I went to the game again tonight watching modern baseball. The Yankees and Royals hit no homers tonight though KC had two shots on the warning track. Everybody's trying to lift and pull while taking a ton of pitches and both striking out and walking a lot. The Yankees are so flawed. They can't hit. But right now they have a hot closer in Weaver and a hot set up man in Holmes. They got 7 innings out of Garret Cole which saved them. Their set up and closer mowed down the Royals after 7 strong innings from Cole. KC once again paraded out six or seven relievers. They're all fairly good which is their hope for next year. Have a great bullpen and starters who are definitely effective through five or six innings. Salvy's getting old but probably will rake again next season. Witt is only going to get better. Massey is for real. Judge was ridiculously awful during the KC series. Teams should copy the Royals strategy against Judge. Soto did OK but was not a difference maker in the series. The Royals are looking good in the infield with Garcia, Witt, Massey and Vinnie P. Salvy is a clutch performer. Pham slugged 3 hits tonight. The Royals are so far ahead of the Sox partly because in this era of modern baseball, the 5-6 relievers needed in a game can't cut it on the Sox roster; KC has those pitchers in place. Don't be surprised if KC keeps Wacha to go with Lugo and Singer. After going to a couple games I can see how KC beat the Sox 12 of 13. KC had a better team than the Yankees, just got beat. Jazz is lol bad at the plate and Volpe the SS can't hit. Berti, Verdugo and Wells can't hit. Stanton is OK and Torres is OK.

I went to the KC game tonight. My first MLB game in 2 or 3 seasons. Yankees got four hits and still won. Judge still not hitting. Soto not doing anything of note. Yankees got four hits and still won. Royals came back from 2 down and looked like they were gonna win. Giancarlo Stanton hit the HR to win it in the eighth off Bubic. Don't count out the Royals as the Yankees cannot hit. They won with four hits tonight. Shame on the Royals losing when they allow only four hits! Royals in 5. Bet the house on KC in game four, maybe in a rout. All games have been close. Yankees have a ton of easy outs in the lineup just like our White Sox. Jazz can't hit. That SS who made a nice play on a Vinnie liner can't hit. p.s. The place was jam packed not an empty seat. Fans were really into it as well. Into every pitch.

Yes. Just.Win.Baby.

Well, Sosa will start next year and get 550 at bats. I don't think he's very good though. And take your pick among the pitchers. A couple did OK the last two weeks.

The trade ideas begin! Robert for Holliday ++

Are u implying if Eloy wasn't paid big bucks right away that he'd be good hitter? Lots of players get huge contract dollars and perform. I disagree with your premise. Eloy is just another player who can't/won't make it in the bigs. He ought to go to Japan and try and reinvent himself. -
Oh no Caulfield you read this wrong. I appreciate your posts but KC is going crazy. The atmosphere will be different from all other playoff games so far. Yankee Stadium was a morgue last night. KC is going nuts. It'll both be sold out with maniacal noise. No way the Yankees will have many fans making noise there. Hell they were dead in NY for the games. NYY is finished. They need Rizzo badly. That one guy can't even run, I think it's Cabrera. Soto is doing better than Judge but Judge is doing no damage and looks lost. The hack NY is starting in Game 3 will be rocked. The Sox should be ashamed. Watching the last two games I saw a LOT of bad baseball hitters and pitchers. Baseball is in trouble with this kind of talent. KC goes from 106 losses to possible AL champs. Wow. Get it together White Sox. p.s. Pham is hitterish right now.
-
This is insane. The Royals lost 106 games last year and are going to be playing for the ALCS next week after taking care of the ridiculous Yankees who do not have what it takes. Both the Royals and Yankees have some horrible hitters on their teams and horrible pitchers as well. This again makes me laugh at the Sox ineptitude. The Sox never needed to tank and don't need to rebuild now. Get a good manager and get some non-awful players and make the darn playoffs. Look at KC and Yankee rosters. They are FLAWED just like the Sox. A 106 loss team is ready to play for the AL title. My gosh.
-
Rodon ridiculously bad this time through the order. Yankees playing like chumps at home, KC leads 3-1. Yankees need another bat named Rizzo and he ain't available.
-
But he fizzed early. I wonder if he made any $$ in another profession.
-
Pham actually is pretty locked in right now. As we know and the Cards know he's streaky. Yankees have to at least pay attention to Pham, MJ Melindez while not letting Perez and Witt beat them. Also Massey is locked in right now as well. Will the Royals pitching prevail over NYY in this series? Would u bet the house so to speak on KC?
-
Pretty simple. Judge and Soto vs. Witt, Perez , Vinnie and Melendez for KC. Yankees barely win despite lousy outing from Cole at home. Royals get squeezed by ump? Walking too many and the bad call at 2B. If Yankees lose Game 2 Royals win the series. Their pitching is much better than NYY.

Sad that Harry died. I wonder what he did for a living. Time flies.

Yes, some crucial flags against the Crusaders. Carmel should have gone for two points after scoring with less than a minute to go. They'd have scored two IMO and won the game. Instead they kicked the extra point. In the final game tying drive by MC, Rice got hit with some questionable flags for MC to tie it up. Rice has an excellent receiver in Maxson and didn't throw to him 'that' much. Great h.s. game though. I still can't believe Rice scored on a winning field goal, taking just 40 seconds to get in field goal range. Normally doesn't happen against a team like MC. Not sure why Carmel played an out of state school in its opener, losing. Kind of showed the world they indeed can lose on a given night. They rattled off four wins in a row after that though. MC is 4-2. Rice 3-3 now. The Rice kids could have a letdown vs notre dame next week. Hopefully not. Give 'em two days off coach and get after it. No matter what it's nice to beat one of the big three of MC, Loyola and Rita. -

To be fair their starting QB was out with injury, illness or something. I conveniently left that out, lol. Carmel looked like they had good pieces, it was one of those games that just went Rice's way despite a few crucial ref calls that went against BR. -
This is why I hated the idea of a tank/rebuild. What was Vaughn, third pick overall? And a complete bust. Teams that try to win thru the draft via the tank route are ill advised to do so.

I watched the game in its entireity. Great high school football game. Lot of ifs and buts on both sides but Rice prevails on a last second short FG. Carmel's long first drive was good for Carmel but bad. They scored a TD, missed the extra point, but took almost the whole first quarter to score. It set the tone for a slower paced game on both sides not a shootout. It helped of course that Carmel didn't have its QB but still, great win. Rice put some fierce hits on MC and I'm sure the Carmel kids thought they should have won but knew they were in a physical game. Great high school game. Rice will make the playoffs now if they build on this and don't get fat and happy and bomb next week. Great stuff. -

The best job searches are ones in which the guys in charge identify 1, 2, 3 individuals they REALLY want and they go get that person. You can overthink it. -

What a waste of time. Identify a guy and go get him. Geez. -

The second half of this season they should have done something creative like that. Why not? None of the in-game managing stuff matters right now. Have Getz do the roster and let celebrity managers work with Grady on the day to day lineup, etc. -

Is Hyde of the O's our next manager? Is he slam dunk choice cause of his resume? -
Looks like Hyde is gonna get fired. Is he a slam dunk choice for the Sox? The O's finished 20 over .500. ... I'm glad the O's lost to make up for the playoff series where a better Sox team lost to the O's. Britt Burns tossed 9 scoreless innings but gave up a homer in the 10th to lose 3-0 and prohibit a game five in which the Sox would have won and advanced thanks to Cy Young winner Lamarr Hoyt. Instead we got beat because Dybber had a brain lapse on the basepaths. I think that year was biggest choke in Sox history. We were home and only had to muster one run to win game four then win it on a Sunday with Hoyt. Glad those bleep Orioles who were way better than KC got beat.

Rice is due for a stinker and Carmel has our number. I hope the team can regroup, start a new season at 2-4 and win out. Then try to get at least as far as last year. -
At least Robert allegedly is good defensively. If you want to win 49-55 games next season you better keep Robert and Crochet. In theory Robert could have a decent year at the plate. Without Crochet the Sox start all unknowns once again. And the bullpen as it stands has a lot of bodies but is abysmal. To Sox fans. If Sox trade Robert and Crochet do you see about 40-50 wins again? Maybe 35-45 wins?

I didn't know u were eligible at 4-5. If the guys don't give up after the MC game there's hope of winning out IMO. Then I guess we're in trouble in the playoffs as you said those four teams are all good.
