Here are some Soxtalk legends: Fathom: (I envision him as a nice guy in real life; knows his stuff, used to get mad when we lost to Cubs, I think he played baseball longer than most on here). Caulfield: Same as Fathom. Seems like he'd be a nice guy in real life. Used to make interesting posts about China. He and Fathom seem like kind souls. Harry Chappas: Not only has ties to Brother Rice but has reasonable posts and also never gets mad on here. Seems like a nice guy as well and a proud southsider me thinks. WhiteSox2023 also has Br. Rice ties and seems to have his head on straight. He hasn't been around as long. Milkman Delivers: On the list of most likely to punch greg in the face if we met. I just don't think he likes me much. I could be wrong. Ron883: I think he is ok with greg. He's posted a long time, seems reasonable. I think we've disagreed on some players' value in the past. Texsox: Seems like a nice guy. I think we would agree on political stuff in real life. Mabe not. Those few come to mind right now. Peace on earth to all over the holiday season.

Eloy Jimenez signs minor league deal with Tampa Bay
greg775 replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
My view is different. In fact, I'm upset the Sox didn't sign him to a minor league deal. The chances of Eloy making it are the same as say, Robert, who also has proven nothing. In another throwaway season coming up, why didn't we reacquire Eloy. He still looks good in a uniform so to speak and if he's gonna save his career with a breakout year, why not with the Sox. Risk/reward. We should have picked him up. Cmon. He'd be as good as anybody we currently have for the outfield. Beni, Robert and Eloy on paper "again" would be potentially a winning threesome. Potentially. -
I always watched pitchers who go deep into games (Buehrle, Fergie Jenkins, Jim Kaat, whoever) and considered their work an art form. It wasn't just rearing back and striking guys out throwing 105 for as long as you can go, combined with some cutters. It was a beautiful work of art. Yes, starting pitchers who could throw shutouts or 9 inning masterpieces of 1, 2 runs, could hum a fastball in there when necessary. But they mixed things up, inside, out, fastball, curve, change, slider some (even though sliders stressed the arm) and they painted their masterpiece. Also if you faced a hitter a certain way one at bat you might change it up his next at bat or two. ... Baseball to me is getting boring partly because of the pitchers going with the heater and cutter (resulting in Ks after an excessive mount of boring foul balls) and of course the failure of hitters to even try to beat the shift or bunt to beat the shift and of course every hitter has to try to lift and pull it. Sure a few homers result from lift and pull, also a lot of balls hit right into the shift. Baseball is a horrible product right now but like Lip, greg can't quite divorce himself from his favorite sport as a youth. Give me Fergie/Holtzman/Gary Peters, Joe Horlen, LaMarr Hoyt, Jim Kaat, Dennis Leonard, Larry Gura, Jim Palmer, Dave McNally baby! They'll pain u some corners and a masterpiece without needing Tommy John.

CWS Acquire Reliever Cam Booser from BOS
greg775 replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Is Cam any good or will he drive us to booze? -
Yes I forgot Semien who shoulda been a White Sox as long as Ray Durham was a White Sox.

Our tank job was disgusting. If we'd have kept Sale with Abreu and run an organization like most other ones (prospects, spending a little bit of cash) we wouldn't have needed no stinkin' rebuild/tank job. The way the Sox run rebuilds ... you have ZERO good players on your team while you languish. Crochet is gone so we allegedly have one good player left on our roster (Robert; Beni is at least worthy of a big league uniform).
-
Many of us were positive for decades. Yes decades. Now many of us have finally given up. That's what a 120-loss season will do to you and a ridiculous tank job that insulted the intelligence of tons of fans. Sox earned the negativity. Again many of us hung on forever even through that awful tank job. I was against it but gave it a chance. Now? No way. Not til I see some real ballplayers getting acquired/developed and not a roster full of last place baseball players.

Sox are the worst run franchise in sports. Too easy to defend that statement. Jerry's legacy is ruined. Yes he has six Bulls titles and one Sox title yet he's a top 10 worst owner in sports history. Hard to do with that many titles.
-
Watch an interview today compared to 10 years ago. Hosts of shows interrupt their guests, scream at their guests if they don't agree with the popular narrative. My take is Soros got to 'em. Just my take.

Anybody who thinks the NFL is fixed is wrong. Why would they let Mahomes and the Chiefs win it every year if it were fixed? Is Andy Reid the greatest coach of all time? In a day and age of parity the Chiefs win it every single year.
-
I don't think we have a candidate. Maybe Robert will blossom finally. I wonder if he's working out hard this winter or loafing. I'll say Robert. I don't think we have any good everyday players to be honest. Maybe a pitcher like the new overweight guy we just signed. We usually have one great pitcher and the rest mediocrities.
-
Even though Jerry is unbelievably cheap you'd think even he would be thoroughly embarrassed and actually ashamed of himself to put such a horrible product on the field. I guess his legacy with the Bulls six titles is so great he thinks his legacy is assured to be positive and he continues to let his baseball team be the laughingstock of all of sports. He fooled people in 05 thinking he wanted to win.

I always wondered if u could develop a plan when carjacked. I really don't want to give up my vehicle. Cause one gets stolen, you go through all the hassle of getting a new one and boom it happens again. You've got to have a plan in my mind and sometimes I was thinking if you say you are a cop they might run.
-
I always wondered if you got held up on the street or carjacked in your driveway, could you impersonate an officer and say: "Police ... freeze ... I've been waiting for a moment like this to arrest one of you!" Or is that illegal.
-
Ugh. I forgot we also had a bad broadcast team. I won't be getting mlb.com again this year. No need since we project to lose almost every series again in 2025.
-
Maybe the Sox will strike gold with some pitcher acquisitions like KC did last offseason. Last to first baby? Kidding but what if this is just a start to signing a batch of arms?
-
Oh I'd keep a lot of dialogues going if we were allowed to talk politics local (Chicago) and national. I am most opinionated.
-
We don't say 'echo chamber' in Kansas and I've been away from Chicago too long to recall the phrase being common when I lived yonder. The world would definitely be a nicer place without X (Twitter) as it is very mean spirited but like I said there are good things on there too when something happens (like the drones). If I had a magic wand, yes I'd wipe Twitter (X) off the map but it's here and I'd rate the information it provides a solid 4.5 out of 10.
-
What is an echo chamber. There are a ton of 'idiots' on X who say stupid offensive things but no offense meant how is that different from a message board. Of course this one doesn't allow politics talk and X does but you know what I'm saying? People post stuff about a variety of subjects and you can assess whether they are full of bleep or not. What's so bad about that? I'm not a HUGE fan of X but why the comments blasting X when it's just another forum basically like a message board? X has some good videos about the drones.
-
Fair enuf especially regarding the media. But X is changing everything. The people are the media and they've been posting stuff, albeit yes some of it has to be fake. I hear you about tipping off our enemies. Glad to hear you don't trust the government as well. I was thinking some of my 'haters' on here disagree with me on that. Glad u are skeptical about government. Even the best presidents realize the smaller the government the better. Just my takes.
-
The issue is trust. You must inherently trust government whereas I do not. If people are filming this stuff in their backyards people deserve to know what is going on. If Trump is willing to tell people what is going on when he takes over, why not this administration.
-
I guess my detractors on here aren't reading social media nightly about this drone thing. There are videos of the drones, which are not airplanes as some government guy said. There are other people appalled by all this, not just greg. Once again my assumption is we have differing views of government, maybe not as I haven't spoken with my detractors on here and don't have an outline of their positions. Personally I'd like to know from government officials if I am in danger. Nothing you guys have linked to me have indicated I am not in danger. Trump actually said "for some reason" they are not telling the public anything so I am not alone on this. Frankly I am outraged as I was with the balloon thing we shot down years ago. And if nukes were headed this way it is sad if we wouldn't be forewarned. If this drone issue is considered silly by many then am I not the only one considered a fool in being concerned. Read X any night.
-
Maybe they could throw out some hints like a.) rest easy, your health is not at risk, 100 percent not at risk. or b.) you might want to be alert to these drones. if you see one best to stay inside and call your local law enforcement. Or something on a daily basis rating the concern level green, yellow or red.
-
This quick reply made me wonder what would happen if the button was pushed by one of our enemy countries and the bombs were coming. We'd not be forewarned for security reasons? I guess some of us would be removed from humanity without knowing of the danger with this logic. Not trying to be a jerk, just think about what you said and apply it to "the big one." Thank u.
