AL. I'm not saying the team is that bad this year compared to last.

Elko needs at bats and a lot of 'em at the MLB level. Vaughn needs a change of scenery. I need to check and see how Sheets is doing after his fast start.

It's totally tanking as their way of rebuilding. The organization's only obvious "plan" is to have a few stars, trade them when they get close to making some real cash and acquire some kids who one year will all click at the same time while under cost control and grab us a trophy.

I'm not one of 'em. You should follow greg's posts closely cause tanking/rebuilding to me is un-sportsmanlike, against all tenets of sports and America, really. p.s. Not trolling. Every one of those guys I mentioned except Robert and Vaughn can hit and those two need to hit. The lineup is not that bad. Last year with DeJong and Co. it was lousy.

Nor will the city of Chicago voters build 'em a new park. So will they be forced to move? Actually the Cell is a fine ballpark, though dull. And it's relatively new in terms of ballparks. Keep that one if no taxpayer is gonna pay.

The citizens aren't going to pay squat in taxes for the Sox or Bears. From what I read Chicago and Illinois taxes are so out of control. Nobody's gonna vote to help out billionaire owners. If they wanna stay in Chicago they need to pay up. They won't, so AH is gonna get both teams with sweetheart deals IMO.

With Meidroth, Elko, Quero to go with Vaughn and Robert who are underachieving? Beni's absence hurts a lot. But with Beni and those guys? Our offense is decent IMO.

I agree the Cubs have the better team. But our lineup I think is better than our pitching. With Meidroth, Elko and Quero to go with Vaughn and Robert that's not bad if Beni was healthy. Our lineup is not that bad. I like our pitching coach. He's gotten pretty good results out of a bunch of stiffs. I think we've just run into a much better team than the Cubs. If we win Sunday that's pretty good to take 1 of 3 in their ballpark IMO.

Very good point. Why can't Robert bust loose and hit .320, not .190?

Isn't it amazing how the Sox usually score early in games? Aside from that, today's game was sort of a bummer. Cubs pretty much boatraced the Sox. Would be nice to get game three and avoid a 3 game losing streak out of nowhere.

I'm the one who said yesterday get Elko in the lineup. Fireable offense if he doesn't start every day (cept for the occasional day off) the rest of the way. Boom.

If the Bears move out there I betcha the Sox follow suit. It will be a glorious district for baseball/football. Kind of a hassle getting out there. I never liked that drive from western suburbs to O'Hare or the horse track. Scary drive.

What do you mean? Batting average? Who cares about that outdated stat? He looks good in CF and strikes out a lot. Increase his contact lift and pull rate a bit and he'll be fine. He's got the K's part down now he just has to elevate more.

I guess I'd prefer a public apology or dressing down from the commissioner reprimanding the Sox at least the day they do trade Robert and any other of our future stars like Quero and Elko.

Lip are you as appalled as me with the teams that refuse to attempt to compete? Reinsdorf should invest his money in other areas if he refuses to compete in MLB. Sell the team and invest in other areas.

Not me. There's something to be said about his value now in entertaining the hard paying fans who go to games. What's wrong with paying him good money for the joy he can bring NOW? At Rate Field NOW??? We should be outraged we have to talk about money so much with Jerry's team. Pay the man and let the fans have some fun on summer nights 2025 instead of being zombies wondering why they paid to attend a Sox game. Pay and play baby! And be outraged at Jerry 24/7. The fans pay good money; management should pay some money as well to assure fans some FUN. Why is my position so outrageous to some? It's not our money to pay Robert. It's cheap Jerry's responsibility to pay a few guys so we can win.

There should be Luka-like outrage if what you say happens. You are saying basically the Sox don't deserve to have a team in MLB. Cause their goal is not entertaining the fans (Robert's catches and occasional bombs) and it certainly isn't winning/contending. This is not what sports are about. I enjoyed your post. It was informative for me, thank u. But this franchise? If its goal is to do the things you said in your post, shame on them and shame on baseball for allowing this to happen. And thanks for saving me my 100 bucks. I will not renew mlb.com just yet after reading that.

I meant Caulfield when will the "tankers" outwardly embrace having a star player to root for 10-15 years again like the old days (cough, Buehrle, cough) and Fisk and Baines and Durham and Robin and Ozzie, etc. I want continuity and not archaic tank stuff which does not work.
