  1. I was going to say, Ace, I agree, you are probably going to need a lawyer. You really are. I wish you well and know you will make the right choices. Feel free to PM me if you seek any opinions of mine.
  2. Eloy is going to be so good he's going to make even the most stodgy "rebuilding guy" want to see us win now and not waste a moment of the Eloy era. We're going to have a few special players in the lineup immediately IMO: Eloy, Moncada, Timmy, Manny, Abreu. Damn I wish my pal Avi baby was around to share in this. Eloy truly passes the "eye test" folks and the "I test" - I wanna see him excel!
  3. Hundley, Vogt, Duda ... I want none of those guys near the White Sox roster. Let's sign difference makers.
  4. If Greg attended would somebody buy me a corned beef or direct me to the corned beef stand?

Nice posts. Glad to hear it! Millennials forever! There's nothing wrong with people who "don't accept company lines as easily" and "having an opinion on something." I was getting on a plane today listening to some guy in line talking about work (sales) and I wondered about how an old guy like that could work with young people if the stereotypes about Millennials were true. Glad to hear Millennials are definitely OK. Thank u.
  6. I always wondered how those policies work in reality. Wouldn't having to pay 200-300 million dollars break any company? Certainly it's a huge chunk of change for any company I'd think. How much do teams pay into these policies to get that kind of massive protection. Just always wondered about that.
  7. I like that much better than buttercup.
  8. I won't post any more on this topic but I'm offended by being called "buttercup."
  9. Then why did somebody make a post or ten about Fulmer being a bust on here? It's not me bringing it up. It's me responding in anger. Tell the person who brought up Fulmer. Show me the thread about the lousy draft picks cause I'm ready to tee off on KW for five of the last seven No. 1 picks.
  10. This is why I HATE talking about the draft and despise tanking/rebuilding. Fulmer was No. 8 overall pick and we're talking about zero value. Will we be saying the same about Madrigal? Burger? Geez I despise modern baseball. Could those of you who love the rebuild and draft comment? Thank you. Please don't tell me, "would you prefer the other way? Mediocrity?" Uh ... yes I would, cause if you have a fricking mediocre team you can then SIGN FREE AGENTS and then add bullpen pieces and then add a good bat or two. It's not my fault this inept front office thought guys like LaRoche, Dunn (until his last year) and some of those other free agents blew chunks! How bout sign the right free agents and evaluate talent correctly to add to a mediocre to B- base?!!! Say what you want about me and my lousy knowledge of analytics... we're discussing Fulmer possibly having zero value which is unacceptable to me and should be unacceptable to those of you who worship the DRAFT.

That is one bad season. I know you don't want to hear it from me, but this is not healthy to keep piling up miserable records like this. Lot of pressure on a handful of young guys to turn this around in coming years unless we hit the jackpot the next week or so with free agency.
  12. Baseball should play a few day/night doubleheaders to help cut a week off the schedule and still get the revenue. I've been thinking about this more and more: I betcha after this season baseball outlaws the shift. I think they'll have a designated amount of feet allowed between traditional areas of fielders. The shift is really really killing baseball. It's ugly to watch and it's very very annoying when it works. It brings out anger/angst in fans who for the life of them are incensed players are unwilling to hit or bunt the ball during the areas of the shift where it'd be impossible for the defense to record an out. It makes you think the ballplayer is soooo selfish in trying to pull a home run, instead hit a smash to the rightfielder who easily throws him out. The shift must go and I think it will.
  13. Soria did OK as a Sox. My feeling is he got fixed by Coop. I really hope we can flip Jay as soon as possible. Nobody took me up on my question when I asked folks to name one thing he does well. I won't rip him any more, but his stats scream that he's not a productive player. I'd rather have Engel.
  14. Guys, Jon Jay is not a productive big league ballplayer. Anderson and Moncada are productive. I know you don' t care about KC fans but they laugh at the mention of Jon Jay. Suffice it to say he was Juan Pierre-like, Dwyane Wise-like in terms of what fans thought of him here. My hope is he is a good influence with his pal, Manny, but gets less than 200 at bats. You tell me why Jon Jay should even beat out Engel?
  15. I will say one thing. It's wrong if pitchers and catchers report and these two guys haven't signed yet. They are looking at huge dollars no matter where they choose. They should sign and get to their teams. If they don't that's bullcrap.
  16. The key to whether I'd give Manny eight years or more is his background. Does he work out in the winter much? What's he like in terms of being a competitor? Does he get after it in the offseason to make himself better or loaf a few months then get to it? You can laugh at intangibles, but with history of being a jerk on the field, I'd make damn well sure he at least is a fierce competitor and cares about his body to the final degree. It's not hard to find out this kind of stuff. Otherwise I pass on an 8-year deal. That said ... I'd like to see Jerry and the partners start spending some money on the team so I won't freak if we get Manny.
  17. I watched the Manny being Manny video. He certainly tries to take guys out at second, the hell with the new rules. And he gets very very upset when guys pitch inside to him. That one was scary when Boston fired a fastball basically at his face. One thing about baseball: Nobody's afraid of Manny. They go after him when Manny acts up. I'd much much much rather have Harper but we shall see. Manny is a timebomb but can back it up cause he's a physical force and a good baseball player. It's amazing how he thinks nobody should ever pitch inside to him, though.
  18. I forgot about the shift. Part of me wants them to outlaw it. Say that ballplayers have to be within certain areas when in the field like the coaching box in college basketball. The other part of me says keep the shift and tell these selfish big leaguers to hit singles through those big holes in the infield. I think it is embarrassing when the whole left side is open and some big lug lefthanded hitter hits it right to one of the three guys on the right side of the infield or pops out to RF. Take the single every time. It can't be hard to learn how to half swing or bunt the ball where one infielder is covering the whole side of the infield. The shift is so damn annoying.
  19. Moncada hasn't been an embarrassment. If he keeps getting called out on strikes next season, then I'll change my mind. Remember the umps had it out for him, calling him out on so many pitches that actually were balls. Whatever those umps had against him last year should dissipate this year. He was class in not complaining after getting hosed time after time by the umps.
  20. Ron I disagree. That article said why tanking is bad. This tanking phenomenon will eventually ruin sports. You wait and see. It's against everything competition stands for. And like the article said, if you pay $300 for a family outing and it happens to be one of those tank losses like the Sox had last season (you know those 10-1 games where it's 7-0 in the third; we had some like that) you'll never ever risk going back. Taking is an insult to every paying customer. Now let people in for free during the tank years or for 5 bucks? Fine. My solution if a panel including the commish decide a team is tanking, all ticket prices go down to 10 dollars maximum with free parking. We'll see how long teams try to tank.
  21. Also, it's almost impossible to play a 9 inning game in 4 plus hours. It's embarrassing and it happens. The length of the postseason games were embarrassing. So many problems in the game, but one of them is the proliferation of the relief pitcher and it's only going to get worse. I think baseball is over when the teams copy the Rays and have guys pitch two innings max. These "reliever" starters are going to be throwing 100 mph and blowing away the hitters. There will be little action and games are still gonna take forever. I agree with the poster who said there was glamor in starting pitchers who could go deep into games. Now unless you are a nasty veteran like Sale or Verlander who refuse to come out of games, you go 5 innings max, or 6 innings max. I personally feel very very few starters will be going through lineups more than 2 times in the future. Analytics is not going to allow pitchers face hitters a third time in a game IMO.
  22. This is what bothers me. When I get suspended on here it's like people NEVER EVER would have Greg's opinion on anything. Morrissey's story is MY POSITION on tanking. I've b****ed about it forever on here. Also the crap about advanced stats ruining the game and trips to the mound, etc. Every year I'm ready for baseball, but the Sox tanking B.S. really has angered me the past couple years. And the pace of the game after the fifth inning is something that will drive all Millenials from the game for sure. IT'S BORING. Baseball has to do something. The "old" stats were good. They drove discussion. They led to guys being named to the Hall of Fame. Good luck to anybody getting in in the modern era. Nobody will be able to live up to the advanced stat phenomenon. Thanks for listening to me rant. I saw Morrissey's story and I thought, "That's me, the guy people on here think is trolling." No I'm not trolling, I'm angry about my game of baseball being ruined. Tanking ... humbug! p.s. I also DESPISE playing the Royals and Twins and Indians and Tigers 19 times. Baseball, get your act together!
  23. Ozzie, da man. The Sox will rise again With Ricky at the helm
  24. I stand by my prediction that the Sox get Manny, but quite frankly it's easy to see why he might choose another organization if the money is about equal. We're not even talking about competing for the division this year if we do get Manny. If you are him, that should be a major factor. The postseason is fun and he's in his prime years. If we're not even gonna make the playoffs witih him? I still say don't sweat it. Sox get him. You don't sign a relative and a buddy of his and have an open checkbook and not get him.
  25. Not exactly correct. Ozzie said Castro was a good guy and all that stuff that got him in trouble in Miami. That has nothing to do with treating people different with respect. It's making a dumb statement considered politically incorrect. Case closed. Because of his Castro statements he'll never get a managing job again. Again, the country is too PC. And who says I'm outraged? Where did that come from. I happen to love a former Sox manager who won a WS and a former SS who I loved watching play. Where's the controversy? I'm praising a White Sox great and I'm the bad guy. No need to bait me any more. That's my final comment on Oz til somebody brings him up again in another thread as always happens.
