  1. I have no idea. So you are saying it's worth being THIS bad to make sure we get the No. 1, 2 or 3 overall pick? My point was we don't have to be a 42-win team while in a total rebuild. Reason Sox are this bad during a rebuild is to line Jerry's pockets and the other partner's pockets with more cash.
  2. We can go ahead and rebuild. I'm just saying the only reason to be THIS BAD is to get a top 3 draft pick instead of 6 or 7. There are only 4-5 guys on the current roster who are part of the true rebuild. What is it, 2 pitchers? I don't consider Yolmer and Leury as guys who need to be developed. Ditto Delmonico, Trayce, even Davidson. So we could have some good players to go with Avi and Abreu while still 'rebuilding.' I'm just saying the Sox are ripping off the public with that 60 mill payroll. We're only developing a handful of players for the rebuild in the bigs right now: Anderson, Moncada, Gio, Lopez, maybe Davidson. I'm not a Delmonico guy or a Trayce guy. Those guys can't play. So it's just $$$ that's keeping the Sox from having some real players hold down the fort til the true prospects are ready. And yes I'll call them out for wanting to rip off the fan. Those delicious corned beef sandwiches should not be the only reason fans want to go to the Cell this season.
  3. At least you recognize this. I am very mad. There are a lot of non prospects on the current team. The Sox management could have added some useful pieces (Soria??) to at least sniff .480 or .500 during this pathetic rebuild. I guess Hahn will say they want a top 3 pick this year and next to complete the rebuild. Get a superstar the next 2 drafts instead of a Burger type. So he'll either say or imply they want to lose 110 games to complete the rebuild. I'm mad cause I don't like being this bad and being out of the race after 2 weeks of the season. I wish they'd clean house and let some other folks complete the rebuild. And Ricky in 3 short weeks this season has proven he is NOT the man to manage this team when games count.
  4. I don't know how you can expect 68 wins. This team will win about 8 games a month if it's lucky. That's 48 wins.
  5. I haven't read about this tragedy yet. Signs I'm becoming numb to this stuff. This is not the type of America I thoroughly love.
  6. I probably should shut up as I truly do wish Timmy the best. Trust me on this. I lost a best friend to murder. I lost dad and referred to mom in post above. I feel your and Timmy's pain and wish you both the best. I can't help but compare this to real life, however, and unless you are working at a great great great great, all-time great, place, most employers don't care about losing a friend after a year. The HR departments don't even like hearing you want to take a few days off to travel to the funeral/memorial service of your brother's wife's mother. This world is way too cold.
  7. Good. I can't see an outfield of Eloy, Robert and Rutherford being anything but excellent. With those 3 patrolling the outfield and an infield of Machado (Burger is a big question mark with injury), Timmy, Moncada and Abreu/Avi. Collins at catcher and free agent (or Davidson/Avi) at DH with the young starting staff of studs plus hopefully 1-2 free agent starters and 4-7 free agent relief acquisitions, at that point a lot of Ws figure to be in our future.
  8. It's not been a whole year for you yet. My sympathy to you. But if you continue to be depressed about this, it might not hurt to get some help. Also not to be insensitive to Timmy (I do feel for him and wish him recovery) but this was your dad, not just a great friend. If your grief persists it may not hurt to get some help. Best wishes to you in recovering from the loss of your dad. My dad died a couple years ago and my mom now is pretty much stuck into dementia to where she is no longer a functioning mom anymore so I understand how bad it is to have parents gone. It's weird to think without a mom and dad we truly do not have the two people who care(d) about us the most unconditionally. Best wishes to u.
  9. If I were the commish I'd fine teams like the White Sox for obvious tanking. It's beyond embarrassing and bad for the game of baseball to purposely want to lose. I'd fine them enough to make it hurt.
  10. Nobody's trying to pull the plug because we have no power to pull the plug. I realize we are rebuilding. I'm OK with it. I just am not going to sit back and trust our front office when these same peeps thought LaRoche could play and some other stiffs I won't mention. I see no reason to not be an asshole fan. Look, they are giving us the worst possible product last year, this year, more years to come and they are not reducing prices for the not even minor league product. That to me is despicable. Truly despicable. So I'll call them on it. You want to rebuild. Fine. You put this crap on the field, cut prices for tickets 1/2 to 2/3s and lower parking to 5 bucks and beer to 6 bucks. When your little rebuild is complete raise prices again. Thank u. p.s. If the White Sox want to pay for my mlb.com this year and retroactively last year and again next year I will be more forgiving in my comments.
  11. This used to be the fear when the Sox talked about rebuilding completely, that the casual fan would be gone. Somewhere in the last 5-10 years however came the TV argument. Attendance doesn't matter at all and all that matters is the guaranteed TV money. Nobody in the front office cares about the Chicago fan. They care about TV dollars and as a result record value for the franchise no matter the attendance.
  12. It's funny, cause here's how the rebuild has been presented to me and I now am assuming it's true. In 2020 (God bless good health and fortune for us all that we're still loving life in 2020) we are going to win 90 to 110 games and win the division and reach the WS. We may or may not win the WS but we will be there. In 2021 we will win the Central and reach the WS and this time win it in six or seven. In 2022 we will win the Central and reach the WS and win it in 4 or 5. Then who knows after 2022, but we'll have had 3 WS appearances and two crowns to our credit. I'm assuming it's a given. No ifs ands or buts.
  13. Tim deserves credit for playing through the sorrow he truly does. Now, a year later it can't be talked about any more. Life has to go on. I mean right now it's just a non-factor in his life. I mean we all lose people and a year later after the natural mourning period, you must move on or something seriously is wrong with Tim and he'll need serious professional help if he's still in deep mourning. I'm not trying to be insensitive. I felt for him as I did the Royals for losing Y. Ventura. Most of the Royals who had bad seasons revealed it indeed was because they were mourning a true friend and teammate. Best wishes to all, but again, if a year later you are still in mourning, please get serious professional help so you can get on with life.

My bad. I received incorrect info in the game thread and apparently it was fake news and he was hurt and not loafing. Hail Moncada.
  15. One casualty of the rebuild is obviously Avi (unless his total regression is all about BABIP and Ricky's odd decision to bat him second). Avi obviously is giving away almost all his at bats with his new, horrendous, never draw a walk approach. Avi appears done and you can't tell me it's not partly because of how bad the team is and the resulting lack of focus.
  16. You fans of the rebuild slay me. You give the GM such a break. You know how easy it is to tank/rebuild? You trade the only non-young "stars" you have (take your time and get the best haul possible), then suck as badly as you can for years. If you continue to suck you just say the rebuild is still going on. This is no way to run a sports franchise. Be as bad as you can be as you spend no money and wait for the draft(s). I'm telling you, this board could run a successful rebuild. Meanwhile the value of the franchise somehow keeps going up. Hahn gets pats on the back from everybody: the owner (can you imagine the profits with this payroll so low for years?), the partners, the fans and meanwhile the team is playing historically bad ball. WOW. Hahn has such a great life. The challenge is to win consistently without sucking for 10 or more years. Any one of us could take the best available prospect in the draft this June. Any one of us could have traded Sale and Q for hauls and made those other smaller trades. Hail to Hahn and all GMs for selling this tank stuff to owners/fans.

Yoan and Timmy seem kind of different personality wise, which is not a bad thing.

So Moncada makes one mistake (loafing), gets taken out of the game for it early on (which never happens). And there's not a word about this. We all forgive him. And Sale does the cutting up the uniform thing and he still is getting blasted for that. What's going on? For Ricky to take him out of a game for this, is kind of a big deal, folks. He is the guy who will be selling tickets. And he got reprimanded in a public way tonight. Not trying to cause a stink, just wondering why nobody's overreacting to what happened tonight between Ricky and Moncada.
  19. Thanks guys. I guarantee you in real life you would find me normal and fairly quiet. I would want the Sox to win the game we are at even though the game means nothing right now for either KC or Sox. I probably would make some dumb predictions about what is about to happen in the game (but not as bad as the fatalist Indians Randy Quaid fan in Major league). I would ask more questions about the rebuild than act as if I know it all. On a message board you either go large or go home. You have to make your points, make 'em with conviction and go from there. Generally if the post is longer, somebody will take one line you make and misrepresent that one point, and all hell breaks loose after that.
  20. I will do that. Man Buehrle, you are an incredible fan to fly in for this crap. What hotel u staying at? The one by the park or in the Plaza somewhere or Power and Light?
  21. I'm pretty sure I'll be at a couple games this summer at The Cell. My mom is ill and it used to be when I came in I spent all my time with my mom and dad and sibs who didn't want to go to games. Now when I come in I can't spend all the time with my mom at assisted living place. I could spend all my time eating beef sandwiches at Bonos or Portillos in suburbia! Damn I love 'em. But Sox used to have great corned beef at the park. Probably still got it.
  22. Should be interesting to see if the Moncadas and Andersons who got called up early in the tank/rebuild process progress or do what Moncada did tonight? Lose interest. This is complicated stuff. I guess when we have an outfield of Eloy, Rutherford and Robert and Collins at catcher and Burger at 3B with a real rotation of young studs, will be do or die time.
  23. I dunno. Maybe if the weather gets better. I know I can't go Saturday.
  24. One thing is sure. If he goes 2 or 3 innings and gives up 7 runs 7 walks next game, he's GOT to be sent down.
  25. I don't mean to hide and change the subject, but another thing popped in Greg's head. This new way of building through tanking. Well the Royals tank was 20 years but that's besides the point. They reached 2 WS and won one of 'em which is fantastic and all that. They had a parade and they had all the fun times that go with being the best, etc. Now, however? Wow. They got no stars to trade. All they got for their current (next) rebuild will be draft picks. So KC is looking at its next contender in about 10 years since they don't sign free agents. WOW. So this era of tank ... you better win it all and enjoy all that and that best be enough cause you're looking at 2-3 years of excellence and WS contention, then 10 years of misery followed by 2-3 years of contention. I do not like the tank era. I like my way.
