Former Sox updates (Avi, etc)
Did you take debate in school or something? I need to learn my lesson and not respond to you. You always have some sort of quick line that in your mind wins the argument and in reality, probably does win the argument. As much as people say I don't read others' replies, nobody reads mine. My reply here and in the Abreu thread are full of well thought out comments but nobody responds to that cept in quick one liners. In response to your one liner ... I don't see how anybody could read this board and not realize there simply are haters (of Avi and Jose) and nothing will ever change their minds. I on the other hand could be called a worshiper of those two; but to suggest there's something wrong in me calling out 'haters' of those two is misguided IMO.

A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron
Manny has two stolen bases so he has no interest in that department anymore. Defense? Yeah, I'm not hearing Manny is any Brooks Robinson but obviously he's better than Jose. But for the $$$s? I'd think the Sox who don't like to pay, are getting their $$$s worth and then some with Jose's production.

A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron
As much hate as there is on Abreu, he arguably has been as productive as Machado this season at 1/gazilion the cost. Manny in 288 at bats has 16 homers and 47 RBIs. Abreu in 302 at bats has 55 RBI and 18 homers. Now comes the bad news in OBP, Jose is .298 with an OPS of .798 and slugging percentage of .500 and heaven forbid a war of 0.6. His BA is .258. He has 17 walks on a team that often flails away simply because the team blows and it has to be difficult to do the little things when we've been tanking as a team for some time now. Meanwhile Manny has 32 bases on balls to Jose's 17. Thus Manny is at .278 BA with OBP of .354, slugging of .493 and OPS of .847. But stop the presses Manny's war is 2.1 by gosh to Jose's 0.6. The majority of baseball announcers would look at the simple BA, HR, RBI categories and conclude Jose has been just as productive as Manny this season. The advanced statters (watch baseball games, they still flash BA, HR AND RBI ON THE SCREEN and announcers talk about these figures!) I guess would say Manny is having a WAY better season than Jose. My point is ... to the average fan it seems Jose is as good or better than Manny in production this season. Are those 20 walks THAT IMPORTANT? Jose faring about as well as moneybags Manny? How can that be??

Former Sox updates (Avi, etc)
From what I've read from fans on here I think their problem with Avi is ... a.) one year he admitted he didn't work hard enough in the offseason and reported out of shape; b.) he pulls hammies a lot and c.) he's considered a buffoon defensively. I think all 3 of those things are reasonable takes/concerns. The advanced stat people also can find many examples of him reeking I guess. I would argue the three issues are not that big a deal if you are a fan of him and happen to like him. 1.) I guess it's awful to be out of shape if you are a paid professional baseball player but I can forgive him for that. Not every ballplayer is perfect even though to some, reporting out of shape is an unforgiveable offense. 2.) Injuries happen unfortunately. I think he's worth the gamble despite the hammy issues; others don't. 3.) The Sox seem to traditionally suck on defense. I personally don't think he's that bad. The fun has left baseball. One of the reasons I worship Avi is some of the big games he had and big bombs he hit. That year he hit .320 he was smashing the ball DEEP. All that said, the Avi hatred on here sometimes seems vicious almost as if he was some demon trying to earn a living bashing baseballs for a team he admittedly loved playing for. As much as fans despise Sale for cutting the uniforms and Ozzie for quitting on the team, it seems to me Avi would be rather likeable since all he did was express joy in playing for the Sox. But in the day and age of advanced stats, there's little room for liking a player just because. Avi blows, the stats indicate even though he's a fun player to watch play what in some respects has become a dull sport. I will conclude this report by saying ... Me.Likey.Avi.

Former Sox updates (Avi, etc)
LOL. This is a thread about former Sox. I guess positive comments bout Avi and Tatis are bothersome in such a thread.

Former Sox updates (Avi, etc)
Avi still doing well; Tatis is on fire. The hatred of Avi on here in retrospect sickens me even more.

We need Ozzie right now more than ever

Jon Jay reinstated
All you need to know about Jon Jay is most of the posts in this thread named after him are not about him, nyuk nyuk. Mr. Jay should be nicknamed "Mr. Irrelevant." p.s. I have nothing against the man; he's supposed to be a nice guy. I just see no need for him on the south side since we never signed his pal. Trade him to San Diego or Tampa for a couple thousand bucks that JR can gift to his grandkids on trips to the lake this summer.

Sox @ Boston, 6:10
Should greg just ignore these type of comments that make my blood boil? Probably would be smart.

Sox @ Boston, 6:10
You guys dismiss my theory, but my take is sometimes these players aren't 100 percent sharp playing for a non contender. I mean they are used to losing and on that play Anderson half assed it with a ridiculous throw to first. He made the dumb decision to steal third the other night. My take is that it was pretty obvious the Sox were going to lose once it went in extras and some of these guys are not sharp mentally cause they are so used to losing. It's one of the perils of tank/rebuild. Some of the key pieces get used to losing and playing in situations that really matter not.

Sox @ Boston, 6:10
I'd imagine the win probability for the Chicago White Sox on June 24 is not real high right now.

A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron
Again why is it insanity? Not saying you but there are so many posters on here the last 10 years trying to save Jerry a few pennies here and there. My long post just got ignored. He's been one of our best hitters year after year. I don't know why he has to be discussed over and over as somebody to get rid of.

A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron
Why do you despise one of our better hitters so much? Again, he is an actual worthy big leaguer. We've had so many hitters on this team this year and past several years who are not big league hitters. Why pick on one of our best players? Do you want we Jose lovers to admit he's not Pujols in his prime? Of course I'll admit it. Jose is not overpaid by any means. He has been one of our better hitters his entire stay in Chicago. Is your beef you'd rather save the money he gets and give it to some other free agent? Yonder Alonso isn't exactly tearing it up. All Jose does is play the game the right way. He's not some mega superstar, fine. You win. He is again ... ONE OF OUR BEST PLAYERS. He put together a fine little career. That means nothing I guess. Again ... are you out to save jerry a few bucks? Uh, I don't think Jerry needs your help when he threw money out the window when he signed Jay and Alonso. Nobody needs the money; Jose takes a good chunk, tries to earn his keep and you hate him. Again WE ADMIT HE"S NOT GOD'S GIFT TO HITTING, NOT DICK ALLEN, NOT RICHIE ZISK ,not the Big Hurt. But he's been one of the top hitters in our lineup for years. And you despise him. It's sick.

A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron
Our lineup would be so bad without Abreu. In your hatred of him do you realize how hard it's been on him for years with such a pathetic lineup and so little protection around here? Do you realize how tough it is to hit year after year when the team blows so badly? Just give Abreu his $$$s and forget about it. Better he get some money than Jerry pocket even more.

Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
This is why guys like Hahn (prior to Eloy's emergence) still has a job. A good majority of fans like losing and tanking. Of course I've changed my opinion on Hahn since it's obvious he got one of the best hitters ever (if he can stay healthy) in Eloy. But tanking is so great for GMs. Gives them year after year of losing with fans not upset. Got to win, baby, as Al Davis said.

Have the White Sox ever started worse pitchers?
Todd Ritchie, Dan Wright, Gary Glover in 2002; Phil Humber, Liriano, Danks, Peavy in 2012.

Sox and Rangers Game #2
Cmon. Don't turn on Collins. He's played 2-3 games for gosh sakes. Remember how bad Robin Ventura was when he first came up? Collins obviously has some talent. He's a catcher. He's not going to hit for average. Hopefully he has some power and draws a lot of walks for the on base percentage fanatics. What has he done to deserve this scorn and fans not believing in him? This is a game, folks, not life and death. Give Collins A Chance, thank u.

GRate to get Netting to the Foul Poles
Bad take. Very bad. Got to have the netting. in this day and age of home run or nothing, the ball is zipping off the bat to where only Superman can survive some of these laser beams!

Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
I do not understand and never will. "Flipping Colome" does nothing for me. He's having a good year. I'd like him to keep saving games for the Sox. I love how modern statpeeps now say the save is a meaningless stats. I guess only WAR really matters right? How un-fun baseball is becoming. And if saves mean nothing why would anybody give up anything for Colome? Tell me his secondary stats that are so tradeably great, I'm sure you will and I'm sure they are there. But no ... I see no reason to trade him so we can add some pieces to our future team. I don't care. I care about winning now and in the future.

And That's a White Sox Extra Inning Winner !!
Collins with the HR; Eloy; Ricky proving he knows baseball. White Sox win.

Job Thread
That sucks. People should be able to go out for lunch and they pretty much can't if the boss is a clock watcher. Again ... how can you pull it off in Chicago. Let's say at 11:58 you go to the restroom amid dirty looks from the boss since you are ripping him off two minutes. Then you leave and are on the downtown street. You see a Subway as today you want something quick. There are 10 people in line. You get your food at 12:25. You gulp it down and return to the office at 12:50. Yay! I made it. Now you want to meet friends at a sit down place. You leave your desk at 11:58 for the bathroom stop. You hit the streets of Chicago at 12. You walk 5 blocks to meet friends at a sitdown place. You have a reservation. The waiter comes by at 12:20. No way in hell u are gonna make it back to work by 1. And if you don't have a reservation, totally forget it. I don't know how you all do it.

Future White Sox Lineup #GetExcited
Nope they are 3 trades. The decision to not bring in any immediate talent and tanking is the rebuild part of it.

RF options are bleak...any other ideas?
He's finished as Royals fans will tell you. Does nothing well. Can't steal bases, doesn't draw a lot of walks, is not very good.

Job Thread
Geez. Supervisors like this are the scum of the business world. The 8 to 5 world in an office is really bad. And even an hour for lunch isn't enough if you want to be a human being in downtown Chicago. You have to leave work, find a place to eat without a long wait. No way you can pull that off in an hour. Where does everybody dine?
