I may have missed it but Joe hasn't officially said anything as far as I can tell. He rarely addresses questions from media. There was a long statement from government that Kyle posted that frankly didn't tell me much. Perhaps my comprehension level isn't as great as others. I saw a clip of Trump's press conference yesterday in which he said he wasn't sure why the government wasnt coming clean. The guy who takes over in a month says the government knows exactly what's going on. Strange.

It just seems wrong to not have daily briefings from the government telling us what they know or at least responding to questions from the media. I don't know this for a fact but I suspect you and I have different feelings about government and its role and whether or not the current government is doing a good job. Not sure why you 'seem' to be OK with the radio silence on this. If you use social media you've seen the drones dominating the X platform night after night. This isn't greg doing some overreacting. I don't see why secrecy or silence is the way to go on this. My bad if I have made incorrect assumptions about your position on politics/government/relaying of drone information. I just sense a vibe of u, me and Kyle differing on what we expect from government officials.

I read the defense department statement. It said: "Additionally, there have been a limited number of visual sightings of drones over military facilities in New Jersey and elsewhere, including within restricted air space. Such sightings near or over DoD installations are not new. DoD takes unauthorized access over its airspace seriously and coordinates closely with federal, state, and local law enforcement authorities, as appropriate. Local commanders are actively engaged to ensure there are appropriate detection and mitigation measures in place." So they are aware of the sightings. Thanks. Tell us more.

Some people think they as taxpayers and good citizens deserve answers when the country is up in arms about drones. You've got one future president saying it's a big deal; another basically saying nothing. You've got enemies all over the world. Is it too much to ask for daily updates on drones?
-
I'm sick of 'probably!' I pay taxes. I want facts when there is something that 'some' people say is unusual behavior in our skies! What's so difficult about telling people what's going on?? These politicians and government officials earn a LOT of money on the taxpayer dime.
-
I read that two air force bases were shut down today cause of drones. Do a google on drones and air force bases. There's something weird going on when one president currently office is saying nothing about this and the next guy is ready willing and able to attack all the drones. And right now we go with Biden's silence since he's in charge and in a month we go with Trump blasting the bleep out of all drones. I'm gonna be so mad if our grid goes down at some point! We pay a lot of money in our lives in taxes and the government's No. 1 duty is to protect us. So people should demand such protection and not play politics on EVERYTHING. https://www.cnn.com/2024/12/16/us/us-air-force-base-closes-airspace-drone-sightings-hnk/index.html

What is wrong with our country? Why is there not outrage and people demanding the government tell us what the bleep is going on? Left, right, whatever ... politics is to the point we aren't briefed on what the hell is going on in our skies? Uh, some people fly reguarly and deserve to know if their plane is gonna get blasted by some sort of weapon!! What's going on with these drones Mr. President??

My dad was Freddie's closest business partner at the Board of Trade so we always had the best seats for season tickets when I was in high school. Made me popular as I'd take 3 friends often, sometimes two then we'd sell the other two tix and have good food money for the game. My dad elected to sit with work buddies in the box and get drunk so I'd often get all four tickets. Fifth row to the left of home plate just past the netting. Harry was great to fans as he walked by to get back to the press box but my dad and Freddie didn't like him for some reason. I know they closed the Bard's room many nights though Harry liked to go hit Rush Street more as the mayor of Rush Street. I remember as a fan you could give the guards a note that u were at the game and Harry would read it on the air. Not sure if he still did that as Cub announcer. He'd say "Joe Slabodnik and Tom Johnson of Naperville are at the game." You prolly recall he'd read requests like that from any fan. An announcer guy here at KU also didn't like Harry. Guess it was ego. I know as a fan I loved him.

Hey Lip, Did you know any of the original Veeck ownership group, and Bulls group, a Freddie Brzozowski? Were u close to Harry Caray? Are the rumors true Harry was kind of a jerk?
-
Lip: You seem as realistic/pessimistic as anybody about the Sox. What keeps you from divorcing yourself from the Sox and/or all of baseball? You say the team will likely reek til he sells it. Interesting.
-
Are Tauchmann and Slater any good? I don't see any reason to think they'll help the Sox win games. I would say Beni is two times the player/hitter of either of those guys.

Let's face it. The day the new Sox park opened (now G-Rate Field) is the day its expiration date became significant. The park is generally regarded as one of the most bland in baseball. Jerry got new spacious clubhouses for the players; he got such a steep, scary incline in the upper deck for ordinary fans who are not rich. Now the government ain't gonna help out so there will be no stadium as long as Jerry is owner. Way too expensive without government assistance.

Jerry Reinsdorf open to selling the White Sox per Britt Ghiroli

What's the timeframe on voting on taxes for a new Sox stadium. How does it work? Does somebody have to propose a bill on the ballot to raise taxes for a new stadium? And then if it passes all is well? What's the timeframe on all this and who brings it before the voters, etc. Thank u. -
I thought we moved past this Cubs stuff. Geez.

Here's a way for you to believe me that I am not a Cub fan and can't even name five guys on their team ... folks on here I think know I am Catholic and try to be a devout worshiper and all that. So ... I swear on a stack of Bibles, I swear on my religion that I am not a Cub fan, don't follow the Cubs, can't even tell you their record this past season or where they finished (I know they were flirting with the playoffs for a while) and AM a diehard Sox fan and have been for decades. So does that do it for you? I would not swear on Bibles if it were not the truth, sir. ... As a caveat my gramps took me to a lot of Cub games as a kid (age 10-13) and yes while in Wrigley at those contests did at that time root for the Cubs while at the same time attending Sox games with my dad and enjoying that ballclub and its park much more than the northside.

I simply didn't see TA as the Sox future reliable shortstop. He appeared to be a guy who could succeed at the plate thus rather than just stick him at 2B I came up with catcher. We'll never know but his body frame and arm did not disqualify him from catching and hitting .280 with 20 homers or so.
-
That's because "rebuild-niks" tend to be popular message board posters. There's a certain type of fan who loves tank jobs and rebuilds because they involve the acquisition of mysterious new bodies who nobody has seen yet, thus have not seen their flaws, yet. I hate rebuilds. I miss the days in the winter we already had a 'decent to good' roster and wondered if we'd tinker a bit and make one good trade or sign a good bullpen piece or something to add to an already .550ish team. Now? All we got are prospects to discuss while staring at 95-110 losses. It's not the right way to do things. Give me a real roster, now, please! Even though Lip tells me it has to be this way cause of Jerry, I can dream of the commish intervening and telling the White Sox/Jerry they are penalized for this ruining of a once proud franchise.
-
Ask any true baseball mind if TA was a good shortstop defensively or ever projected to be a good SS. He was very erratic. His future was somewhere else. Outfield? Not enuf pop. 3B or 2B? Don't do it for me. Catcher? Why not? The arm baby, the arm was there.
-
Bless you for your optimism and enthusiasm. For me losing 120 games is not fun. It's horrific. Trades for players not yet ready for the big leagues for me is annoying. You love it, which is fine. I just think the more the Sox lose the worse it is for the already small fanbase.
-
Good insight Lip. I guess all that's left for me to do is give up and divorce myself completely from the team and the entire sport. Haven't quite been able to pull the trigger on that yet as I was a lifelong Sox fan and it's difficult to forget the days of Ozzie, Ventura, AJP, Frank, Dye, Buehrle, Paulie, Jenks, Zisk, Gamble et all. I won't say what I would have done cause it gets people mad on here. Suffice it to say I never would have traded Sale.
-
And that is why sports frankly are no fun anymore. It's 2024 with the 2025 season coming up. Lot of wasted summer afternoons ahead. I heard all this down the road stuff during our first failed rebuild.
-
That first article mentioned the trade will help the Sox 2028 lineup? Geez it's always 'wait til 3-4 years from now' with our White Sox. Those are three brutal winters to survive before the team sniffs .500? Yikes.
-
What round was he picked?
-
Montgomery isn't finished yet, is he at SS? That would be disappointing if so.
-
I can throw water on the flames as well as anybody but I won't. The person who said they'd trade Meidroth for Crochet is being silly. I'm optimistic cause I'm down on pitchers' value as a whole and the Sox acquired 3 position players. I just wish Monte2 was ready earlier than 2026.
