  1. I realize the team could go in the tank in the postseason but I'd almost rather keep the young guys like Sheets and Burger. I mean Eloys's coming soon. That's a huge addition to the lineup. It'd really be buzzkill at this point to trade one of the young guys who can sting the ball. And yes I realize a veteran bat probably would help the team in the postseason. This is kind of fun, though, watching some of the young hitters.
  2. Great shot of Tony hugging Sheets on the final replay of the night. Sheets is the man of the hour.
  3. Holy bleep. That was one of the best at bats in recent Sox history. BAM. A no doubter HR. Congrats to Sox n Sheets.
  4. I think you are over-reacting to my response to his post about not caring about whether or not it came from a lab. I think it's important to know cause this all might have been intentional by our enemies. Yes China is our enemy for many reasons but most because of their brutal treatment of their own. In answer to your question. Yes I would hope I would have the guts to enlist rather than wait for what I feel would happen."
  5. My contention is a.) let's see what the 12 people are posting. I don't think any of their statements should be taken off FB or Twitter because all opinions about this unknown vaccine could wind up being true. We.Don't.Know.For.Sure. Now if some wacko is saying, "I am 100 percent sure there are devices in the vaccine meant to track your movements the rest of your life," or "I 100 percent will tell you the vaccine will shut down your organs within two years," I guess I might go for those sentences to be banned. I said "might." I do think most Americans don;'t need that, however, they can read it and determine for themselves that person is a wacko. A post that says "my concern is vaccines will shut down my organs within a year or two," or "my concern is the vaccine has a honing device in it that will let Big Brother control my movements," I 100 percent am in favor of allowing this type of speech. Without freedom, we are nothing. I feel anybody trying to take away our freedom of speech is wrong, wrong wrong. That is my opinion. I am not trying to convince anybody to join me on this.
  6. Holy cow. You are not worried about our enemies? You are not worried about possible germ warfare down the line? If so, fine. I am worried about such.
  7. Wrong (with all due respect). This is a free country. Let's see what those 12 people are saying. My guess is it's nothing worth banning and violating the precepts of free speech. This vaccine stuff is very complicate and NOBODY KNOWS what some of the repercussions of getting vaccinated might be down the road. This is unacceptable if the government is trying to censor people through big business. That's a police state, a communist state and communism is horrific no matter what some people say.
  8. Great memories. Mine from 115th st. Little League in Mt. Greenwood. Played for the Bears. Have so many memories. I will say back in the day little kids played baseball every day and coaches could put some great 10 to 12 year old Little League teams on the field. For instance, our team rarely made errors. I mean we little guys caught everything hit to us. The memory I'd like to share is way back in the day our coaches, two old guys named Mr. Keough and Charlie Keough, got us kids together at a practice before the first game and said, "Look. We have a rule. When you are 12, your third year with the team, you play the whole game, every game. But ages 10 and 11 we play the best players. You might play a lot; you might play a little. Just remember at 12 if you are still here you play the whole game.'' He said, our other option is he could play everybody the same amount if that's what we want. If we do that, Mr. Keough told us, we will lose almost all our games. If we do it his way he said, "We will probably win the title or come close. What do you want to do?" Each kid agreed we wanted to play the best kids and win, which we did. Not the whole thing but made the world series 1 of my 3 years and playoff championship series one of my three years. The other year we were good but didn't advance. My point? To heck with this new generation of playing all kids the same amount. Let the best kids play, try to have as many practices as you can find fields for, and make sure the best kids are playing. I'd never trade the memories of winning baseball. One team in our league played everybody the same amount and they didn't win a game. Oh and when I was 10, my role was play 3B when the 3B/pitcher we had pitched. I even got to play one of the World Series games cause he pitched. Other times I sat the bench awaiting my turn at 11 and 12 when I started and played the whole game. Fun memories.
  9. A betting person would not like the odds of the Olympics going off without a lot of problems re. Covid. a.) That part of the world has a lot of COVID cases. b.) The Olympic Village will be full of people from all over in close proximity to each other. Maybe the fact there will be no fans will negate all the signs of a COVID-ridden Olympics. https://sports.yahoo.com/first-positive-covid-tests-athletes-035539672.html
  10. If Burger makes it, whichever scout pushed for him deserves a big raise. I thought he'd be a huge bust. Hoping he can stay hitterish. That HR tonight was crushed and he's hitting .400 (knock on wood).
  11. Great win. Back to the winning formula. HRs and pitching. Utter domination I mean. Love to see Burger and Collins connect and Sheets, Abreu and Tim A. Return of south side hit men tonight.
  12. Would be nice to beat Houston. For a team with a sensational record, Sox do lose to the Stros a lot. Of course injuries make all statements need a caveat. Sox have been so banged up.
  13. If you keep an open mind about media corruption and Big Brother, etc., there is a fun exercise I partake in. I read CNN and FOX websites daily to compare what they are covering and what they think is newsworthy. It's pretty humorous. When I do read a story my pet peeve is how they throw opinion in the stories without the designation that the story is "opinion" or a "column." Sickening at the bias shown in sentences written in these "news stories." But try it, it's funny to see. An example would be FOX with a huge piece on Hunter Biden and CNN nothing on the story. ... Or CNN going after Trump for something new and Fox having nothing. ... Or Fox attacking Psaki for her Big Brother is good statement and CNN having nothing. it's a wild exercise to conduct.
  14. 1. I am trying to abide by board rules and not get suspended. In the past when I get specific, it riles people up who disagree with me and I got accused of trolling and inciting and ultimately it leads to my suspension. My position differs from "most" people on the board so I feel I need to be extra cognizant of the rules so I don't get suspended. 2. Man I hope not. 3. That's' a good question. That's where some "misinformation" maybe could be rectified through ads, not Big Brother censorship. Perhaps some people who got the first shot really fear No. 2. That's the one that caused a lot of problems (albeit just for 2-5 days) for some friends of mine. I do know some people "afraid" to take dose 2. they truly think that down the line they will pay for it with blood clots, and other nasty symptoms. And yes they think the government and media are supressing info on problems people have had after getting vaxxed. Peace.
  15. Yes harm is being done if the government is flagging posts for review. The government IMO has no right to comment on social media posts of citizens. I do not want Big Brother reading our facebook posts and tweets at all. Like I said before, many months ago, they would remove tweets about the virus being started in a lab. What is misinformation anyway? If somebody writes "Do not get vaxxed because down the line you could have medical problems caused by the vax" that probably would be flagged. It should not be flagged. It's somebody's opinion. Free speech, baby. How can we get more people vaxxed? I would do a little bit of what they are doing now. Free commercial time for athletes and famous young people and regular people, too, imploring folks to get vaccinated so we can get rid of COVID once and for all. Just flood the airwaves with free ads. But DO NOT spy on people and do creepy things. An ad campaign has to be done to offset the fear people have of politicians in all this. Joe saying they'll go door to door and Kamala just saying "get vaccinated" on Twitter does not help. We need to kill the skeptical with kindness and beg them to get vaxxed for the good of all.
  16. I would agree. Personally I'd amend this to say only the corporations and politicians of the majority party are winning.
  17. Right now, many Americans despise each other. It's the way it is. Did you see that post from the leader of an organization that will go unnamed that in discussing the opposite side of the issue she was commenting on wrote "Let them die" on Twitter. I also read there is a growing percentage of Americans up for succession now because of hatred of the "other side." Whereas my decision to get vaxxed was for other people more than myself ... there are not that many people who think that way. Hate is rampant and I have my theories but again I will not comment on them on this board. I wish you and your family well Badger. Peace.
  18. If this is too political please kill. I consider it important to a COVID discussion. I am concerned that the government in conjunction with a private company is 'flagging' posts of misinformation regarding the pandemic. Who decides if it's misinformation?? I seem to recall when one was banned for suggesting COVID was created in a lab. Now it's a viable possibility. https://www.foxnews.com/media/critics-slam-psaki-white-houseconsulting-facebook-flag-misinformation
  19. Why they kept the announcers at home is an outrage. Nobody's been concerned about covid for weeks. Typical baseball paying players exorbitant salaries and nickle and diming other departments. Outrageous. Glad they will be on the road.
  20. I've been reading some stuff (I need to stop) and you are right. Covid concern is over with. It makes you wonder why we had ANY shutdowns to begin with considering the current way of tackling this problem is 100 percent different from April of 2020 on. I was reading the Big 12 commissioner said any cancellations this year cause of Covid will be forfeits, not makeups. Also stadiums are already full. Vegas had 60,000 for Garth Brooks. You don't see a mask anywhere. It's pretty obvious we're done with Covid no matter the future outbreaks. Makes you wonder again why we EVER had restrictions. The plan now appears to be herd immunity and really it's silly to think any restrictions were in place before at all. We've gone from Covid mania and paranoia (politics, cough cough) to absolutely no chance of lockdowns or anything like that coming in the future. Remember when you couldn't get a roll of toilet paper? Remember when greg couldn't get a haircut for 3.5 months? all the concern? As far as I can tell and see it's gone. Again ... you never see a mask anymore except in the lingering states where roughneck dictatorial politicians still can't give up all the power (like ordering kids to wear masks in class this fall). This is all so poorly handled and absurd. Meanwhile let's fight each other some more as China and Russia laugh at America softening itself up for future conflicts by hating itself so. much. Anybody agree with greg for once? Peace out.
  21. I feel I need to point this out since I sympathize with anti vaxxers and understand their position.
  22. Folks, why is Badke stepping down after next season, his 10th at BR? I personally think he did a fine to excellent job worthy of a solid A grade. And does anybody think the new coach can beat the Marists, Mt. Carmels and Loyolas of the word, even the Ritas?
  23. That's good enough for me. I think except for the DUI stuff (which is awful) which has nothing to do with baseball, and the Mercedes controversy which does have a lot to do with baseball, we should agree the Sox have a perfect fit as manager. Like Stone said in his tweet, all managers are imperfect. This LaRussa guy may be destined to win 2-3 WS with his original team. If somehow Sox catch fire in playoffs 2 of the next 3 or 4 years and Sox win two titles, Tony would be regarded as a Top Three manager of all time.
  24. I appreciate the kind words from several posters that feel good that I got vaxxed twice via. Moderna. Thank u.
  25. Thanks for the post. I'm glad I got vaxxed and hope I feel that way forever.
