  1. I'll still be surprised if Sox don't at least split this series, at least. There's no way the Royals can get emotionally up playing this Sox team and it will show since we have 3-6 decent players this year compared to last year when we had none cept for Robert when he was healthy. It's almost impossible to respect the opponent when the opponent is the 2025 Sox. They won't respect the 3-6 players I mentioned, hence victory is attainable IMO. The question is ... will any of you bet the house on the Chisox?
  2. The fact we have to trade Robert is what I so hate about MLB. Sox can't afford to pay him the going rate so he must be dealt for 3-4 saviors who soon enough will be unaffordable themselves. The fact baseball allows just a few teams to buy all the great players is sooo disgusting (to me). Others accept it, love it, love the unknown players we're going to receive in the name of tanking/rebuilding. Lip I know you will just say that's life with Jerry as our owner, but Lip, even you may admit this is a disgusting sport to follow for the reasons I've suggested here. Yes I wanted Sale to stay, Crochet to stay, Cease, Robert. All this inequity and still baseball has a gazillion fans. Sad.
  3. Very surprised the Sox stunk tonight. Thought we'd win. No bats at all. Now I'm a bit worried about the Royals pitchers stifling us all four games considering KC has five shutouts in last 10 games I heard on radio.
  4. As long as the team is doing well, I say give him some time. He'll hit some homers as the weather gets hot.
  5. No more KC beatdowns, baby. Hopefully our manager reminds the guys we've been owned by KC. Sick Quero and Meidroth on them and pitch away from Massey who is a Sox killer. Game One goes to the Sox. Then it'll be a competitive game two.
  6. Agreed. Not only that but greg guarantees you this club isn't historically bad. Only way I eat my words is if suddenly the pitching turns to batting practice meat. It seems whoever is our pitching coach is doing a fine job and our new manager has a good handle on what to expect from each pitcher.
  7. No on Vaughn leaving team. Summer is coming and he's gonna heat up IMO. He has a track record of at least hitting some summer time homers. He needs to be reminded to lift and pull better.
  8. Where the heck did Sox get this Quero guy? Sensational. Can u imagine how good Sox are gonna be when Elko gets called up? The Royals won't know what hit them in this upcoming series for the Sox are back. Prediction: Bet the house on Sox in game one of the series. Also I predict late in game one or game two there will be a bench clearing brawl. Officially your White Sox are back.
  9. That's what I was trying to say. Last year with that old guy at shortstop and Moncada at third and those lousy catchers, etc, it was a wretched team. This team I see some players who look good like u said. On the abysmal scale the only part of the team that concerns me might be the pitching staff full of no names and average guys at best. However, our manager is doing a nice job of when to insert them and yanke them out of games. As much as I hate watching the parade of pitchers and I still don't watch as I have no mlb.com anymore, it is keeping us in games. The Sox have risen with the new manager and Getz.
  10. All true. However now that he's emerging it would serve as total buzzkill, another symbol of our inept organization. What it tells normal fans in other cities and most Sox fans in chicago: "The White Sox have one incredible player. As soon as he blossomed in a Chicago uniform, the White Sox dumped him for 3 prospects who are can't miss. The White Sox don't want good players is the lesson here. They want perpetual prospects to save $$s."
  11. I will be sad if Sox trade Robert. He's young enough to be a cornerstone, especially in CF. Except for the statlovers/rebuilding lovers the trading of Robert will be so depressing for our fanbase. Robert is fun to watch. Why can't fans be given some ballplayers actually fun to watch? Trading him will be an all time buzzkill.
  12. Folks I have to say the Sox have improved a ton. Some of these young hitters are hitterish. Look when Quero plays with Meidroth those are two guys who can hit out of 9. Beni is good. Robert now is finally emerging as a stud. The defense is dandy. The pitching which I figured would be torched nightly is the team weakness but doing pretty good. The White Sox have risen folks. No need monitoring all time losses any more. This team is getting close to decent. Look at how many games the Sox have scored in early compared to last year. Hate to say it or maybe somebody will be proud to say it: Getz and his revamped coaching staff and front office staff may be in Chicago a long, long time. They appear to have a clue.
  13. Meidroth appears to be the real deal. Bring up Elko while the Sox are sizzling for gosh sakes. Elko's presence might finally wake up Vaughn. The Sox passed rock bottom a long time ago it appears. The new manager obviously is way better than what we've had.
  14. I think the Sox are going to win way more games than last year. When you are as bad as the Sox have been, the opponents just can't get up for us. Instead of sweeping the Sox, they win 2 of 3 or 3 of 4. Eventually Sox are gonna start winning some series maybe even sweep a couple. Again, when you are this bad over a period of time, the opponent just can't get up for you. Nice win today. Getting Meidroth back helps our lineup and Robert is starting to emerge. Is Burke for real? Nice win.
  15. Little surprised we dropped the first two vs. the Brewers. Sox have been OK at home.
  16. Glad to see Bill mentioned. He still lives in Lawrence, Ks. He even lived here most of the time during that multi-year stretch he had with the Red Sox. ... I will never forget Bill in his yearly Baseball Abstract (in which he rated and had a comment about every player in the game which was neat) said flat out the cliche that a slugger needed someone to "protect" him in the order was bunk. Let's say Big Hurt batted fourth. According to cliche, it was vital that Hurt had a stellar hitter batting fifth in the order so in theory the pitcher would have to pitch to Frank out of fear of facing the strong No. 5 hitter who was protecting Hurt because of that player's status as a studly hitter. James said it made no difference at all and throughout life I've gotten in many arguments arguing the point.
  17. So our favorites have lost three in a row and four of five. Not good. Just studying the box score seemed like that was a very dull game. Was it? We did get 10 hits. Should win on nights we get 10 hits; won't happen too often.
  18. Young kids with great ability in 2-3 sports should not pick baseball. For hitters, the lift and pull b.s. ruins them. The old days being able to hit line shots to all fields was way good enough. Not now. Lift and pull baby and if you whiff it's OK. Pitching? We all know what happens to pitchers now. 1-900-callthesurgeonnow.
  19. Trade the poor kid. Let a real organization help him re-start his pro career. For the Sox to make this move, he's definitely hit rock bottom with the inept organization. Somebody will take him for 2 average prospects.
  20. Yeah before long every pitcher will go 1-2 innings max. More boring baseball as the pitcher will have an amazing fastball to go with the sweeper/slider as the out pitch. Lot more lefty/righty matchup b.s.
  21. Could an opener start two or three games in a row in a playoff series? If he works just one inning? I wonder if we'll ever get to that point.
  22. I see. Thanks ... Interesting we have a smart manager who thinks of such things. Even my guy, Ozzie, wouldn't mess with such minutia. I like it. To Lip ... I haven't watched any games. Are they deathly boring compared to even last year cause of the 3-run stat you've mentioned?
  23. Two tough losses in the three game series. Does the fact the Sox have gone to openers mean the Sox starters are historically bad and can only go 3 max?
  24. Frustrating. Maybe we'll at least spend as much as KC and Minnie.
  25. At some point he's gonna be as beloved as Salvy in KC. So the new owners will keep him IMO. Jerry's family can't hold onto this team forever.
