  1. Tony has to feel guilty. When he called out Yermin for the HR, Yermin was still hitting like Babe Ruth, right? The Yermin that blasted the home run off the 40 mph pitch is not the Yermin we see today.
  2. Nice win; is there anywhere I can get the Ozzie postgame in Kansas? I've never seen it. My mlb.com turns off after the final out.
  3. I'm OK with trotting him out there back to LF. I just am concerned about his injuries. I would think one more injury caused by his play in LF will be the end of him out there. Maybe I'm wrong. I guess he could improve. Jose for instance has become a pretty good defensive first baseman.
  4. Ever notice since we got the new hitting coach how many pitches the Sox take? I'm OK with it as the team usually hits pretty well. But I've been a Sox fan a long time and can't remember hitters ever being this patient. I know it's modern baseball to either HR or K or BB but is our new hitting coach the reason that the Sox have hopped aboard this style of hitting?
  5. Remember when he couldn't make an out if he tried? Confusing. Poor guy must really be confused.
  6. It's pretty hard to hit .150. I guess he's OK with it since his walks are out of this world. I'd say it's possible maybe even likely he hits .210 before it's over though.
  7. It's Eloy's fault if he's DH. He keeps getting hurt. Maybe they'll give him one more chance out there but it's ridiculous to keep having him get hurt out there. Now that Yermin is human, I'd simply have Eloy be DH and Yermin back him up. I'm all for Eloy playing LF, but again, he seems to be injury prone out there.
  8. Mercedes isn't going to bring anything right now. He's been as bad as he was good for six weeks. No need to trade Vaughn. He's a good hitter. He just needs a little bit more experience maybe. If you were Tony would you DH Collins now instead of Yermin, let's say for the next 3-4 weeks? Give it a shot. Or at least platoon them at DH.
  9. He's another Darren Erstad.
  10. Ugh. Tough loss. Too many injuries.
  11. I don't blame Tony for this. However devil's advocate would say Yermin has hit about .150 since the Tony incident right? Seems like if you are a Sox fan there's been a lot of stuff like that happen thru the years.
  12. I never thought Yermin would slump this bad the way he attacked the ball all April. Baseball is such an unpredictable game. I know he couldn't hit .480 all year but he so effortlessly found holes and pounded the ball. Wonder if he'll get it back.
  13. I keep thinking about Eloy and have come to the conclusion he can only be a DH. He's just gonna get hurt out there. You know what this means? We must trade Yermin. Too many DH types on the team. Eloy can't move to 1B cause Jose has a few good years left. Maybe just maybe Sox could move Eloy to RF and have Jermaine Dye talk to him on how to play the position and not hurt yourself. (I realize Dye was no phenom defensively). Anyhow just the thought of Eloy back in LF concerns me. I love his bat, though.
  14. It's so unusual to see a pitcher work fast anymore especially a reliever. Last night I had a couple different things called up on my puter including mlb.com Sox game. Bummer was working a bit faster than a snail's pace and it shocked me to have to click on the Sox screen a little quicker than normal to catch every pitch. I can only watch Sox games cause I'm addicted to the Sox for life. I won't watch any other baseball game for even an inning cause (for me) it's so boring now. Sox games still interest me greatly though even with the snail's pace.
  15. Way to stay down on it, Mendick.
  16. Bummer baby, gaining confidence.
  17. I'd like a K vs. this lefty.
  18. Cmon Bummer. He's looking better, folks.
  19. Bummer had good stuff on that hitter. K.
  20. Bummer annoys me at times.
  21. 2:43 is acceptable. 2:30 should be the maximum time it takes to play a baseball game with way more 2:20 games than 4 hours plus. Four hours to play a nine inning game is disgraceful.
  22. I agree. Leury is a regular and can hit .280 with some game-winning hits tossed in there. Sox actually can survive this one. Sox are close to done, though if they have any more key injuries. They can't survive losses to Jose, Moncada, Timmy or Hendriks. Maybe even Grandal.
  23. Love our closer. Wow he's into the team winning. ...Sox have had some good closers. Hendriks is another. I applaud his work and his personality. Regarding your last point, people think we are outdated crabby fans, but baseball is about dead because of the length of games. The slow pace has killed the young generation of fans. Right now all baseball has going for it to the youth is the bat flip after a bomb. My solution is to fire all umps and start over with the rulebook and make the umps enforce the rules and be proud of the pace of their games. Current umps hate baseball, pure and simple. Their union has done a nice job getting them a good check.
  24. I respect Madrigal's all-out hustle on the play in which he got hurt. The Sox really truly do hustle. My question is ... with these amazing bursts of speed out of the batters box and the fact u never know where your stride is going to put your foot on first base ... I was wondering if perhaps the Sox need a new training staff. We have so many injuries I think I'd put the Sox through the most strenuous stretching regimen of any team in any sport on game day. Just a thought.
  25. Nice win. Good job winning the series.
