I like your posts 2023. But my point is if you have veteran placeholders make 'em former Sox players/pitchers. Nobody cares about somebody else's oldies making outs for our team. Did anybody pick up that guy who played OF for us last year, I forget his name. He went to the Cardinals then went 3-for-3 in one of the playoff games I attended in KC last October.

My point is if you bring in a Gallo and some of these other old guys to play for a 105-115 loss team, why not have some of our old faves back? They'd be more popular than these new oldies we acquired. We coulda got Tim Anderson cheap and the folks who don't wanna rush Colson could be happy. We coulda acquired Madrigal for pennies and played him over whomever gets the 2B job. Abreu coulda played 1B over Gatto. And on and on.
-
Joey Gallo hit 10 homers in 223 at bats last year; he could lead us in homers. Sox are the oldest young team in baseball history. ... Seriously why not fricking bring Abreu back if Gallo is gonna get a lot of playing time? Abreu probably could hit 25 homers in 2024-25 with our Sox.

Very well done piece by Fegan on State of the Sox

Reaction: 1.) Happy about Colson (at some point this is an entertainment business and following his progress might be moderately exciting; it would for a second make me wonder if I should buy the MLB package). 2.) Who the heck is Drury? Is Justin Anderson that former Royals guy? He reeks IMO. ... Is anybody ever gonna discuss projections for our pitching staff? By far it's the biggest bunch of no names in Sox history. Not hyperbole. I've followed the Sox forever and can't name one starter still. Have to check the articles for names. -

I think some of the folks (not you) that are against rushing prospects are living in the past. If a kid is 22 or up and is considered an elite prospect, bring him up. The Royals let Witt have a miserable season, then he ultimately became a star rather quickly. See the ball, hit the ball. It's not a complicated game. Let Colson play on opening day. Why not? The team is gonna lose 110 regardless. -
The Chicago media should just ignore White Sox spring training or make the White Sox pay for coverage of spring training. There's not one player I want to read about or hear speak. If the White Sox insist on throwing this product in front of their fans, the media should just treat the White Sox like a minor league team, i.e. absolutely no coverage. Michael Taylor? Cmon. There should be absolutely zero interest in this roster. Are they actually gonna sell out opening day?

This isn't a way to run a franchise. Have the fans wondering if you possibly can have a worse record this year than 2024. Absolutely no moves of consequence in the offseason. If we win 60 games he's manager of the century.

Guys, Robert has proven nothing. Nobody wants him. Now if he's hitting .345 with 17 homers entering June, fine. Til then he's an injury prone hitter who strikes out a lot and plays a dandy CF.

Gavin Sheets to Padres, India Times not a reliable source
greg775 replied to buckweaver's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Gavin Sheets could be on the Sox still and I wouldn't care. Sox have absolutely no bats cept for Beni and maybe Robert and I guess Vaughn when he's on a hot streak. -
That's truly impressive about the Bulls. To me, a playoff only fan now, I would NEVER consider watching a regular season Bulls game. What a mediocre team. None of their players interest me. For fans to care and pack the stadium, wow. Truly impressive to me.

Sox with a flurry of picking up warm bodies prior to pitchers and catchers reporting. We need a thread predicting number of wins soon. One thing is for sure. In all our lifetimes on here the Sox have never had a team with so many no-names. Even huge Sox fans might have trouble knowing who all these guys are. The average fan certainly couldn't name five White Sox players.
-
You cannot win 45 guys with any of the shortstops you guys have listed. Who the heck is Colson? Oh wait; I didn't know Montgomery was ready. My guess is you can win some games with him if he's in the same (general) class as Bobby Witt.
-
I hope Drury starts at third. He's the unknown. I know those other guys mentioned are blah. This guy could be like Burger, intriguing.
-
And Tristan Gray hit 19 hrs in minors last year. I think both guys will make the big league club.
-
Wow with 26 HR pop he's automatically our best HR guy. He will start at 3B baby.

Who is penciled in as the Sox 3B and SS this season. Has to be a worse combo than even last year. It's scary that on paper we should lose every series we play this season. The Sox are a bunch of no names. I'd like someone on this board to write me 6-12 paragraphs on a best case scenario for our team for THIS season. It's hard for me to predict even fewer wins than 2024 but to me this is a far worse club than 2024. .... To me, I've never seen a weaker bunch of stiffs on the infield and catcher (hitting wise) and there has never been a no name pitching staff in Sox history like this one. I will say the outfield is OK with Beni and Robert. I'm actually surprised Beni is still with this club. He'd be perfect back on the Royals.

Baseball's union will never agree to a salary cap. Case closed. They'd rather strike and miss a season or two than agree to that.

Sox offering all Mar/Apr/May games for $125
greg775 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That's actually a good deal. Of course you have to be OK sitting in miserable seats as far as location. 27 games for 100 bucks and change. Sox finally wise up. They'll still get your parking dollars and the delicious food and beer in the park. Surprised the Sox did this. Usually even if attendance is horrific teams don't usually want to give away tickets. ... On a side note, is it worth it to the Sox to sit folks in the upper deck when their average attendance will probably be about 15,000 except for the big name opponents? You'd think they would not want to pay the hourly workers who have to clean up the upper deck after games. -
Who would have thought that for the 2025 season the Sox coulda had a SS in Anderson and 3B in Moncada for pennies. Arguably even with both having a lot to prove, they'd be a better SS/3B combo for the Sox this season than the stiffs at 3B and SS they'll be playing on Opening Day.
-
I'd actually rather pay to see a Sox game than a Bulls game right now. As an out of stater who is a playoff only fan (as a kid I was a real fan of B-Hawks and Bulls) I have zero interest in watching any part of a current Bulls game. Exceedingly dull. Why is Billy Donovan still there. He could get a job with a real NBA or college team.
-
Maybe Doncic is really 30 instead of 25. Seems like an unusual deal. Mostly kidding but ????
-
As a playoff only fan, how far away are the Hawks from contention? What's been the main problem since the three titles in six years dynasty? Was coach Q that important? Why do we stink still? When do Hawks return to dominance?
-
So is the Doncic-Davis trade as one-sided as everybody's saying? Is it an attempt by Silver to make the Lakers good forever? There's a lot of yapping on X about how the NBA ratings are terrible and Whitlock says the WNBA soon will pass the NBA in fan interest. Or is Davis good enough to help Dallas win it all? All the chatter I've heard/read suggests the Lakers have pulled off the steal of the century.
