QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jul 1, 2017 -> 07:52 AM) Never at any point when Flowers was on the Sox was I clamoring for a long-term extension but it was obvious at the time they were making a mistake opting to sign Avila and/or Navarro over keeping him. Flowers was buried on this board. He was despised by people. I'm not saying he was great but I'm always amazed certain players are despised and some tolerated despite having equally s*** production. There were no Flowers supporters on this board.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 1, 2017 -> 01:27 AM) SMFH How exactly would he have gotten a Republican congress to pass "free healthcare for all" greg? Lord. If we want it, we demand it pass. Maybe Bernie would have chosen an equally likeable Veep candidate and maybe it would have passed.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 1, 2017 -> 06:07 AM) Lighten up Francis, it's just a fun little bet. It's not like anyone is rooting for an injury. My offer is I will buy a beef sandwich for 10 members of Soxtalk. Only caveat is we have to be in Portillos at the same time. No fries. No drink. Just the sandwich.

LaRoche quit ADD med because of "addiction"

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 1, 2017 -> 06:09 AM) I thought we'd never have to talk about this terd salad again Why do you guys take the side of the front office so much? I don't care that Sale cut up the uniforms. Everything I've read said they were totally uncomfortable and he warned the Sox he didn't want to pitch in them. In this day and age of babying pitchers I cannot believe they were going to risk injury of Sale pitching in a fricking jersey he DIDNT WANT TO WEAR. My vote to Sale not our front office. And LaRoche. ... Who gives a f*** if his kid was in the clubhouse every day? Some teammates didn't seem to mind. Some did. My vote to LaRoche. Or to make it less of a big deal. Treat him like a grown man and have a team captain or somebody discuss it with LaRoche. Again he was a pathetic hitter as a Sox. But truthfully I heard he treats veterans Very Very well in his hometown in Ks. Does a lot for charity. You know a lot of people in America who are rich still do very little for charity. KUDOS SALE AND LAROCHE! -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 1, 2017 -> 01:47 AM) Dude, we get it, you don't like Anderson. You don't have to b**** about him every chance you get in game threads I don't think he's bagged on TA that much. He tells it like it is. Anderson has given him a lot of ammo this season. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 1, 2017 -> 04:59 AM) The Melkman delivered! This team never gives up Great win. But I disagree on your last sentence. Team is 8 under .500 which is REALLY a bad record in this division. But great victory. If we actually had a rotation like most years we'd win the division. We have horrific starters and a better bullpen than the past several seasons; not a great bullpen but better. Too bad the Sox had to hire Robin for some reason.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 08:20 PM) Not really. Public education is being killed by lack of funds, but thats not due to less people. There are more than enough students to attend, just not enough money being funneled in. Thats due to a ton of factors. This is a big reason why families leave the city to the immediate suburbs. Private schools in chicago are populated with both city and suburban kids. There are wait lists for those. I thought Brother Rice was hurting for students and well short of capacity. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 09:51 PM) Chicago is the greatest city in the world and anyone that would consider leaving is a dirty rotten traitor. I love your pride. Chicago pride used to be really strong. Just like yours is. My cousin is thinking of moving to Nashville. He said he's heard it is incredible place to live. I've only been there once, a while ago. Any opinion of Nashville?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 09:58 PM) 700,000,000,000 are going to lose their health care. https://pjmedia.com/video/maxine-waters-say...eir-healthcare/ I wish Bernie had won. We'd have free healthcare for all. At this point, because of the cruelness of government and govtment officials' refusal to even attempt to serve the people fairly, I'll take the freebies. This healthcare mess is not good.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 09:11 PM) Not that you actually follow baseball, but why don't you just stop coming on here? Whats the point? What are you accomplishing? I accomplish as much as you do. Just because I don't blindly accept the so-called rebuild. For instance I just read the prospects article, which was a fine article. From reading it, seems to me Moncada is a disaster at 2B defensively, and Collins is abysmal hitter and Fulmer is a total joke at this point. Just cause I bring up the bad doesn't mean I'm a bad poster. I don't trust the White Sox organization. At all. SELL JERRY, SELL. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 11:29 PM) Weirdest/longest running troll in internet history What is your main beef? I speak my heart and if it's not all roses, sorry. You shouldn't be allowed to call me weird and/or troll BTW.

LaRoche quit ADD med because of "addiction"
greg775 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If it's any consolation, I've heard LaRoche, who lives in Ks., is doing great work with veterans. he has a big fundraiser for them and routinely hosts events on his property raising money for veterans and funding hunting trips for them, etc. I don't think LaRoche is an evil person by a long shot. Who cares if he wanted his kid to hang out in the clubhouse? I don't automatically take the team's side on issues like that. The kid is probably being raised to be a good kid. This is from a guy who despised LaRoche's hitting as a member of the Sox. -
Engel should play every inning of every game the rest of the season (OK a day off once in a while). See if he can do it. He looks like a real-deal centerfielder defensively and is aggressive at the plate. I have no idea about future plate discipline. Looks like he's done an OK job of drawing walks in his minor league career.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 07:59 PM) Can you imagine if we elected a man who bragged on tape about grabbing women by the p****? man that would be pretty awful! Pee tape is real and the entire country will watch it Black Mirror-style when it is released! You sound like Alex Jones' counter ego. At any rate Trump is making it sooo easy for the national media. Today he goes on Twitter and posts some garbage about the female Morning Joe host mentioning bleeding again? How inappropriate and disgusting. Trump sets it up on a tee for the media every morning after tweeting that type of crap and BOOM they whack that drive 280 yards down the middle. I still say Trump barely lasts a year. I'd say he'll be gone before the halfway mark of his presidency. He is a dope. Actually nobody praises me for my assessment of him which is the best I've seen:He's a selfish one-percenter out for personal gratification 20 hours a day. I assume he sleeps four.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 08:51 PM) The Steel dossier is a real document that exists and was circulated around various campaigns and media outlets prior to the election. The thing with the pee tape is that nobody really seems to think it's implausible that Trump would actually do that because he's spent decades bragging about his hedonism. It's the most absurd part of the dossier, but all of the financial and Russian mob tie allegations would be a much bigger deal if true. It's a raw intelligence/opposition research document though, so it definitely shouldn't be taken as all 100% verified and true information. The fact some prime time media outlets discussed the possibility of this with no facts or no basis in fact shows how far we've fallen as a society. Can you picture a grade schooler: "Daddy what are they talking about on TV about the President? What did he do?"

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 07:38 PM) No reason to watch tonight with Avi/Davidson/Anderson out. Not a fan of benching Davidson and Anderson when you face a crappy pitcher when you could have rested them last night instead I know. I was just thinking how sad it is that it's still June and I can't look forward to any baseball games again the rest of the year. It's actually been this way the entire season for me. It's very bizarre to be fan of a team out of it on June 1. Nothing to look forward to, baseball wise. If we win a game it doesn't matter. If we lose it doesn't matter. Very sad that I have no desire to watch the Sox tonight or any night the rest of the year. I guess this could be the start of me losing interest in baseball completely which would please this board immensely. I mean we're looking at 5 more years of this. I find it impossible to believe the Sox can be this bad for 3-5 more years and not lose all young baseball fans. Why would a kid in grade school or high school follow this horses*** team? Sox marketing must not be worried but I can't imagine this team being relevant for a long time to come.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 04:08 PM) He is getting paid $14M this year........if you claim him, you're responsible for the pro-rated portion, or a little over $7M. I'd much rather Jerry eat money in trades for better prospects than claiming Montero. 14 million? He's thrown out zero runners all year. What a bizarre business is baseball. How did a player this bad get a contract paying him 14 million bucks? It's all ridiculous, folks. It's just money. I hope Jerry throws it away. Sign the guy. I'm very very pissed that myfavorite team is done before July again. This organization blows. Spend spend spend, Jerry. sign him. Thank goodness we won one title in 05 cause we're not winning another until Jerry and his posse sell and we start over. MARK CUBAN save us please.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 06:41 PM) I posted it somewhere in this forum somewhere but I am thinking hard about it and if I did not have an entrenched family I would leave in a heartbeat. Taxes are the lightening rod of a myriad of issues among the city, county and state...one worse than the other. I never thought Chicago would fail as a city. Winters are cruel of course, but aside from that, Chicago had everything.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 08:28 PM) One of the things from the Steele Dossier that was published back in January was that Russia has Kompromat of Donald Trump having a couple of Russian prostitutes peeing on a bed in a Russian hotel because the Obamas once slept in it. My post was just a throwaway joke based on caulfield's "Pee coming again?" line. I believe that pee tape is real simply because of course it would be in the world we now inhabit and it'd be hilarious, but there's not been any more evidence beyond that original dossier.* *There have been a whole lot of "no comment"s from intelligence community people under oath regarding "salacious materials the Russians may possess" and Trump has offered up unprompted denials of it a few times so you never know! That was disgusting fake news. I listened to some documentary on how the info got started and planted, etc. We are living in a very very bad world right now folks.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 05:05 PM) Dan HayesVerified account @CSNHayes 3m3 minutes ago RE: Avisail Garcia, Ozzie Guillen offered him some tough love in Venezuela this winter. Talked about it Sat. Will have more later. #WhiteSox Nice. There's a lot to love about Ozzie. He's a competitor. Too bad he couldn't shut up. He should still be our skipper but he enjoyed talking too much and buried himself out of baseball managerial positions forever.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 04:56 PM) It's really not very expensive. I've told you this every single time you post something like this. You never respond though. Can you get a good seat on the lower level for under 40 bucks?

QUOTE (ron883 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 03:46 AM) I still can't believe they haven't moved him behind the plate Defensively he's a disaster at ss. I'd send him down, teach him to take pitches and see if he can become a catcher. I'd take .260, 19 homers, 79 ribbies which appear to be his ceilings, at the catcher position.

Poor Avi. Another 0h-fer. He's gonna be under .300 pretty soon.

QUOTE (FT35 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 06:25 PM) Pitchers basically have to throw the ball through a thimble to get a called strike and to hitters...that translates to more offense. And it sickens me. They haven't called a strike a strike for so many years now. All because of the umps' union. The umps laugh at baseball year after year as they ump the game the way they want to.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 02:38 AM) Verlander, 7 innings, 3 runs Impressive Baseball is such a crazy game. KC had bases loaded three runs in and nobody out, Verlander got out of it and KC finished the game with 3 runs and lost.

QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 07:05 PM) My 2 cents - I do not think Quintana will be traded during this season. My first reason in thinking that is that I doubt that teams will offer what Hahn wants, which might be a high value prospect, perhaps in the top 25 in baseball, plus one or two other prospects. No team , in my estimation, will offer that. Secondly, I read a few reports that indicate that Quintana has a comfort level with the WS staff, players and a City where the fans love him, and does not want to be thrown into a play-off race with an unfamiliar team. Of course, Q would not have a choice without a no-trade clause, but the WS might honor his wishes, especially if what is being offered for him is not compelling. I think the rebuild ha fizzled. I'm just glad they signed Luis Robert to at least keep some hope alive. Good post, miracle. You could be right. We shall see.

White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 07:10 PM) I never said implied it was easy, but shuffling around veterans hoping to catch lightning in a bottle in age 30-34 seasons isn't a good strategy. It's not surprising sox get burned. Moving forward, I would hope they have the organization with enough depth that they can fill below average production internally, because "I'm glad we sort of reverse that trend this year with several young guys having breakout years." Is not surprising to me in the least. And those years would have never happened because we'd have austin jackson in center and brandon phillips or some s*** at 2b. If we are going to the market, relievers and sp 5-6-7 depth aside, let's use it to get something we can't get within our system. Pretty confident we will be able to create negative WAR catchers for the foreseeable future. Leaving this horses*** organization certainly has helped Tyler. It did not help Beckham, however. I am of the suspicion Tyler is happy he's not a member of the White Sox any more. I'm sure he does miss this great city though. Chicago is paradise compared to Atlanta cept for the brutal winters. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 01:38 PM) He's very angry about WaPo exposing the fact that he has FAKE NEWS Time magazine covers at at least 5 of his properties yesterday, and now Time has asked him to remove these photoshopped covers. Good way for Time to get in the news. Isn't Time failing as well as most print media outlets? Its Web presence isn't that well known. Isn't Time being petty? There are a lot of fake covers of Time in movies, etc., like Gump and the like. The fake Time cover is kind of well known. Not that it isn't amazing Trump is a.) dumb enough to think it's real. b.) so full of ego he has to see his face on a cover like that every day. Man ... we can only hope to be as rich as Trump in our next lives. To be wealthy ... it's so different an experience. I know a third generation guy who has never worked a day in his life and he's middle aged. Daddy has worked it out that he and his family have had overflowing amounts of money. I wonder how the exchange of money works. The kid has a title at daddy's company so daddy could fork him over a huge salary, but I'd think there would be a way to just hand over the cash to keep taxes out of it. Trump is a 1 percenter and so rich I can't believe he fooled anybody into voting for him for president. I know many of us despised Hillary and simply could not vote for her and would not vote for her under any conditions, but to vote for Trump, a rich 1 percenter with an ego as big as the ocean ... WOW. Rich people like him are so selfish they cannot be president. It seems like Bill Gates has it right. Everything I've read about him is he gives gives gives money to society. But Trump? He's pretty much everything that's wrong with the world (the 1 percent $$$$ only caring about pampering themselves).
